Concert Critique

A few days ago, on January 28th, I was able to attend a free live concert at the Bing Theater of the Los Angeles county of Museum of Art. It was the first live classical concert I have ever attended in my life. The performances were purely instrumental music. The concert featured different composers belonging to different eras of music such as Bach from the Baroque era and Beethoven from the Classical and Romantic Era. The variety of compositions, even though small, and their eras of music made the concert very interesting. The setting of the concert is impressive in person. It reminded me a bit of the setting of a movie theater. There were many rows of folded chairs that were very comfortable to sit on. An employee told me that it could hold around 500 people. It was also interesting to notice that the seats heading further back were more elevated than the seats that were near the very front of the stage. I sat down near the very middle of the auditorium because I personally thought I would get the best view. Whether it was the best view or not, I do not know. The young performers come from the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences. These upcoming artists are still basically in high school! What made this concert unique, however, was the fact that the concert switched to new performers after every composition. This concert did not have the same set of performers to perform the entire concert. These performers only played string instruments (the violin, viola, or cello) or a keyboard instrument (the piano). Since the space the stage had available for the performers was not much, there would only be up to 4 people at a time on the stage playing their instruments, and the performers playing the string instruments were always in front of the
