Computer history is based and consisted of different components during different periods of time. There are five different generations and during each one, different components are invented and used to make computers better. The development of computers is known as generations. Usually, the generations develop how computers operate, to make them smaller, cheaper, and make it more efficient and more reliable. All the generations started in 1940 by ENIAC. All computers till 2014 use low language, but humans use high level language which is close to English. Low level language is a computer language which is consisted of zeros and ones. In the fifth generation, many different ideas had been developed and started from 1985. Some of these ideas are video games, voice recognition, and robots. Many people felt the difference in this generation because machines started to be more useful and used everywhere. There is one main goal for the fifth generation, which is computers use fiber technology. The use of fiber technology should help in by computers overtake and perform the task needed without needing the order from a human. The fifth generation tried also to use nanotechnology, molecular, and quantum computation which was a device that was consisted of unlimited lengthened tape. The quantum computers had beed developed that it is faster at doing calculations than the silicon based computer. After Alan Turing invented turning machine, which was a device that was made of tape of an unlimited length and can hold a zero, a one, or a blank place, the quantum was invented which helped because the unlimited length tapes were placed inside the quantum state. The person who should be credited because of his work on quantum computers is Paul Benioff. He created quantum computers in 1981 after the development of turning machines. Technology Is What You Make It The articles “How Computers Change the Way We Think” by Sherry Turkle and “Electronic Intimacy” by Christine Rosen argue that technology is quite damaging to society as a whole and that even though it can at times be helpful it is more damaging. I have to agree and disagree with this because it really just depends on how it is used and it can damage or help the user. The progressing changes in technology, like social media, can both push us, as a society, further and closer to and from each other and personal connections because it has become a tool that can be manipulated to help or hurt our relationships and us as human beings who are capable of more with and without technology. Technology makes things more efficient and instantaneous.
These statistics are amazing, but even more amazing is the development of computers. Now in 2005, in this short 68-year period, computer technology has changed its entire look; now, we use computer chips instead of vacuum tubes and circuit board instead of wires. The changes in size and speed are probably the biggest. When we look at computers today, it is very hard to imagine computers 60 years ago were such big, heavy monsters.
The only that progressed is how we’ve given the instructions used to tell the computer what to with the data: flipping switches by hand (machine code) which was an awful painful task, later computer languages (English words computers could translate into binary code) were created making programming much easier only needing to type lists of instructions. First generation languages are machine level languages which basically consist of 1’s and 0’s. Instructions had to be entered through the front switches and no translators were used. The main advantage was that a code written by a user could run very fast and efficiently because it was executed directly by the CPU. They were introduced in the 1940’s. Even though programs written were small and simple, it was hectic to correct it if an error occurred. Examples are architecture specific binary delivered on switches or tapes.
Technology has shaped America in many ways from developing complex computer systems available to the everyday people to being able to track weather patterns across the world. Without technology, we certainly would not be where we are today as a high tech society. A lot of this technology came from World War II. During World War II, the atomic bomb prevailed making it the most high tech weapon in history. Radar equipment was also produced, as well as medicines to prevent diseases, nutrition research, high horsepower jet engines to power aircraft, and the V-1 and V-2 rockets. Through all of this technology, World War II was known as the first high technology war.

From the 1980s onward, our level of technology- especially communication-based technologies- increased exponentially year by year, giving us inventions (and their subsequent additions) such as the mobile cell phone, the Internet, email, instant message and social media platforms. In fact, the advent of the Internet and social media has created a smaller, wired world wherein an individual can communicate with someone from across the world in the blink of an eye.
In the mid?1950's, the transistor was introduced, creating a more reliable computer. Computers were used primarily for scientific and engineering calculations and were programmed mainly in FORTRAN and assembly language.
It was January of 1975 when the first personal computer Altair 8800 was invented by an ex air force officer from Georgia, Ed Roberts. His motivation was his interest of having a personal computer to play with, since computer back then was scarce and was difficult to come across. The Altair 8800 was invented in Albuquerque New Mexico where Ed Roberts was running his calculator business called MITS. It was believed that Ed Robert’s Altair was the spark that started the fire, and gave personal computer a chance to be seen in everyone’s desk. Ed Roberts used a microprocessor (8080), to launch Altair, a chip that he got from Intel, the creator of chips, chips that they saw as useful only for calculators and traffic lights, but Ed Robert’s saw more. Microprocessor was a technological breakthrough that made personal computer possible, without it, the first personal computer would have never existed. Altair did basic computing, but it was a pain to use. Keying in data and instructions strenuously by flipping switches, that was really all that the Altair could do. So, those who had interest in technology decided to form a club called the “Homebrew Computer Club” at Stanford University in Silicon Valley , mainly to talk about computer, and how they could improve it. For Ed Roberts building more innovative personal computer was not the path that he chose to continue on doing, rather he sold his company MITS and pursue doctorate in his hometown, Georgia.
The technology boom in the 1990’s has provided society with access to large amounts of knowledge through means such as the internet. While most rejoice due to the instant access of information, others argue that it is making the younger generations idle and ignorant. The argument that Generation Y is the ‘dummest generation’ is about as absurd as the argument that there are nazi werewolves living on the darkside of the moon. Technology is just another media through which one can find information, providing an advantage to every person with internet access. If Generation Y is the ‘dummest generation’, then what does that make the generation who raised us?
Innovation is the breakthrough to the future. There is a enormous amount of information us humans do not know. How can we solve these unknown answers? The biggest solution is, quantum computing. This is how quantum computers work, how they are made, how a person can program a quantum computer, and how it will change our future as we know it.

Though students have a variety of information at their finger tips, this can cause temptation for students to plagiarize. Devices such as iPads and laptops are useful learning tools, but at the same time they can be a huge source of distractions. While students should be taking notes, they could be browsing the web, updating social media sites, watching videos, playing games or other distracting things.
In 1947 Howard Aiken, an engineer, predicted six computers would satisfy the computing needs of the U.S. By the year 1955, 244 computer systems were in use and by 1984 U.S. businesses and individuals purchased over two million personal computers. By 1994, shipments of over 47 million personal computers were made worldwide. The use of personal computers has increased rapidly over the past half-century and therefore the need for new hardware and software will keep the need for computer engineers to continue producing new products.
