Individuals across the world love watching and keeping up with NBA Basketball. It’s where the best athletes in the world play competitively. During the NBA’s 67 year span, there’s been two infamous shooting guards to play the game, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. These two athletes have always been compared by fans and sports analysts; debating which player shines over another. People’s choice on the matter usually depends on the athlete’s scoring, MVPs, and championships.
Michael Jordan has played in NBA for 15 seasons and has scored a career total of 32,292 points. This year in 2016, Kobe Bryant played his final game against the Utah Jazz. After 20 years in the league Bryant accumulated 33,643 career points. While both of these scoring

achievements are very impressive, Kobe had five more years to put up more numbers. Michael was just in general a better scorer. This statement stands true because Jordan has won 10 scoring titles and averaged 30.1 ppg. Bryant is no doubt a deadly scoring machine. Over his NBA career he has won 2 scoring titles and averaged 25.0 ppg. What stands Kobe apart from Michael in scoring is that he has scored at least 40 points on every NBA team.
If you’re not big NBA advocate like I am, I’ll briefly explain what a NBA MVP is. It’s a certain award a player receives for his great play during the regular season. As of 2010, fans do an online voting system to determine the MVP. This award is a special honor for a player to receive, as it recognizes their performance throughout the season. Michael topples Kobe in this category. Jordan has 5 total MVPS and Kobe only has 1. Both athletes are excellent, but Michael just a better all around player.
Every NBA player’s dream is to win a championship. It’s remarkable achievement a player can receive while in the league. It takes a lot blood, sweat, and tears to win one. Michael has 6 championships, compared to Kobe’s 5. Jordan is also flawless in the finals winning 6 out 6. On the other hand Kobe has been to the finals 7 times and is 5 out 7. Also Jordan adds 6 Finals MVP trophies, while Bryant only has 2.
I believe Michael Jordan is better player than Kobe Bryant. The statistics between these players shows who thrives over another. Both these basketball hall of famers are legendary shooting guards. Both have dominated the game during their time period and will always be remember to generations to come.
