Kate Myers March 4, 2016 English 6 Per. 4B Q3 Book Report: Compare and Contrast Essay These two leaders have similarities that had gotten them to their places in history books for doing terrible things. These similarities and differences are explained in the book of Adolf Hitler: Evil MasterMind of the Holocaust, authored by Linda Jacobs Altman, which explained the Adolf Hitler's appearance, background, and many more topics on why he did what he did and how he did it. The book Napoleon Bonaparte, by Elaine Landau, talks about his ancestry, background, and how he was a great man. These both were very great biographies and they explained their entire life. While both Adolf Hitler and Napoleon Bonaparte share several similarities, in many ways their lives have been different. One of their persuasive similarities is their charisma, which they both used in speeches to get people to follow them. Hitler was very charismatic when he did his speeches and got many people to follow him, and eventually became Chancellor of Germany, and led on to leading the Nazi invasion. He was very dramatic in his speeches and used the fears and prejudices already held by the German people. Napoleon was very charismatic in his speeches also, because he was very charismatic and motivational while …show more content…
he spoke, making more people follow him, and won the trust of the people by declaring that he represented the revolution and had a problem with the tyrants who oppressed them. They both had similar ways of getting people to trust them but used different methods on how to persuade the people. Another interesting similarity was that they were both foreigners who became powerful enough to rule another nation.
Hitler was a foreigner before he was appointed Chancellor of Germany, since he was originally Austrian. Hitler wanted to become a German citizen because he needed to be a German citizen to run for Chancellor. He enlisted in the German army, because it was the fastest way to become a German citizen. Napoleon was a foreigner when he ruled France, even though he was originally Corsican, however, Corsica was put under French rule one year before his birth, which qualified him to be a French citizen. It is extremely interesting how they became so powerful they could rule a different
country. A cruel difference that they have between them is that their motivations were varied. One of Hitler's motivations for being filled with hatred was that he had an abusive father. The father would whip Hitler and his brother more than 32 times a day, he instilled the same fear in throughout the world. One of Napoleon's motivations for conquering France was that he was poor as a child and often did not have enough money to buy new clothes or military school supplies, because of this he wanted to become Emperor and wanted to bring back money to his family. While Hitler was abused as a child, and Napoleon wanted to bring back money to his family, they both ended up conquering a continent.

While studying George Washington and Napoleon I realized that they had some similarities between them even though they were very different men. Some of the similarities that I found were that they were both military generals that had the same military conduct. They both looked for military glory for social and political advancement. Some of the differences i found were there leadership skills George Washington thought more about the people and what they would need and Napoleon thought about his self and what he wanted. This paper will be talking about George Washington and Napoleon similarities and differences.

Napoleon Bonaparte was an interesting ruler in that he was compromised of attributes of both a tyrant and a hero. Napoleon had a strong following throughout his reign and even during his two exiles. He was the emperor of France between 1799 and 1815, following the fall of the Directory. Despite the efforts of the French Revolution to rid the country of an autocratic ruler, Bonaparte came to power as Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte I in 1804. He claimed that he preserved the goals of the Revolution, which can be easily argued as his rule became more dictatorial as it progressed. Despite his departure from some of the gains of the Revolution, he overall was a hero for the French people. Through his military ventures, political changes and social reform, Napoleon proved himself as a hero. This is not to say that there were aspects of his reign that were tyrannical, but he was overall beneficial for France.
