I enjoyed this week’s review of online exhibits because it provided examples of project 2. I am not computer savvy and any artistic flare my daughters possess came from their mother. Being able to review the exhibits was very helpful in picturing the process required using the Omeka.net system. Of the available resources, the Circle of Dance exhibit is formatted in a pattern that I am ultimately attempting to create. Specifically the ability to click on maps, media, and discussion fits my museum’s organizational needs. The mission statement of the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) states that the museum is committed to advancing knowledge and understanding of the Native cultures of the Western Hemisphere—past, present, and future—through partnership with Native people and others. The museum works to support the continuance of culture, traditional values, and transitions in contemporary Native life. REF. The Circle of Dance meets the mission obligation in several aspects. The exhibit offers education to the masses, preservation of Native Indian culture, and research ideas into the origins of native dance. Proper consent for use of the photographs and due diligence in referencing the displayed information is standard for any display. This exhibit offers examples from many cultures and religious backgrounds. One area that could be of ethical concern is the interpretation by the local cultures of origin for each of the dances listed. The section that list the background and location of the author is very informative and perhaps offers some assurances to the local inhabitants that proper representation of their ceremonies is being
