My first ST goal is starting on my Associate Clinical Social Work (ASW) package at the beginning of May 2017. In order for me to obtain my LCSW, I’ll need to apply for my ASW number. My ASW number will allow me to collect clinical supervision hours in order to meet the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) criteria. Once I apply for my ASW number, I will have to study for the Law and Ethics exam. This is a new requirement from the BBS, as of this year, and I must complete and pass the exam before the year is over. This is a part one of two tests that must be completed in order to receive an LCSW credential. This will give me enough time to complete my resume, obtain my ASW number, and come back from my mini vacations. I gave myself permission to take a small break and not job hunt immediately after I graduate because I need time to transition. I call this, self-care. In order for me to be an effective, and dependable social worker, I need to learn about doing self-care. Otherwise I’ll burnout and hurt nobody but myself. Furthermore, the resources that I’ll need in order for me to start applying for jobs is to create an online profile with the agencies that I’m interested in working for. In order for me to start my personal vision proposal, I need to apply for jobs that will provide me with clinical supervision towards my LCSW hours, exposure in the clinical setting, and working with adults or the elderly. At my current internship, I already made connections with people who will hopefully consider me for a position. However, I do not want to solely rely on my current internship for a job opportunity if there are no available positions after I graduate. Nonetheless, those connections have already agreed for me to use them as a reference for my resume. According to Gerard (2011), getting students to network can be one of the biggest challenges, but it will potentially lead to that first job. My identified strength of being likeable has helped my to build these connections and will also strengthen over time as more people get to know
