Community Interview
To begin my work let me introduce the interviewee. He is Mr. Kapera Para. A Ugandan by nationality living in Kakuma refugee camp. He is a gentle man of 31 years old. Kapera do not know English well and I do not know Kiswahili well so we invited a translator from Karamojong a tribe in Uganda who is good in both English and Kiswahili. Having a translator in an interview takes much time because he or she has to listen from both the interviewer and interviewee and translates. An interviewer has to employ extra effort in order to be able to understand the language before it is jotted down to the compilation files. I was not wise enough in translation but at least I got closure to the data.
The most difficult part of languages is the meaning behind each. Some of the languages has different ascents and slangs, needs only an experienced translator to translate it. One of the common things I know of translation is to always be in position to provide a refreshment, this will prevent the interviewee from getting tired and sleepy and hence the proper contacts can be retained.
My communication is always different depending on the gender in which I address at a particular time. The camp in which I live in has got three types of genders, the male, female and haemoprodite. When I talk to female I use the soft and low tone because female gender are always prone to quarrel and judgmental. This policy has earned me a remarkable relationship and understanding of female gender. Male gender is neutral and so are friendly to all environment. Haemoprodite are not many In my society and am still to meet any. Am now planning of the proper conduct to use whenever I meet any. I also use to meet guy who claim to be female. Strong male with bear claiming seriously to be female, this is actually strange
