What makes one life greater than the other? Must I be president of the United States of America, the King of England, a police officer, a mom or dad, or an athlete like Lebron James? Indeed, all these people have an important job to do. One is not greater than the other -each and every one of these people have a special place in this world given to them. So what is my place in this world? To be very honest I have a place but I just don’t know where it is and I’m discovering my place in this world little by little, day by day, and so forth. For me to know my place in this world I have to look at the past, the present and the future to determine where I see myself placed. One thing I know for sure is I was made for a reason and I have a unique purpose in …show more content…
I have all the power in my hands to rise up and dictate my future. Being a freshman in college it is a trial and error process. I am trying out new things and seeing what I like. Events during my senior year and working during the summer have helped steer me in another direction. During my senior year I planned and figured out all the prices for a fundraiser. I lead that fundraiser and it was a big success it was a bigger turn out than I expected and people bought more T-shirts than I expected. With doing the fundraiser it took leadership to even execute the whole plan and give everyone their task and make sure things got handled. Also doing the fundraiser gave me an idea that I want my future to do with business. I just took time and went to different events that had to do with business which gave me idea to what I want to do. Now that I’m at St. John’s University, I’m here to further that interest in business and finance. Now my place in this world is to be a student and figure everything out day by day and take risk, so I can figure out what I want to do and what I truly
As I reflect on my college life, I wonder about the choices I have made that have led me to where I am today and that will guide me into shaping who I long to become. The things I have had to sacrifice, the support and experiences I have had with family, friends, strangers and work colleagues. I don’t know what I will be doing three months or thirty years from now but I do know that I want to have new experiences. When I graduated from high school, I knew I didn’t want to be that person that moved back to the same town and stayed there for the rest of my life. I even contemplate leaving the United States in my adult life. Who really knows, maybe those cards are still in the deck. For now, I know my immediate goals include focusing on completing my college education the best I can, and moving away from my comfort zone, broadening my horizons and taken risks.
My most fulfilling leadership experience would have to be starting the 4-H Medical Careers Spin Club. I started the club three years ago, to allow teens to have opportunities to experience the medical field before they spend money on a career they may end up not liking. The Club has been able to tour medical schools, hospitals, cancer centers, and many other facilities. I was instrumental in getting three teens in the club to apply and get accepted to Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Physician Pipeline Preparatory Program I am involved in. Countless people in the medical field kept wanting to help me gain medical opportunities, but HR departments and HIPAA rules kept getting in the way. Through this experience, I learned that
This was one of the main aspects that brought me to this crossroad that I am at now and that I faced at the beginning of my college career. When I decided to go to college I wanted to be a doctor, so that is how I started out. Looking at the challenges ahead of me on that path I did some research and decided to change paths and pursue a career in Health Services. In health services I can still help people the way I like and it also fits into my plan for myself. With what makes me myself I look at the crossroad I am at now and all I think to do is to keep moving forward and straight. Looking back is a different me and going left or right provides many new challenges, so forward is my only option. Even though I will run into many other crossroads and challenges on my current path, I feel the way I am put together I can overcome anything that comes my
The best leadership accomplishment that demonstrates my potential to make significant contributions to the campus community and broader society is cheerleading. Cheerleading has made a huge impact on my life and has created many opportunities for me. It has paved the way for my high school career. Cheerleading provided me with opportunities to lead, volunteer, perform and show the athletic ability of our squad.
As a student in her sophomore year, I am still learning about what I can do and what I want to do. Although I am young, my mother always told me that it is never too early to start thinking about the future, which is why it is an honor to be able to apply for the membership of being part of National Honor Society. I have always loved challenges no matter what the result because nothing is equal to the experience of trying. I take the things I have learned from my past experiences and use them as a guide to help me in the future. I haven't ever once stopped to give up if I encountered an obstacle, but rather embraced it and thought of ways to overcome them.
It's unbelievable how each year, since the beginning of high school, my perfectly laid plans for myself have unavoidably deteriorated. When I entered my freshman year, I had aspirations of being a doctor (something I had wanted to be since I was a child). Now, here I am entering my senior year in high school without any idea of what I want to do. Now seems to be the time to start taking life seriously and making responsible, educated choices.
A relevant leadership role that I have had in the past several years was, that last spring I helped out with the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity’s Fratagonia event. This event is a charity that donates all proceeds to the ALS Foundation. This was a planned event that was supposed to play out very smoothly, until it didn’t. I was put in to a position, even though it was not my event, to step up and help lead this event towards a successful out come. First, the food was not delivered on time and lunch had to be pushed back. I had two friends drive over to the restaurant that we had ordered from and have them pick it up and not wait for delivery. Next, one of the big item we had booked for this event was a dunk tank. Unfortunately, no one was
A major life event that started me to pursue an education in nursing was my time in basic training. The most life changing event during my induction into the army at ft. Jackson before starting basic training was accepting Christ as my personal lord and savior. When I decided to go into the Army 4 years out of high school I was a student firefighter E.M.T. working towards my paramedic, incidents at the Dept. I worked at both before and after some traumatic emergency responses actually turned me away from practicing any sort of medicine and causing me to seek the military for a new career or to pay for me to go back to school for another career if the military wasn’t my thing. During Basic training as stated above I was already a licensed E.M.T.

Until this past spring I hadn't thought much about what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go for college. One day in the spring the junior class had a meeting in the auditorium about taking our ACT test and college plans. After that meeting I realized I needed a change, getting into college wasn't going to be a breeze, kind of how I had treated high school. Although I always considered myself to be fairly smart, I never had put much effort into school, but after seeing the facts and requirements to get into schools, and especially after hearing Ms. Rice saying "In today's world, the way to a successful future, is choosing college as your future", I knew I had to make an adjustment for the better so that college could be my future.
On stage, I anticipated third place, but was once again stunned when I placed second. This whole experience was life changing. Working for the National FFA Convention, I developed a work ethic to stick to something, and to do my best, even if it seems impossible. I also gained communication skills, and the ability to work outside my comfort zone. Even now it is hard for me to interact with others, but this accomplishment taught me that I can do hard things and I can communicate effectively. I learned how to perform research and express my findings. This experience was also very valuable for it directed me to my career path. It opened up doors as to my abilities, and gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams without fear. It taught me that failures happen, but enduring effort will turn failure into success. In my interviews, I learned that complete honesty is far better than false cover-ups. I became the person I am now because I was blessed with the experience. This project for some may be seen as a great award, but for me it's an invaluable occurrence which had more life skills and experience than a piece of paper can ever
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.

People can benefit from there family, knowing who they are, what characteristics they have, there environment they live in. this is also why it is so important to have a better understanding of themselves and their relationships. I can benefit myself through the disciplines of ritual, impotent, and discipline. I feel that I am connected to these and have a very close understanding of the three. There are many times where I have found myself impotent and needed guidance through my struggle. My life is structured around discipline. I have had to learn from so many mistakes and life lessons that have shaped me to be who I am now. I have many rituals and know a lot of people who are of a different faith and skin color. They might give off as being mean or self-reserved but their faith is why they come off that way.
