Understanding why you are moved to reduce uncertainty helps you pinpoint your intentions for an encounter. Focusing on a job interview, it may only be a one time meeting. It should be handled with the anticipation that it will be the first of many encounters. You will want to leave a good impression however, doing that can make you question each and every decision. Uncertainty is broken down into two types, Behavioral and cognitive. Behavioral uncertainty is when you question if actions are appropriate for the current situation you are in. Cognitive uncertainty is doubting the behaviors you see and being unsure of how to react in the current situation.(——————) It is easier to reduce the uncertainty when dealing with behavioral situations due …show more content…
Wearing the wrong outfit and being embarrassing would definitely not be a great way to start an impression. When looking at cognitive uncertainty an example would be if you were answering a question and the persons replies to you “is that a good answer?” You wonder what their intentions were for this. This makes you second guess yourself and then this leads to thinking into the next questions even more. Causing to loose focus and instead of answering questions in the interview you spend time thinking about what has already happened. Solving and reducing uncertainty can be extremely helpful in reducing stress and building confidence. In an interview you want to be as prepared as possible and this includes research and practice before hand. Looking up the company and what they stand for along with some background and recent news will be important. During the interview you need to know who you are talking to and what type of environment you are looking to be a part …show more content…
Dispositional factors which are personal and unique to the individual and change little over time. Additional, there are situational factors that are based on the outside world and events that are uncontrollable. It is impotent to remember that some individuals behaviors are not based on your actions. If the interviewer is upset when you walk it might be because they had a rough morning or maybe they have been doing tedious interviews all day. When scheduling it is best to make it for the first thing in the morning so that you can try to limit the number of situational factors the interview may encounter throughout their
Interview Techniques: First start with informal and see what I can get out of them by just simply asking questions. When and if I get nowhere or become feeling like I am being lied to or
The video states that two factors affect personality: dispositional and situational. Dispositional factors are those that are a part of us and internal, such as genetics, attitude, and personality. Situational factors are those that come from the environment, such as sensory stimulation, rewards, and punishments. Emanuel Donchin studies the effects of situational factors on the brain's activity. Donchin showed a list of names to various individuals and recorded their brain signals.
Certainty Vs. Doubt: Does certainty actually provide security, or does it set one for failure? Does doubt cause negativity or does it prepare one for the future? The idea of whether certainty or doubt causes the fulfillment of dreams, goals and the future as questioned by many. Certainty creates security and assurance, but is anything certain?
The relationship between certainty and doubt has been a heavily debated topic throughout history and especially in the mid-1800s. For most people, having some doubt on one’s opinions is much more beneficial than having absolute certainty because doubt allows one to review his potential choice and leaves room for him to make improvements on his choice. Someone who lives with absolute certainty cannot weigh the pros and cons because he has the confidence that what he believes is the right decision for everyone; however, there are situations in one’s life where absolute certainty is necessary, such as in team sports. With the exception of competitions, however, it is more important for one to have doubt in his or her life because doubt allows
Uncertainty in organizations is a key element to be dealt with in the areas of technology, rules and rituals (Hofstede, 1980). The notion of uncertainty is frequently connected to the perception of environment as the ‘environment is taken to include everything not under direct control of the organization as a source of uncertainty for which the organization tries to compensate’ (Hofstede, 1980: 155). The organization deals with uncertainty in the way in which uncertainties are observed inside the business. According to Torrington, uncertainty avoidance is the degree to which the future is always unknown (1994). Some cultures socialize their participants to accept this idea and take risks. Whereas members of other cultures have been socialized to be made worried or threatened by this and therefore, search for reparation through the ‘security of law, religion or technology’. (Torrington, 1994:
The client being observed is a sophomore at UNH named Mike. Since attending UNH, Mike has displayed symptoms of social phobia. These symptoms include feeling nervous being around large groups of people and having panic attack like episodes. As well as this, he also often confines himself to his room, rarely speaks in class, and does not have very many friends. Though this is the case in college, Mike has not always displayed these symptoms. He suffered a lot of ridicule as a child because of a rare hormonal disorder. This ridicule that he faced adversely affects his current condition. However in high school, this ridicule stopped, and he was able to make close friends and found what he loved to do. Though Mike is nervous about attending therapy, he feels that something needs to be done in order for him to change.
In beginning his lengthy phenomenology for identifying the pathway in which Geist will realize itself as Absolute Knowledge, Hegel begins at what many considered the most basic source of all epistemological claims: sensual apprehension or Sense-Certainty. Though the skeptical tradition took this realm as a jumping-off point for making defensible epistemological claims, Hegel sees in the sensual a type of knowledge so general and abstract as to be entirely vacuous. Focusing on the principle that anything known in the Scientific sense must be communicable, through language or its approximations, Hegel shows that whatever the sensual purports to know is inherently incommunicable and therefore cannot represent true knowledge.
Product uncertainty is relevant with what we see often in medicine today; for example an individual can be diagnosed with cancer a team needs to consider the appropriate treatment for this individual. Another example is when a patient needs a organ transplant many time to the progression of the individuals
The theory of Cognitive Dissonance states that when individuals are presented with information that implies we act in a way that contradicts our moral standards, we experience discomfort (Aronson, Wilson, and Akert, 1998, P. 191). This is considered Cognitive Dissonance,

The members of this society are portrayed to attempt to cope with anxiety by minimizing uncertainty. People in cultures with high uncertainty avoidance tend to be more emotional as they try to minimize the occurrence of unknown and unusual circumstances by implementing rules and planning. However, in low uncertainty avoidance cultures, individuals accept and feel comfortable in unstructured situations. They are more pragmatic and tolerant of change. In a high uncertainty avoidance society, the employees are restricted under rules and regulations and a structured working environment. However, in low uncertainty avoidance, the employees accept uncertainty and adapt more quickly to abrupt changes. They will be more able to make wise decisions and improve efficiency of
Sledge, Miles, and Coppage (2008) explain uncertainty avoidance as “the degree of risk aversion” (1670). In a country with high uncertainty avoidance there may be more policies and procedures in place. In a culture with low uncertainty avoidance companies could empower employees to develop new ideas.
Therefore, being nervous is normal, but in order to have a good interview, the candidate must practice. The candidate could ask someone from his or her network to conduct an interview, but a person who has experience is preferable. Also, recording the interview will help to catch any possible mistakes, body language, tone
There is no one way to learn! Throughout life is faced with many different learning experiences. Some of these experiences have made a better impact than others on different people. At one time in everyone’s life one has seen or have been the child who will attempt to read a single page from a book and become so frustrated and disorientated because she or he does not comprehended nor can one retell what one has just read. This was me, the child who struggled and just did not understand what I was reading. My teachers would present reading material and I would have to read it countless times and sometimes still I did not understand what the reading passage was about. However, with time I started to develop step by step process to help me better understand what I was reading, and finally it all came together. One way to help things to come together for a person is through the Cognitive Theory. The Cognitive Theory presents different theories for the way that one can be taught in different subjects, the different types of learners, and advantages of understanding the process in which one can go through to learn better.
