First of all, the protagonist of The Call of the Wild, Buck, is a complete alpha dog. Realistically, nobody can catch up to Bucks skill level. Buck’s muscles became as hard as iron, and he grew callous to all ordinary
Many great authors that study human nature stood out the most during the period of time between the Imperialism and World War II. Among these authors were George Orwell and Virginia Woolf. Their study of the human nature is especially visible in certain short stories that each author respectively did. Orwell’s “Shooting an Elephant” and Woolf’s “The Death of the Moth.” In either of these stories the respective author uses animals to depict their complex ideas about the nature of life, men, and the whole world.
Themes are known to characterize the main idea or the many conflicts that occur within a storyline. They are the hidden foundation that the storyline follows. It is clear to say that both of these outstanding pieces of work have similar themes such as nature v. humanity, man v. man, and man v. himself. Nature v. Humanity is presented in the short narrative of Lanval through the characters of the Queen and young beautiful woman who stole Sir Lanval’s heart. The reason why this can be displayed as nature v. humanity is because the queen represents humanity. She is the one who is made through flesh and blood, and she is viewed and portrayed as the key
In Bless the Beasts and the Children, symbols and motifs help progress the story and develop the theme that ?when faced with a certain situation, boys will do great things?. The boys can use symbols and motifs to help them get through obstacles without giving up and acheive their goal. The boys also give up symbols and motifs they used for comfort or stability that they no longer need because of their independence and maturity.
In the movies White Zombie and The Night of the Living Dead there were some similarities, but mostly there were mostly differences. The similarities were that both zombies were not running they were walking zombies. Also both zombies had no soul and had no control over what they could do.
The theme of the novel is the collapse of the society. The friendships among the boys are destructive because they do not realize the beast inside of them. They show their ego to each other. The beast is something evil within themselves and it is not a savage animal that is caved ‘Lord of the Flies’.
One of the main character’s, Littlest One, is full of curiosity which helps her at times but also can put her in danger. Being so curious also angered her previous teacher, it seems that the community of creatures don't really question things and more just accept them for the way they are, kind of like the people in The Giver...
This leads to the fact that a beast really does exist within all human beings, but is only expressed when human instinct for survival becomes the main objective. At first the boys aren?t able to kill, but as survival instinct starts taking over, the reader?s are able to se the true character?s play out, and lives are compromised. ?You feel as if you?re not hunting, but- being hunted, as if something?s behind you all the time in the jungle,? (pg.53) proves that it?s every man for himself and people will do anything to survive. An example of this in the novel was when Robert became the ?pig,? and was wounded even though it wasn?t intentional, but the situation became worse when Piggy?s death happened as a result of all civilization lost and evil taken over.
Talented writers can take another’s work and expand it further into new potential. By adding details or introspection, a director or writer of an adaptation can achieve in pushing the boundaries of the original piece. In the case of Where the Wild Things Are, a children’s picture book written and illustrated by Maurice Sendak, was expanded into a far more complex and emotionally developed work. The novel’s world flourishes into an intricate story through both the film adaptation and its novelization counterpart. Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers offer a darker, yet vivid variation of Sendak’s classic book by crafting a more dynamic version and cultivating the story with rich character depth and development. Through their choices in writing and direction,
The abundant animal imagery in Timothy Findley's book The Wars is used to develop characterization and theme. The protagonist, Robert Ross, has a deep connection with animals that reflects his personality and the situations that he faces. This link between Robert and the animals shows the reader that human nature is not much different than animal nature.
There are many themes that occur and can be interpreted differently throughout the novel. The three main themes that stand out most are healing, communication, and relationships.
Jack London uses the idea of Darwinism in White Fang and in Call of the Wild. According to Charles Darwin, this is the theory of survival of the fittest. Jack uses this theory throughout both of these books, thus gives the reader a good idea of what is going to happen in the book, and how it is going to pan out. Buck started out as a tame dog and ate whatever the judge had fed him, then later started eating wild food and ate whatever was on the trail. The eating habits of White Fang had really changed from the time he was a pup to his final destination with Weeden Scott in California.
In the beginning, Buck and White Fang are reciprocal but also diverse. First, Buck and White Fang are both half breeds. For example, Buck is half Saint Bernard from his father, and half Scotch Shephard from his mother. White Fang is half husky from his father, and half wolf from his mother. Since they are both half-breeds, they are similar. Second, both dogs are both strong and ingenious. For instance, Buck got his large size from his father, and his intelligence and great stamina from his mother. White Fang also got his strength from his husky father, and his

A strong theme in literature evokes an emotion from the reader. It pulls the reader into the work and sets a certain tone. It is the link between the reader and the work. In John Steinbeck 's The Pearl and Of Mice and Men the theme of poverty is the most prevalent throughout. This theme is strongly demonstrated through the settings, characters and symbols in both works.
