Concealed Weapons Permit: A Path to Self-Protection

The benefit of having a concealed weapons permit in the United States of America is that fact that you know you are always safe not having to depend on others, but having the ability to protect yourself. “In June 2008, the court ruled the law that strictly limited the possession of handguns in the Washington, D.C. area as unconstitutional (Levinson).” In our nation’s capital this happened, because if individuals were not given the right of a concealed weapon or any kind of gun that is not going along with the Constitution of the United States. the Constitution protects not only the rights of states to maintain militias, but also the rights of citizens to own a gun for such purposes as self-defense and hunting (Levinson).” This applies to concealed weapons, in the sense of them having the purpose of self-defense. They help in times where conversation can’t persuade someone do harm to the single individual or even the group as a whole. “Since 1987 many states have adopted laws that allow their citizens to obtain licenses to carry concealed guns (Levinson).” When people travel to different states around the U.S.

they can have the satisfaction of knowing people around them could possible save their live, because of concealed weapons. Even though they can sometimes be permitted with the wrong person, and they make bad choices of use for their weapon, they can still benefit more than they hurt. In situations like a bank robbery a concealed weapon would come in handy. Not only would it save the person, but also everyone else in the bank. Another situation would be when a young girl walking home late at night and some guy comes and tries to attack her, but then she can defend herself by pulling out her gun. Both of these scenarios happen on a daily basis in all across the country. The use of concealed weapon permits will greatly impact how society can function in chaos and also in everyday actions. “Opponents of laws forbidding concealed weapons argue that criminals are less likely to commit crimes if they think their victims may be armed (Zimring).” Concealed weapons are usually hidden somewhere on the individual, but other times it is in plain sight. Most criminals that have attempted to harm someone that looked free from weapons, usually ended up curled on the ground or fleeing from the

scene.
