Selfless service, this is one of the first phrases that come into my mind when I think of community service. Community service is to help out in your town or nonprofit organizations without being paid. It short, it is giving back to the community. It holds many importances. For an example, it helps build character. Also, colleges use it to pick out desirable students. The community does many things to make the environment safe for us to go to school, and play, so it is our way of repaying it to help create a much better environment. I performed this service for BAPS Charities. It is a non-profit organization that helps the community in many ways. It hosts annual health fairs, blood drives, walkathons, various other events and projects. I helped out with many things while volunteering. During the blood drive, I stuck name tags on vials full of blood. After matching the blood with the right name, I put them in special medical bags along with their health reports. The next week for the health fair, I was put in flow. I was required to give everyone a ticket and call out numbers. This was to create a proper line, and a fair wait for the EKG and Cardiac doctors. After sometime, I went into one of the EKG rooms to translate. But since there wasn't much to translate, I ended up helping the doctor clip the wires onto the patches stuck to the patients. I enjoyed doing this a lot. One of the reasons for this is because a lot of my friends had also volunteered for it. I also learned new skills and things to expect if I were to go into the medical field. It also kept me busy. Instead of being bored at home, it allowed me to do something productive and helpful to the community. I would definitely do it
