Have you ever wondered which cardio exercises are best for burning off extra body fat? Is walking (low intensity) better or running (high intensity) better for burning body fat? Well, both low and high intensity exercises will help you burn off body fat. The question is which is more effective and burn more body fat. What is your fat burning zone? When scientists first reported that during intensive exercises, your body burn glycogen, which is a form of stored carbohydrates stored in your liver and muscles for energy and during low intensive exercises, your body burn body fat, everyone suddenly change their workout routines to perform low intensity exercises to burn body fat. Does it work? Obviously it does not work because there are still
Over a three week period a test subject was instructed to come to the exercise physiology lab once a week. The purpose of the first week was to determine the baseline test data for the participant. During this first week, the subject was asked how many hours of sleep they had gotten the night before and how much they weighed. The subject was then instructed to put on a heart monitor and wear an O2 apparatus and begin running on a treadmill. This treadmill was set at zero incline for the beginning of the run until three minutes had passed. At the three minute mark the incline increased by 2.5%. After this the incline was continuously increased by 2.5% every two minutes. During this process, the VO2 and RER exchange rate of the subject was being tracked through the O2 apparatus. Their heart rate was recorded every 15 seconds. In addition, the subject was asked their perceived exertion at every increase in incline. The subject continued to run until they could not run anymore, at this time they would hop off the treadmill.
Kerr (2012) states that there are 3 main types of exercise which are aerobic, strength/resistance training and flexibility exercises. Aerobic exercises will help keep the heart, lungs and muscles healthy, and when paired with a healthy diet will aid in weight loss. Appropriate resistance training will help to improve strength, posture and balance as well as causing the participant’s body to look more toned. Also the build up of muscle will aid with weight loss as at rest muscle burns more calories than inactive tissue. These exercises should be done two or three times a week. Flexibility exercises are important because if a muscle isn’t stretched then overtime it will shorten and become less elastic. Therefore joint mobility will decrease and the likelihood of injuries to muscl...
The extra heat produced during metabolic exchange, raises the body temperature again affecting the enzymes and heat is then removed by sweating. If the body isn’t kept hydrated during exercise, dehydration will occur, causing the blood to become concentrated. When the blood becomes concentrated, the cells no longer have enough water to function.
Glycemic index is the measure of how quickly blood glucose rise after eating a particular kind of food. This is used by estimating the how much each gram of carbohydrate consumed raises a person’s glucose level. During intense exercise, the body uses glucose as energy source before it starts relying of fats. “Prolonged exercise can only be continued when there is an adequate amount of carbohydrate available to fuel muscle and the brain”(William,2004). This shows that the amount of carbohydrate/glucose that is found within the body’s tissue has a significant amount of influence to play on how effective the early hours of an exercise would be. Glycemic index helps one to know how effective the carbohydrate/glucose within the body is functioning during exercise.
Body composition is divided into two separate types of mass fat-free mass which is comprised of all of the body’s non-fat tissues and body fat. Fat-free mass includes bone, water, muscle, and tissues (Scott, 2013). Fats, bones, and muscle are the main components of the body which is formally known as mine the body’s state of being lean overall. A high percentage of body fat can have a negative effect on overall well-being of an individual (Scott, 2013). Large amount of fat stored in certain places on the body it can put that person at a higher risk for disease like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, hypertension, cancer, increase risk heart conditions, and/or stroke. This paper will go over the most effective method of reducing body composition that was performed by individual in a 10 week period and was evaluated through multiple methods.

In modern society, people take physical appearance quite seriously and will spend vast amount of time and money to transform their bodies. Some people rely surgeries to change themselves, while others spend lots of time in the gym and focus on their nutrition. Bodybuilding focuses on getting the largest muscles, while crossfit is about looking in shape, but not as big. Bodybuilders compete in competitions on how they look and crossfitters compete in physical competitions where they are to complete the workout as fast as possible. Nutrition is very important to crossfitters and bodybuilders. The way they train is also extremely important to them. Crossfit and bodybuilding use different methods to reach their goals.
When a person exercises the body uses either sugar or fatty acids as fuel to create energy. During the beginning of an exercise most of the sugar that is used as fuel comes from the bloodstream or the muscles. After about 15 minutes the fuel starts to come from the liver. When one exercises after 30 minutes the body receives energy from free fatty acids and glycogen gets stored resulting in a decrease in blood sugar levels. Glycogen is the sugar stored in the liver and muscles.
The idea of weight loss is still by being on a deficit which burning more than the energy that is taken in is the principle of weight loss. The idea of maintaining performance and muscle during a diet holds true, in terms of fueling the body and replenishing glycogen, favorably influence many hormones for muscle protein synthesis, and spiking insulin levels to preserve muscle tissue on high-carb/refeed days. Other theories say for low-carb days include, fat being the main energy system and which may improve the body’s ability to burn fat as fuel in long-term use and the manipulation of insulin sensitivity by targeting carbs around the workout; but more direct research is
However, by combining both aerobic and anaerobic exercises, weight loss and overall body composition can significantly increase. Aerobic exercise burns fat in the duration of exercise, although it has little effect afterwards. Intense anaerobic exercise increases the metabolism hours after exercise.
The three methods I am using to improve my cardio fitness are continuous, fartlek and interval. Interval training is running periods of high and lower intensity exercise, this doesn't’t only help extend cardiovascular endurance but it also burns off body fat. Fartlek training involves changing your running pace from a fast section to a slow jog. Fartlek training improves cardio fitness as each time you pick up your speed it puts
First, losing weight happens faster through a proper diet and not doing exercise. Good nutrition is more important than exercise because it helps to lose weight.
Burning calories is what makes us lose weight but it is important for your health to know what your calorie intake should be. Exercise burns the calories but if you neglect to put calories in, you will basically dissolve your muscle.
Exercise, or physical activity helps your body in many ways. For example, exercise helps control the weight of a human. It helps prevent people gaining unwanted weight and helps people who have unwanted weight to lose it. (mayoclinic.com) When we eat, we are taking in calories, and then when we exercise we burn off those calories taken in before. This helps us control the amount of calories by burning them off, otherwise our body would have stored them away as fat. (fitday.com)
