Hazel Bergeron in “Harrison Bergeron” is perhaps not the most obviously important character, when compared to the intellectual abilities of George Bergeron, she does not stand out. When comparing her to the great force that is Harrison, or the great beauty of the ballerina, again, she does not stand out. However, Hazel stands for much more than any of the other preceding characters, even Harrison himself. In the story of “Harrison Bergeron” Kurt Vonnegut establishes Hazel Bergeron as the light, sympathy, and, in some ways, foundation of the story; illustrating the kindness of humanity in the worst of times.

A father can have the greatest impact on his son, acting as a role- model and has a strong influence. Arnold Junior was named after his father who took a larger part in his life. If somebody read this book once and just skimmed through it, they would probably just think of his father as a crazy alcoholic who sometimes forgot about his son. There was more of a role that Junior’s father played in the book. The small details Sherman Alexie expressed really helped us see the impact Junior’s father had on him. For example, Junior wore his father’s suit to the Reardon dance, and that made him feel more confident and better about himself. In the book, there is this theme about how the young and the old have their own different takes on hope.
On the evening of Friday, February 1, 2002, Danielle van Dam's mother Brenda Van Dam and two girlfriends went out on a girl’s night out. Danielle's father Damon stayed at home to look after Danielle and her two brothers. Her father put Danielle to bed around 10:30 p.m., and he said she fell asleep. The next morning, Danielle was not in her room and they searched for her and when they figured she was not in the house they called the police at 9:39 in the morning.

Whitney is also a hunter, but shows empathy for her prey while speaking with Rainsford on the yacht. During their conversation on the yacht, Rainsford remains indifferent, classifying the world by two classes: “the hunters and the huntees” (63).When Rainsford finds himself in Zaroff’s imposing dining room, he begins to lose his nerve and briefly experiences trepidation similar to Whitney’s previously in the story, although as the story progresses he, once again, becomes a beast of prey, similar to Zaroff.

Lance Carter was undoubtedly Rose’s favorite mystery. He was alway a man that decided for himself who he was going to be. Impossibly hard to read and extremely well off in every department that mattered (to him, at least), his spontaneity was the only characteristic of his personality that never completely altered. The number of feelings he expressed with every bright eyed gaze, drew people towards him. But no one saw every side of his multifaceted personality. At every moment he was something, but also the exact contradiction. A real life version of Pandora’s box. Every answer he gave always held some sort of ambiguity, but his actions more often decided his opinions than his countless words.
