Computers and Firefighting
It seems that the advances of today are moving far more rapidly than people have ever thought about. The only question is that how much farther can we go in the advancement of computer technology to support people. One of the ways to support people is in the area of Firefighting. In this field the firemen with help of computers is allowed to help civilians when they are in need. The job of now is becoming a little safer to do because of newly advances by computers in the firefighting field. Three important ways computers have contributed is in the ways firemen can refine their own personal knowledge of the job, personal protective equipment (PPE), and one of the tools invented to locate people.
The topic for computer advancement, is of a field that is one of the most critical services given to people. Why? It is one of most demanding jobs because of what the fireman actually does. In most senses his or her job is not to only fight fires, but also to search out for life within the fire, administer aid if needed, along with the searching for clues to what might have been the cause for the accident or blaze. The Fireman combines the work ethic of not only his or her job, but along with knowledge of a nurse and police officer. True, he or she does not always play a role on the other areas besides fighting fires, but they have to be able to pick-up where ever they are needed in whatever role. In order to broaden the knowledge of the firemen, it is most commonly done through new types of studying and training. A firemen can take lessons of a CD with help of a computer, and run simulations on their own to refine and expand their own personal abilities as a fireman. Now all they have to do it go to a computer and learn what they need to know, at times even through interactive lessons, instead of using the old method of reading textbooks, magazines, journals, or where ever else the information lies for them to find.
In the area of the firemen¡¦s own personal protective equipment, it too has be advanced because of computers. Twenty-five years ago, the turnout gear worn by firefighters was used to keep the firefighter from getting wet mainly then with the introduction of Nomex, which was a self-extinguishing man-made material, then came Gortex and PBI.
Those interested in pursuing a career in firefighting are faced with many options when it comes to selecting a department to apply to. Attaining a career with Columbus Fire is often a goal of students in Central Ohio, and for good reason.
These ten things are necessary for any new firefighter. If you wish to be successful you must respect the job, ask questions when in doubt, manage your ego, understanding failure equal death, how to maintain a truck, handling an emergency, safety, accountability and keep an open mind to learning new things. It is hard work, but it totally worth it in long run. Remember stay hungry to learn, study new fireground tactics. Learn by doing, reading, and listening.
LSD has proved that the mind contains much higher powers and energies, beyond the average10% of the brain that a typical human uses. These powers and energies, under the right circumstances, can be taken advantage of to benefit human kind spiritually, creatively, therapeutically, and intellectually. LSD has given human kind the option to chemically trigger mental energies and powers. Arguments that LSD is potentially a dangerous discovery and mind control should be strictly prohibited by the government holds much validity, although there are benefits and arguments of personal freedom of neurology to consider. Whether LSD reflects negativity as a weapon and mind control drug, or radiates euphoria as a mind-expanding chemical and sacrament, the choice to engage in such an experience should be through personal reasoning. It is not the states and other bureaucracies’ duties to take control of the human brain and body.
The intense stimulant lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) can briefly possess the mind of an individual who ingests it. As a result of its intensity and capability to open the "entryways of recognition," LSD could be violent to the psyche (Baker, 1999). It can seize the user's brain, tenderly uncovering life's dormant truths, or it can turn angry, decreasing the user to a state of complete panic. Obviously, LSD is not to be taken carelessly. This makes dosing an unknowing individual with it, particularly one who isn't familiar with LSD's properties, an especially frightful act. An individual unacquainted with LSD and completely unaware they had been dosed could be brought to the edge of mental breakdown.
During the 1950’s, experimentation of LSD on humans began (Solomon, 1964, p. 56). Since there were few restrictions on using humans for experimentation at the time, scientists were free to administer the drug widely, hoping to find some useful therapeutic value for the drug. Because of Hoffman’s LSD account of depersonalization produced by the drug. Early studies were done using the drug to treat various psychiatric disorders. It was felt that if a person could "step outside" themselves and...
Lysergic acid diethylamide, abbreviated LSD, is one of the most powerful substances in the world. Named LSD-25, as it was the 25th compound deriving from lysergic acid systematically developed by its chemist inventor, was first synthesized in 1938 and discovered to be psychoactive in 1943. It would reach peak popularity as a street drug in the 60’s and by 1968 it became illegal to possess. Hallucinogens produce quite a complex experience that affects the physical sense, the mind, and alter the mood. These experiences, often described as psychedelic, have been experienced as spiritual journeys and used as a form of medical treatment since ancient cultures first discovered their potential. The enormous spiritual and cultural importance has protected the substance Peyote (Mescaline) for exclusively the Native American Church in the USA (Robins, 1996). But no other substance has the same protection though have held heavy cultural and spiritual importance. LSD is one of those substances, it is a semi-synthetic substance, classified as a Schedule 1 controlled substance, and ramifications for possession are similar to those of highly addicting and dangerous substances like Heroin. This classification has drawn controversy, but there are two sides to every tale, this is a substance of remarkable potential for both euphoria and hell. It is safe to say LSD creates unpredictable experiences, and much remains unknown about this heavily criminalized substance.
In the history of mankind, the hallucinogens have probably been the most important of the narcotics. Their fantastic effects made the...
The Fire and Rescue Service employ a number of styles of communication to suit diverse audiences and for different purposes. The organization communicates with its members of staff differently depending on the circumstances and the message which is being conveyed. With such a large organization approximately 2200 members of staff effective communication is essential. Effective communication plays a vital role in the delivery of all Fire and Rescue Services.
Even though, the Eiffel Tower is a renowned monument for France. Being that it was originally built as an entrance way, some precautions were made. The safety procedures distributed were moveable staging, guard rails and screens. So, only one man died during construction (“Building Eiffel Tower”). The tower stands 320 meters tall, it uses over 18,000 pieces in the steel structure. Each year the high heats cause the structure to grow six inches, but then retracts back after the summer time. So, that is why the idea of thermal rivets were used in assembly because the rivets allow the structure to keep its shape. Over 2.5 million rivets were used (“Building Eiffel Tower”). This construction cost France over 7.31 million francs. The tower was many different colors until they officially settled for bronze. It was red, mustard yellow, and even chestnut brown (“Chisholm”).
Everyone has their own interpretation of what a firefighter is or does. The dictionaries definition says, “A person who is trained to put fires out, rescue people from fires, educate the public about fire prevention, and help people in other emergencies.” My definition of a firefighter growing up was a person who runs through burning building and found people who are screaming and crying, to save them. Now growing up with the desire to become a firefighter my definition has changed to someone, a women or man, who not only thinks about themselves but about the lives and loved ones of others. Whether it is rescuing people from a burning building, caring for their medical needs, extinguishing fires in a house, large building, or in a vehicle, this profession is about helping others.
My mother always said, “Everyone acknowledges the dangers of drugs, but people still do them, and I can not grasp why”. Well in this research paper I will discuss the dangers of three different drugs, stimulants, depressants, and hallucinogens. More specifically, Cocaine, Alcohol, and LSD(Acid). 25% of American adults ages 26-34 have tried cocaine at least once in their life (Cocaineaddiction.ws). In 2006, there were more than 1.2 million emergency room visits and 2.7 million physician office visits due to excessive drinking(Bouchery EE, Harwood HJ, Sacks JJ, Simon CJ, Brewer RD.). And 5.90 adults from the age of 18-25 have used LSD in their lifetime(Office of National Drug Control Policy). It is important to know about these drugs because not only can it affect you, it can affect your neighbor, therefore the more educated you are on these subjects and risk factors the better off you are.

Technology over the years has improved in the criminal justice system. Ever since the 1960s criminal justice systems have used technology to advance and gain a better knowledge of the different issues and encounters officers may face. Technology is used to improve the day-to-day operations, decrease operation cost and increase strategic planning and tactical approaches.
There are many tracking technologies that law enforcement are using in this day and age. Using newly developed technology may help law enforcement capture criminals much faster. Also, this enables officers to respond more quickly to a crime scene. Using some of these equipment can save a person’s life with a quick response.
