Have you ever been given rules, but you don’t follow them? Well, in the stories “Being Prey” and “A Sound of Thunder” the main characters do that. They are curious or scared and break the rule, they were given to keep them safe. They don’t know what to do so they just go for it. The main characters deal with dangerous conflicts and different settings. They realize they should have listened at the end of the stories. The setting for the both of the stories is very different from the others. The setting for the stories are similar because there is a predator in the setting. The setting for “A Sound of Thunder” is in the future 2055, then they go in the past to a prehistoric jungle. The setting for “Being Prey” is Australia in a swamp in present …show more content…
But then different things happen to each of them. Neither of them listened to their warning. But Eckels got in a lot of trouble, and Plumwood was attacked. Eckels ran off without thinking because he was scared and was almost left behind in the past. Meanwhile Plumwood had managed to escape and was rescued, but suffered from severe bites and cuts on her. They both did something they shouldn’t have which led them to their regret. The main characters are a little different in both of the stories. Eckels was frightened and did not know what to do and freaked out really easily. Nevertheless Plumwood stayed calm and tried not to freak out too much. Because of what Eckels did, he was almost left behind. Plumwood had a messed up leg but did not lose it. Consequently, they both almost lost something from their actions, but they made it through. In conclusion, they should have listened to their warning, because usually they are right. The theme is the lesson they had learned, and that was they should have listened to their warning. So because of not listening they were attacked and killed. They regret it and wish they never did what they did. They knew they messed up at the end because they say they are sorry and blame it on themselves. They almost lost something because of what they had done. So, when you don’t listen bad things could happen to you, just like bad things happened to the main characters in
Here are the flashbacks and foreshadowing. One of the similarities is they both had to do with animals and their parents telling them something. The other is that they have flashbacks of animals. Those are the similarities with flashbacks and foreshadowing.
In conclusion, the story describes that life changes, and nothing stays the same throughout it. It is in the hands of the people to decide that how they want their life to be. They can make it as beautiful as they want to and they can also make it worse than it has ever been
Both science fiction stories Nethergrave and A Sound of Thunder were amazing stories. Although I preferred A Sound of Thunder over the Nethergrave. A Sound of Thunder had more excitement it also relates to life a little more. A sound of thunder tells us how small mistakes spiral into huge ball kind of like a snowball effect and can turn into a disaster. Which is true in situations you have to think before doing? Nethergrave on the other hand was slow and didn’t relate to the real world as much as A Sound Of Thunder. It didn’t keep me wanting to read more or predicting, what will happen next? A sound of thunder was written by Ray Bradbury originally published 1952. Nethergrave was written by Gloria Skurzynski. These two stories go way back
Another similarity in the setting is that both short stories take place in a war setting, the Vietnam war and the Ireland war. The characters in the two short stories have pretty equal similarities and differences. One of the big differences between the two characters is that one is a republican sniper and the other is a soldier. Another one of the differences between the two short stories is that the soldier in Ambush is scared and nervous about killing but the sniper in The Sniper is excited. “ He had been too excited to eat.”
I found in the three short stories that I read “The Foghorn”, “Sound of Thunder” and “All in a Summer Day” had three common “similarities”. First each of the stories I read had a sense of fear. In the sound of thunder story Eckles saw the tyrannosaurs and he experienced fear because he was so scared of the dinosaur. Also in the fog horn the characters turned the fog horn off and the monster had thought it was its friend and was being betrayed and attacked which scared the characters because they thought it would kill them. And in the last story I read all in a summer day the little girl was scared that the sun might not come and it would continue to rain for the next seven years. Next the stories each had a life lesson that helps to give us advice in the future. First in sound of thunder the theme was don’t mess with time and everything you do affects your future because
A message that really explains the movie in a sentence is every human is not perfect and each human has their own personal struggles that they will try to overcome. Boobie Miles thought he was perfect and he actually put a curse on himself and got injured right at the beginning. The primary theme in the film is the Underdogs don’t always win. We thought because they were underdogs they were going to win but they ended up losing. They still did put up a great fight. Some other themes are the impact of adults’ hopes and goals lived vicariously through their children. The most important theme of the novel involves the impact of adults’ hopes and goals lived vicariously through their children. The people of Odessa place an unmistaken spell on the shoulders of their sons to be champions every year so that the adults can take the triumph as their own. The result is that their children can never leave their triumphs and defeats of that short time behind. It follows them no matter what they make of their lives, and it is unfair that they must do so. The last important theme is that of misplaced priorities. The people of Odessa wouldn’t accept the fact that their obsession with football was impacting on the educational success of their children. Their need to have a winning season affected class time, homework, tests, and even whether school
The two very different characters eventually get caught and go through a series of investigations to reveal their true feelings behind the tragedy. The crime leaves the whole town in grief and Dick and Perry are hanged because of their actions. Despite these two novels being very different, the relationships in both books fuels the tragedy that occurs, and contrasting personalities makes them very dependent on each other.
The setting and plot in both of the stories And Then There Were None and The Most Dangerous Game are very similar to each other. The setting
The mother realizes then that the young boys, the future "Generals" who will soon live as men do "playing war", are far from innocent. Her rite of passage is a complete and sad transition from the mother of a child that she has some control over to the parent of an independent man, who will make his own choices and fight his own battles.
Some similarities are revolve around the animals playing a big part in how the earth was formed and discovered. The animals in both stories were present first according to the stories.
What does the author want readers to learn from this story? How does it help you understand this message?
conflict. Both the conflicts within these stories are long lasting, and have been going on for
Since these two stories are very different there is only on similarity for text structure, they both have pictures. Each picture goes along with the text that it is by. One thing both authors did very well at was stating facts. Both authors stated the facts differently, but each fact is described with detail. Both authors
The second main conflict in this book is when Wendy decides to go on a walk and then gets attacked by two trackers who try to kidnap Wendy and take her hostage, but Finn comes to the rescue and saves Wendy but the tells Wendy that she is not safe her and has to be alert because she is a Trylle.
The first topic I'm going to discuss is the characters. In The Story of an Hour the main character is Mrs.Mallard. In the beginning of the story we lezarn that she is afflicted with heart trouble. In The Interlopers the main character is Ulrich von Gradwits. The name to me sounds German or Romanian. I don't think U&lrich is married. The story also doesn'nt mention if he has any siblings but does make hints that he has a family. Maybe not children but a mother and father or grand mother and grand father. Where in The Story of an Hour it mentions Mrs.Mallards sister Joesphine and her newly diciest husband. You can clearly foresee her inside her house with her mother and father and her husband and sister eating an home made meal. Where as in The Interlopers you can't see Ulrich doing anything nut hunting or keeping constantly busy. Two very different characters.
