1.0 INTRODUCTION Science and technology constantly evolving and changing. The latest released product will surpassed the earliest. The earliest will only become a history. Therefore, computer scientist are striving to develop and finding the newest and ideal to fulfill the need of users. This assignment aimed to identify the computer components, its function, its importance as well as the latest and the future technologies of the pointing devices, central processing unit (CPU), memory, disk controller, disk, and monitor. 2.0 POINTING DEVICES Pointing device is an input devices that is used to allow user to input data to a computer. It is connected to the computers or laptops using a USB, PS/2, serial, or Bluetooth connection (Tyler, 2008). It functions to point somewhere on the monitor, click and drag item in the computer. It plays an importance role enables user interact with the computer for many purpose such as surfing the web, editing document, editing images, computer games (Kirschner, 2010) and many others. It is defined as a piece of equipment used for moving a cursor on a computer screen (Mac-Millan Dictionary). There are many types of pointing devices nowadays such as mouse, trackball, pointing stick, joystick, touch pad, touch screen, light pen and digitizer tablet. Pointing devices are used depend on the types of task to perform in the computer. For example, joystick is often used to control play games. Digitizer tablet and light pen is used for drawing new images or tracing old images. It is usually used for drawing maps and engineering design. However, the most commonly used pointing devices nowadays are the mouse and touch screen. Mouse has four types which are mechanical, optical, touch sensitive and wireless mou... ... middle of paper ... ...an the CRT monitors and the LCD monitors are significantly thinner having lower radiation emissions. Few years’ back, Plasma came in the scene and they are gradually making its space in the market. However, after that, LED displays came and won over Plasma and LCD technology which is has various advantages over LCD technology like better image quality, low power consumption. After that, the latest technology for monitor is the Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) which is has advantage over LED. It is directly produce the correct color, fast response time, wide viewing angles, outstanding contrast levels and perfect brightness, OLED displays are surely better than the existing other display technologies. OLED technology is used in commercial applications such as displays for mobile phones and portable digital media players, car radios and digital cameras among others.
I use the keyboard to be able to type it, the mouse to be able to point on the screen and click or access my data by using the mouse arrow. USB to be able to save my data, edit it later and allow me to organise my files for example to create folders and sub-folders for my files.
If you ask people to name one of the most important technologies of the twentieth century, one of the answers would most certainly be the computer. A computer, however, is not a technology all to itself. Many other technologies went into the modern home computers of today, including the mouse. Douglas C. Engelbart, a worker at the SRI (Stanford Research Institute), invented the mouse in 1964. However, the process of the invention of the mouse was not instantaneous and without effect on the realm of computing and society. In this paper I will be examining the problems that had to be overcome and the technologies that had to be invented for the mouse to become a reality. It also analyzes the impacts it has had on society and the computer industry.
Until recently people were stuck with large clumsy CRT (Cathode ray tube) devises within their everyday life, within the space of a decade after their move to television screens LCD’s (Liquid Crystal displays) and plasma screens have made CRT Displays obsolete. In this article I will explain in detail how the basic physics of LCD technology and plasma works and compare the two and decide which one is better for your needs. The wide range of applications for LCD displays are used for is impressive; they include computer monitors, televisions, instrument panels and signage. Many Consumer devices such as video players, gaming devices, clocks, watches, calculators, and mobile phones have benefited from the unique Characteristics of LCD displays. They are available in a wider range of screen sizes than CRT and plasma displays and are the most popular display technology by far. Plasma screens have some advantages over LCD screens
Windows hardware’s has played a vital role in current technology of computer era. Computer application has significantly changed the workloads and manual records and information keeping has been significantly managed easily. This has been tremendously associated with the respective improvements with the software and hardware application development and Windows Xp and windows 7 have been most powerful operating system used by many computer applicants and users.
The monitor is likely the most important part of the computer. Without it, you would have no idea what you were doing. Imagine trying to write a term paper, or surf the Internet without one. It would be impossible. While the technology powering the displays doesn’t change as fast as it does for other parts of the computer, there are advances which provide consumers with many choices for displays. Today, the most popular displays come in two types, Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) and Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs). CRTs have been around longer, and are the most common due to the fact that they are cheaper. However the convenient size of LCDs along with falling prices has made them a popular choice as of late. This paper will examine the similarities and differences of the two, and try to determine if one is better than the other.
The computing system and peripheral devices purchased by this user must be the latest technology in order for him to be successful in his current classes and the courses that he will require in the future. The ideal computer and software package for this person would include a fast processor with new word processing and desktop publishing software, advanced audio and video editing capabilities, and an impressive audio/ visual display with one of the latest video cards available. Also, it is required that the system is fast, efficient, easy to work with, and cost effective.
From a layman’s eye, LCD and plasma TVs may look alike; however, a keen eye will notice the difference between these sets. These differences permit customers to have a manifold of choices based on their particular requirements. A plasma display comprises of two glass panels packed in compartmentalized spaces, with many small plasma cells. Plasma cells are normally charged to a precise electrical voltage level (Kith, Plasma TV Components). On the other hand, an LCD display is comprised of aqueous crystals that are normally preset between two panels of glass (Reed, Architecture of the TV). Displays are further enhanced by utilizing electricity voltage on the LCD TV set panel.
The OLED Smart TV satisfies customers who are looking for a television that provides a high-end, dynamic viewing experience. This product particularly appeals to early adapters of innovative and creative electronics, due to the fact that the OLED Smart TV is attributed with several ground-breaking features. Am...

The purpose of this experiment was to find out which of the two typing methods is the most efficient; touch or combined. An observation made about the topic is that the touch-typing method is very common and favored because it is based on muscle memory and helps the person’s health. The combined typing method is just a person’s own way of typing or an alternative if they dislike touch-typing. Touch-typing is just placing fingers on the home row keys (asdf, jkl;) and the finger closes to the key is the finger used to strike it. Typing with one hand, two fingers, or having two hands on the keyboard with no specific place to set your fingers is classified as the combined typing method. The combined typing method is also based on muscle memory, but not as effective as the touch-typing method. In conclusion, the need to look at the keyboard gradually decreases for both methods.
Input devices are common peripherals such as a mouse, keyboard etc. An output device would be objects such as a TV projector/monitor or a printer. However, with computers they only can handle data/information that is in a digitalised format, which means it much be converted, however with outputted devices they read data in an analogue form so it needs to be converted back to this format before it can be read, some of this information was taken from, (BBC Guides,

...interact. Smart televisions, games consoles and computer systems will be the first to adopt this new HCI technology. However, other devices such as light switches and other environmental devices could use gesture control systems.
The second classification of computers is portable computers. This type of classification includes lap tops and palm tops. The personal digital assistant or PDA was designed to help people stay organized. This was expanded upon and now PDA's offer a variety of services. PDA's are "easy to use and capable of sharing information with your PC. It's supposed to be an extension of the PC, not a replacement" with many different types of services (How PDAs Work p. 1). Many PDA's are even capable of connecting with the Internet and act as global positioning devices. Other portable computers are now available.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is the first term that comes to mind when thinking of problems that people experience with computer use regarding their hands. Based on my limited knowledge of this topic, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs due to a persons prolonged usage of a computer keyboard. Problems of this sort occur more often due to poor ergonomics and posture. Computer office furniture that does not allow one to adjust the height of the chair or keyboard, so that the arms form a write angle at the elbow, cause strain on the wrist, which may result in carpal tunnel syndrome. People who use computers for long periods of time without giving themselves a break and flexing their wrist have a higher propensity of developing problems.
