A lot of people may look at these two sports and think that they have nothing in common with each other besides the obvious fact that it requires a ball in order to play the sport. It is easy to point out many differences, but as I sit and think about it, there are many similarities. Even though they are different games they both have very long regular season. These regular seasons are long and can take a toll on your body. While these sports are the top 5 most popular sports, they both have really large fan bases that go into the millions. The players who play in these sports makes ton of money. These two professional sport leagues are the highest paid out of all other professional sports. The leagues make money off people buying tickets, backstage passes, concessions, team merchandise, sponsors and television contracts. Not one player is guaranteed to play on one team forever for their entire career. You sign contracts to play on a certain team for a certain number of years. When that contract is over, you can become a free agent and sign with any team you want, or the team you were previously on can trade you away to another team in the league with no remorse. It is a business; no hard feelings will be attached. Finally, you have chemistry and teamwork. Both sports require tremendous teamwork to be successful. Teamwork and chemistry is the name of the game. You cannot win anything in this league without our teammates. Chemistry and teamwork is required to win a championship at the end of the season. In conclusion, while many people may think the professional baseball and basketball league have no similarities whatsoever, I can find many things they have in common. First, they both have long regular seasons with baseball at 160 games, and basketball with 81 games. Secondly, they have large fan bases, fans keep the sport going.
