The career I will be choosing to research is construction manager. The duty of construction manager is to run the construction site they are the person in charge of planning, running, and controlling a construction site from beginning to end. A construction manager makes sure the site he is running is working on schedule for example making sure the site will be completed by certain date, make sure the project is on budget, and works with the owner to make sure they are building the structure the way the owners want it. A typical day for a construction manager would be going out on to a job site planning a schedule, making sure the workers have the material they need to work, having a meeting with the workers to tell what need to be done. Some of the professional skills needed for this job are active listening, Critical thinking, speaking, complex problem solving, and coordination. The experience needed to become a construction manager is years of working in construction to make it to the top or getting a degree in construction engineering and working as a construction manager assistant to get the experience needed to become a manager. There are many construction companies that offer this job but the top companies are Bovis Lend Lease, J.A Jones, and Washington Group International. The average income for a construction manager is 84,000 dollars with the lowest being 34,000 dollars and highest 146,0000 dollars. There is a currently demand for construction managers, in the early two thousands there was a drop for new construction but there is projected sixteen percent job growth by the year two thousand twenty two. A trend that could influence the demand for construction managers would the increase of populations in cities this will lead to the building of new construction projects. I will be getting my bachelors in mechanical engineering. This degree will take me approximately five years to complete. I will get my associates in engineering while at the same time acquiring constructions job skills like pipefitting and electrician. After getting my associates I will get a full time job in construction while finishing my bachelors degree. Getting this education will cost me nothing. I successfully served the United States Marines from October 2009 to November 2014 so I qualify for the Post 9/11 Bill, which pays my tuition for thirty-six months. I will only have to pay for a semester, which I am estimating to be around seven thousand and the way I will pay for that is with my full time job no loans. There are internships for this career but one of the reasons I am getting my degree in mechanical engineering is that I will not be stuck in this one career. I do not know anyone in this career but I do know construction workers and their advice is to just go for
