Cons: The pros and cons do not outweigh one another, it seems that there are equivalent arguments and counterarguments for both sides. Some would say that the idea of the treatments “destroys” the traditional family. However, I disagree because a family is a family no matter who is in it. Those same people would argue that medical scientists are “playing God,” they say that a child is a gift from God himself. One statement from a woman on a website asking for people's opinions read, “ It is evil to create a child through artificial means.” Another read “if adoption were cheaper it would be a better alternative than IVF.” The medications may cause bloating, headaches, hot flashes, and nausea. Side effects that are the shots are worse and can
In my opinion I think that one of the main reasons people are against IVF or cloning of embryos is that there is a higher chance of an abortion. During in vitro fertilization there is a chance of multiple pregnancies and if there are multiple babies a lot of times the doctors will recommend a reduction of babies because of the likely hood of disabilities in the
For a mother or father to learn that their adopted child, who they believed was an orphan, actually has a caring and loving family is heartbreaking. Adoptive parents feel guilty. The children yearn for their true home. The biological family feels deceived and desire for their child to return. This situation is far too familiar within intercountry adoption cases. Many children are pulled away from home, put into orphanages, and painted as helpless orphans. The actions perpetrated by adoption agencies reflects an underlying network of corruption and exploitation. This is not for the purpose of discouraging international adoption, but to shed light on the horrific practices taking place behind the scenes. Intercountry adoptions are often tangled
There’s a high rate of homelessness among the children who was been in the foster care but age out. Many children are going to the foster care because of many tragedies they already had before they even understand what is life all about. Fortunately, for them, there are some people who try to help them out and give them a second shot at life. And having a child of my own gives me a full understanding how much a parent 's guidance and love mean to their lives and I am trying to introduce adoptuskids.org to help raise awareness of homelessness and adoption to all the people and hoping that the children in the foster care system will get a lot of help, support, and love.
IVF does have its pros, but for some couples the cons could possibly outweigh these benefits. According to BabyCenter.com, some pros are things such as successful track record, no link to cancer, and improved techniques. But the list of cons seem to outweigh these pros by a few negative factors such as: price, time consuming, IVF not working, and potential complications for the baby and mother during delivery (BabyCenter). Clearly some of these cons are easily fixed by family help or the couple’s salary, but for almost all middle class soon-to-be mothers, this procedure will put a dent in their daily lifestyles. Just for my IVF procedure, my parents spent around $25,000. They had to sell their house and downgrade to a much smaller one, but also were lucky enough to receive financial help from my grandparents, because they were just as passionate of this procedure as were my parents. If a couple can see past the cons, and agree that the pros outweigh them, then IVF is a procedure for them. Among the pros is the success rate, which is seemingly very different depending on age groups. According to American Pregnancy Association (2012), the success rates differ per age group. For example: under the age of 35 is 41%-43%, age 35-37 is 33%-36%, age 38-40 is 23%-27%, and lastly above the age of 40 is 13%-15% (AmericanPregnancy, 2012). Although the numbers for the younger ages seem low, there are far more success stories than not. These age gaps prove that the older the female, the harder it is to conceive. If the success rate is that low for women over 40, imagine the success rate for women 60-65 years or older. Therefore, in order to prevent females above the age of 60-65 to follow through with an IVF procedure in the future, government needs to intervene now before the option is
The most popular form of birth control is the pill. The reason for this is that it is said to be very effective against pregnancy if used correctly, it makes menstrual periods more regular and lighter, they decrease menstrual cramps and acne, makes you less likely to get ovarian and uterine cancer, pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian cysts, and anemia, and last but not least, it doesn’t interrupt love making. Those are the good things about the pill. There are also a list of negative things: the pill doesn’t protect against S...
The idea of adoption has been around far longer than the formal legal system of adoption in place today. In the bible, there is a passage detailing the adoption of Ester by her cousin, Mordecai, after the death of her parents. Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, and Babylonians all had their own systems of adoption. Adoption systems differ from country to country. United States citizens who internationally adopt today allow for the blending of cultures, languages, traditions, and ideals. In contrast, the practice of adult adoption in Japan is a particularly interesting system used quite differently and reflects a lot of traditional Japanese culture itself.
Family is not determined by a person's last name or blood relations. The traditional idea of a nuclear family, consisting of a husband and wife raising one or more children together, has evolved in recent years. In this modern society, not only is it common for single parents or unmarried couples to raise a family, but, gays and lesbians are also taking part of this profound trend that is re-defining what a family is as a whole. Imagine if a person's privilege or opportunity of becoming a parent was revoked; how would this impact their life? Even though homosexuals are steadily becoming more accepted and integrated into today's prevalent culture, a disunity is posed when it comes to establishing a family of their own through adoption. Homosexual couples should be granted the same rights to adopt children like heterosexual couples can. The freedom to adopt should be equal in all aspects because there are too many children in the foster care who need a loving home, it is narrow-minded to assume that heterosexuals make better parents than homosexuals, and it is prejudice to deny homosexuals the right to adopt children based on their sexuality.
One common treatment is fertility drugs, which can be injected or taken in a pill form. These drugs release hormones that induce ovulation to boost egg production, and make the uterus more receptive to embryo implantation. For those women who do not ovulate regularly this treatment is best. This is the primary treatment for women with ovulation disorders. The success rates for those who choose to take the pills have a 40 to 45 percent of ovulating, and getting pregnant (Donna,2011). The fertility drugs are usually the first choice, because of the lower cost. Some side effects from the pills are bloating, nausea, headaches, and hot flashes. With the shot on the other hand the side effects are bigger such as risk of multiple births, premature delivery, and formation of large ovarian cysts. These treatmen...
Have you ever wondered what your parents look like or if they are thinking of you? Adoption can have that effect on children. What is adoption? Adoption is the process of providing parents with children and children with families when birth parents are unwilling or unable to care for their offspring. Adoption can make a child feel abandon, unloved, and have low self-esteem.
When a couple or individual decides to adopt a child, they know they are going to take on the responsibility of taking care of someone else’s child. Due to the biological parent(s) who can’t take care of that child anymore, because of either drug abuse, alcohol abuse, abuse to the child or if the parent(s) had died and there is no other care for the child. So that’s why this gives other couples who cannot have kids, the opportunity to promise themselves to be a great parent to a child in need. Though there are some bad things about adoption as well. Like adopting a child from another country of another race, because once that child is adopted into an American family, he or she will be cut off from their culture and never know about their history. Everyone should to know about their culture and history.
Adoption is such a great thing, and provides many children, with a family they have always wanted. There are local adoptions, domestic adoptions within families, and international adoptions. Even though adoption is a wonderful thing, there can be a negative side as well. There is always a risk of the children not bonding with the adoptive parents. These children, unfortunately, are at a higher risk for mental health disorders, and also, they are at risk for abandonment issues. There are community programs that aim to help adoptive parents, and the children.
“The most horrible war of all has gone all but unnoticed. This is a war going on within our own borders, and it has claimed 58 million American lives in the last 44 years” (TFP Student Action n.pag.). Abortion comes from the women not being responsible for the mistakes they make, even when there are other options. Pain is for the fetuses during the surgery and it is gruesome and harmful. Murder is a crime that is being committed every day to the innocent babies. Abortion is not beneficial for women and fetuses because a woman's role is to be responsible for herself and to be responsible for her choices, it is affecting fetuses in harmful ways, and it is murder.
The process to adopt a child is a wait of two to seven years, leaving most of the young children time to grow older. The usual demand for an older kid is not as high as it is for a younger child; therefore, the wait to adopt an older kid should be lessened to an easier and faster process, as well as the process to adopt a young child. This would give the children a chance at being adopted earlier, instead of them growing up and being set aside when a younger child arrives. I also think when adopting an older kid, the adoptive parents should not have to go through the same long wait time they would if they were to adopt a toddler or an infant.
In the World, there are a lot of couples who are unfortunate and are unable to be able to give birth to children, making them infertile. There are a lot of different methods of contraceptives that infertile parents can use to have a baby, but the one I will be talking about today is IVF: In-vitro fertilization. There are hundreds of thousands of test tube babies living in the world right now, and is a very known method of having babies. According to the Centres for Disease Control (CDC), in the year 2002, about 2%, which is 1.2 million of the 62 million American Women, had a doctor’s appointment related to infertility, and most of those appointments were for IVF. (Source: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/general-article/babies-today/) The IVF treatment was invented in order to grant infertile couples the happiness of having a child, however, it is when fertilization occurs outside the body. On Average, 1 in 8 American couples experience infertility, and 1.1 million of these peo...
This alone can be beneficial and an advantage of eugenics. Parents can see the likelihood of their future children being born with a disorder and look into different options. They would be prepared to meet their child’s medical needs if they do want to conceive. Genetic modification can also allow parents to choose the sex of their child, this isn’t as beneficial but can be useful in countries like China where the number of offspring is limited. As well as gender, genetic modification can allow certain traits such as mental disorders to be
