The location where my job shadow took place was at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. The position I examined was the Video/Broadcast person, who also happens to be my dad. The Video/Broadcast person is responsible for filming church service each Sunday and is also in charge of streaming the church services live to Facebook. The video/ Broadcast person begins setting up all of equipment that they will be using. The setup process consists of setting up power supply, 2 cameras, and any necessary cords/wires that will be needed during the filming process. The service began with a time of invocation through prayer, responsive reading and song that evoked the presence of God. An oil fueled candle and tray that contained the communion bread and grape juice were then placed at the center of a table. The invocation brought attention to the reality that we who were in attendance were not merely gathered as individuals. We were part of a community, the larger body of Christians from which we came. Remarks were made that emphasized the significance of the event and the paradox in sharing the...
Malcolm Pointon was born in 1940. He was a famous pianist, a lecturer and a husband to Barbara Pointon, his wife of more than 20 years. In 1991, he was diagnosed with the Alzheimer’s disease and battled it for 16 years before dying in February 2007. His wife, Barbara, explained that the first clue were his piano skills getting worse, as “he started making mistakes in his once-perfect piano playing”. After getting diagnosed, Barbara decided to allow Paul Watson to document the development of Malcolm’s disease, which continued for 11 years until he died.
Having this song as an opening set the tone of the entire performance, letting the audience know that the performance would consist of religious themes. The repeated chant of the word “Hallelujah” largely confirmed these themes. This song majorly consists of many different performers singing solo lines, with the entirety of the concert responding to these lines.

The establishing shot shows the setting in the church, the two main characters, and what is going on. The scene even in a low angle shot giving the viewer a view of characters from below to seem like one is seated watching them.
Unlike many Hollywood films, The Apostle’s complex plot is captured with simple videography. This stylistic choice creates a more authentic, tangible representation of the setting that is elemental to both the film and Sonny’s character. The film also utilizes a “documentary-like evocation of the South” through its combined use of actors and non-actors for the worship scenes (Feaster). Duvall’s choice to film relatively long worship scenes (as compared to shorter worship scenes in comparable Hollywood films) and to zoom in on the faces of congregation members during these services also creates a more intimate connection to Pentecostalism. With these shots and authentic representations of Pentecostal worship, viewers absorb every detail of the
