The Container Garden is a mixed-use small business complex staged out of converted shipping containers using recycling techniques and recycled materials and set in places that were “eyesores” and underdeveloped pieces of land. By creating a venue for mixed-use small businesses such as storefronts, restaurants and bars, and artistic boutiques, we are enriching and supplying a revue stream to support the local community, this will, in turn, revitalize the neighborhood. 1) Acquire funding and investors to finance the Container Garden 2) High-quality shipping containers will be trucked to the job site and custom modified to meet the needs of the boutique owners. 3)Electrical power and water supply will be added to all container buildings, meeting …show more content…
The goals of the project include the following: Create a family-friendly outdoor environment. Remove area that is an eyesore in the community and bring in new businesses. (KM)Project Assumptions The community is in need of a jumpstart. Low rent storefronts will help new entrepreneurs sell their wares and services. There are underdeveloped areas that would benefit from this project. This is a low-cost way to make a large difference in the community. The storefronts and restaurants will bring new revenue into the neighborhood. Provides a place for families to congregate. Riverbank, a large city, has a district with a huge problem. Grant’s Valley, although booming with business, is a quaint and historic part of Riverbank that the residents want to keep that way. The business aspect of Grant’s Valley has an ever growing need for more space for tourists to park and there is just too much traffic for the area to withstand. Riverbank’s historically quaint Grant’s Valley would benefit from the destruction of the unused junior-high on 35th and Princeton and the new construction of a one hundred space parking lot and a new park. This would attract more people and lessen the unattractive curb appeal of the parking lot in the residential area of Grant’s Valley that the residents want

Because of the amount of overdeveloped areas that are now vacant, the desire to renovate old vacant properties and land plots has all but disappeared. What if there was a beneficial solution to unused land plots in need of rehab and redesign? What if, instead of paving over every leftover inch of grass and dirt in urban areas to make room for more parking for our daily commuting polluters, we instead reinvent that land for a purpose that is both beneficial to our
As a social worker in the community of Lakeside, there are many problems, however, one proposal that I feel could be helpful is bringing new businesses to the community because of the following problems listed below that were brought up in the article and addressing transportation issues.
If I were to start my own business, my dream would be to build a surf and skate shop on the Southern California coast. My business would be located on beachfront property in the surrounding area. This business plan will cover two main subjects, 1: an Analysis of the Business Situation, and 2: the Planned Operation of the proposed business. The first topic will cover the subtopics Trading Area Analysis and Competition in the area for my business. The second main topic will cover the proposed organization of the business, the proposed business, and proposed strategies for that business. The analysis of the business situation will cover geographic and demographic information for Huntington and the surrounding area. It will also contain an analysis of businesses in the area which are of similar type, customer buying behavior relating to my proposed business, and the potential location of my business. The Proposed Operation section will address the topics of ownership, start-up procedure, personnel needs, special functions, and an organizational chart. Details of products which will be sold will also be included, as will my business' pricing policy. I would hope that through my thorough planning and explanation that my business idea will be a grand success on the beautiful beaches of California.
The place for the project is the existing basement of the service provider. The anticipated time for the beginning of the project is June 2016 and expected completion December 2016. The Executive Director’s authorization is required for starting the project. It is projected that upon project completion, the number of meals served to homeless individuals and needy families by the program will increase from 90,000 to 150,000 within a year of project completion, and the service provider will monitor the progress on a monthly basis. The resources needed for the project will come from the grant and other fundraising activities detailed in the budget.
Aquaponics is the combination of both aquaculture, which is fish farming, and hydroponics, which is farming without the use of soil. In aquaponics, plants form a symbiotic relationship with fish allowing for fish to get nutrients from plants, and plants get a supply clean water from the fish. With aquaponics, the plants and fish can grow faster than average due to naturally fortified water from the fish, and nutrient-rich water from the plants. Aquaponics also allows for two types of farming happening at the same time, fish and plants, if the system the fish are in is large enough. Furthermore, aquaponics allows for plants to grow anywhere, without arable land. Many countries are not able to meet the demand for food because of the climate or
Smallville Elementary was built in 1919 in order to enrich the lives of the youth in Smallville. It served as a school until 1977, when it was closed and changed to a community center. The purpose of the building, however, remained the same: to enrich the lives of Smallville' youth (Ellis 67). Many years ago, my grandmother took painting lessons in the old Smallville building while I had daycare. It was a perfect blend of young and old. Recently, however, the building has not been used as it was intended. It is now used strictly as a senior center, leaving no place for the young to gather. Now, as a result of youths'being shut out of the only public recreation building, the city can no longer attract new families and the young are turning to crime as their only pastime. The best solution to remedy these problems is to build a youth center for the children and teens of Smallville.

Organic farming has mushroomed drastically in importance and influence worldwide from its modest beginnings in the first half of the last century. Organic farming is production of food and livestock without the use of herbicides, pesticides, weedicides, fertilizers or genetically modified organism and use natural resources such as manure and compost instead. In other words, it is a production system which maintains the quality of soil ecosystem as well as human beings. According to IOWA State University, “the chemicals were not used for farming before World War 2. A number of munitions used in farming have contributed to field of agriculture. For instance, ammonium nitrate used as ammonium nitrate fertilizer”.
Home gardens offer a wide variety of benefits to the environment and serve a diverse group of people. Home gardening provides a source of fresh produce and free of chemicals, it also gives you complete control over the chemicals and products used during the growing process. A home garden allows you to pick the produce when its ripe, unlike produce at the store is often picked before its fully ripe. The quality and flavor of the freshly picked produce from home is better than the produce that might have unknown chemicals and was likely picked several days or weeks before being sold. The produce retains more nutrients when consumed shortly after being picked, making your home garden vegetables a healthier option. A garden also provides a positive environmental impact. The compost allows you to recycle certain kitchen and yard waste into a nutrient-rich additive for the garden. This provides natural fertilizer for you plants and reduces the wastes you produce. If you choose to avoid or limit chemical use, you reduce pollution from your gardening activities. Besides being good for the environment gardens have environmental gains for us. Gardening help control urban temperatures, If the environmental landscape design is effective it can cool your home in summer and warm it in winter, it can also reduce the energy cost by up to 20%. Gardening, and all the physical activity that goes along with it, leads to a better overall physical health, weight loss, improve you bones, and reduces the risk of having osteoporosis. “In a study of 3,310 older women, researchers from the University of Arkansas found that women involved in yard work and other types of gardening exercises had lower rates of osteoporosis than joggers, swimmers, and women wh...
