The story’s The Blessings, and The Mount of Monte Cristo In the story Monte Cristo, a man who is in jail hears very strange noises that he does not understand where they are coming from. The man’s name is Edmond Dantes. The noise continued for hours and he did not know what it was. After a while he figured it was the idea that haunts all prisoners, that idea is liberty. He said that it seemed to him that heaven had taken lengthy pity on him. He waited for about three hours and he heard the noise of something falling, then it was all silent. For the four days that this noise continued Edmond did not talk to anyone. He was in some sort of delusional state during that time. One day the jailor brought him breakfast. He rose up and started complaining to the jailer about everything. He told him about the bad food and how his dungeon was so cold. Out of the pity of the jailer’s heart, he brought Edmond some broth, and white bread. The jailor knew that Edmond was delirious and he put the food on the table and withdrew out of the room. …show more content…

Edmond thought that it might be another prisoner trying to obtain their freedom, but Edmond was too weak to think about it. Edmond then got up and saw the food sitting on the table and ate it. After he ate it he went to sleep. Edmond then woke up and the noise was gone. The story is written in third person all knowing. I know this because the person telling the story seems to know everything about Edmond but has no say and can’t do anything. I think the theme of this story is to not hold anything in, and if you let out how you are felling it will benefit
