Have you ever watched a movie based on a book you've read? In Al Gore's speech he had both the written version and the video version. The reading version of Al Gore's speech was more effective than listening to his speech for several reasons. To begin, readers are paragraph 40 it states”when you announced this prize the deepest emotion I felt was when I saw ”This shows the readers could feel and know how he felt getting that prize. Another reason Al Gore's written speech was more efficient because he used some very hard vocabulary. While reading the speech, it was easier to understand. Unlike the video version which made it harder for readers to understand what those vocabulary meant. This is illustrated when Al Gore uses words like,”Paradox ,Irresolute”.Readers listening to his speech couldn't comprehend what those words meant. …show more content…
However, this is fallacious because reading the written speech it's always available to you so if the video version but it makes it very helpful to be able to go back reread and underline important information instead of trying to follow along to the video version and not being able to grasp what point he is trying to

Edwards and King both are very powerful speakers. They know how to capture their audience's attention merely through words. Both King and Edwards wanted people to change their ways, though not for the same reason. They both put all they had into their speeches making them very emotional speakers. With their words they painted pictures of what they wanted the people to think of as they listened.
1). This was an effective point because it immediately grabbed the reader’s attention. It also played on people’s natural, instinctive qualities to help those who are in need. It got readers to start thinking from the author’s point of view and could make them try to help him in any way they can. Another way he used an emotional response was by talking about “tax dollars” (par.17). This was well placed because many Americans think that they work too hard to have their hard-earned tax dollars go to waste. This also brought the readers closer to the author because they would not want that to happen, which is a typical fear of
However, it was this speech that inspired me to do more in depth research and learn the facts behind both sides.
William Wallace’s uses of techniques were successful as he was able to motivate the Scottish to fight the English. Atticus despite his techniques and use of spoken language he was unable to motivate the jury to find Tom Robinson innocent. However, I feel that Atticus Fitch’s speech was more emotive and motivational because he used his techniques carefully and with precision and he did the most he could but “Atticus Fitch won’t win he can’t win.”
George W. Bush’s “9/11 Address to the Nation” is a speech in which he talks about the catastrophic event on September eleventh, 2001. Two airplanes crash into the Twin Towers in New York City on this day, shocking the entire world. He addresses this speech to the people of America on the night of the disastrous event, to let the people of the United States know what is going on. This speech explains how the United States is a strong country, the motives behind the event, as well as to bring the United States together and stronger.
The day came when he was able to complete his lifetime research project. This day was described as the day “breathless horror and disgust filled [his] heart” (43).... ... middle of paper ... ...
I have always admired Al Gore, and after watching this film, I am disappointed even more now, that he never became a president. He is indeed very smart and very talented person, who truly desires to change things not only in the United States but around the world. Especially, after watching his film about global warming, he made me feel like he does really care about the world and people. He said: “what we take for granted might not be here for our children,” to me, perhaps, this is the most moral idea that came across the entire film. Not only his words, but his actions prove his true diligence about our present and future, and also about future generations. He was able to deliver an important message to me, which ought to alert me and
The only con I have is that the video could have been extended. I thought the speaker appeared to be intelligent while explaining the material, and he delivered the message very well to beginners. Lastly, the important aspects in delivering a good speech is engaging with your audience, breaking down the material for better understanding, and have
A speech is an expression or the ability to express thoughts and feelings through words and is directed towards an audience. The speeches “President Bush Outlines Iraq Threat” and “Speech to the Virginia Convention” are remarkably similar. By the use of pathos ethos, and loaded language, both speakers spoke to their audience with a passionate emotion.
While watching my video I did notice that I was able to understand and clearly know what the main point was. I spoke in a clear and a tone loud enough for everyone to hear. The speech was organized very well, so one idea or thought flowed to the next. I don’t think I need to change anything in regards to my central idea being clear. I was satisfied with that part of the speech.
Don’t worry about it King Lear! It happens to the best of us. Anyway, the concept that the power of the spoken word can be dependent on ones’ orientation within society is very compelling when talking to two kings. I definitely see how the power of the spoken word can be a significant tool to leaders, whose voices reach many people quickly and authoritatively.
Al Gore also notices that the ten hottest years on record have occurred in the last 14 years. He gives many examples such as the massive heat wave in Europe, the dramatic high temperature in India and a lot of cities in America. The temperature increases are occupied in the whole world, not only the land but also the oceans. When the oceans get warmer, that causes stronger storms. In the last couple years, there are a lot of big hurricanes. These catastrophic disasters did a lot of damages. They lead to more flooding, heavy rain. However, they also lead to more drought. The spring comes earlier and the fall comes later, the temperature keeps on going up. Many explorers found that the ice is less thick than before. Mr. Al Gore uses a lot of scientific and geographic knowledge to explain the cause and the consequence about the global warming. Ecological environment has been influenced and many rare animals are endangered. Many mosquitos change their habitats and expand their range owning to the change of temperature. Also, it causes a lot of vectors for infectious diseases. It is often said that human should save water and water is a necessary. However, most people never notice that many droughts were caused by global warming. The explanation in the movie is very convince and persuasive. When I was a senior high school student, our geography teacher told us global warming not only makes the temperature high, but also makes many potential dangers. As I was a child, there is a catastrophic disease named SARS, my mother told me that the disease was very serious and led a lot of people to die. If we have to go out, we should be well-armed. We need to use masks to keep us from the virus. From this case, SARS is a disaster and from this movie, global warming is also a
Subpoint A: Not long ago, a documentary film called “An Inconvenient truth” came out in 2006. This film raised international public awareness of climate change and reenergizing the environmental movement. A former U.S Vice president Al Gore campaigned to educate citizens about global warming through a simp...
All the memories he shared with his family. These thoughts dredged up feelings that stung his heart and brought tears to his eyes. He sat there on that very roof and wept.
