There are many political discussions I would like to talk about, but I narrowed it into six topics: should abortion be legal? Should animals be used for scientific and commercial testing? Should death penalty be allowed? Should adults have the right to concealed handguns? Should gay marriage be illegal? and last but not least, should the federal minimum wage be increased? Here are my outlooks. Reproductive choice empowers women by giving them control over their own bodies. The choice over when and whether to have children is central to a woman's independence and ability to determine her future. It is a self defense to protect the innocent. Death penalties execute that the killer will never kill again. Many people who just lives life in jail doesn’t learn their mistakes. I feel as if the crimes today are even more heinous then before, which could be a problem. Responsible citizens should have the right to carry a concealed handgun and to arm themselves against criminals with guns. Concealed handguns have a sense of security and safety. It’s found that many police offers support the concealed carry of guns by civilians. Concealed handguns protect people who cannot always rely on police forces for protection. The answer is yes. $7.25 is too low for anyone to live on. A higher minimum wage will help create jobs and grow the economy. Minimum wage is one of the primary causes of wage inequality between low and middle income workers. This will increase poverty. If minimum wage increase, this will reduce poverty and government welfare spending. You see, if low-income workers earned more money, their dependence and eligibility of government spending would decrease. Current minimum wage is not high enough to allow people to afford housing. A worker must earn at least $15.50 an hour (over twice the federal minimum wage) to be able to afford to rent a "modest" one-bedroom apartment, and $19.35 for a two-bedroom unit. A 40-hour work week for minimum is just not enough, nor is it enough to allow people to afford their basic living expenses. Raising minimum wage would also increase school attendance and decrease high school drop-outs rates. Studies found that teens who live in poverty are most likely to miss 3 or more days of school per month compared to those who do not.
