Ever since I graduated from high school I have actively been searching for ways to interact and encourage students from all backgrounds, both similar to me and much different. I have had two internships with churches in Oklahoma City that has allowed me to use my abilities to reach, connect with, and form relationships with students. Through all this experience I have only found a greater love and desire to reach young people and encourage them in their lives and help them be the best that they can be. After completing these internships, I was offered a job to be a Youth Director at Summit Church in Oklahoma City. Since accepting this job, I have been able plan and direct a youth ministry all on my own. It has taught me how to manage a budget, plan events in advance, and recruit and orchestrate good, impactful leaders to come alongside me and help reach students and encourage them in their lives and their faith. I have been able to use and polish my skills to communicate and minister to parents and students
For this interview paper I wasn't sure who I was going to interview at first. I was thinking of all of the religious places of worship in my home town of Sheboygan, but I wanted to interview someone I knew. So I decided to interview my roommate. I've known him since sixth grade, and he is a Lutheran. I was raised a Catholic and I had a lot of friends who were Lutheran. When I was a kid I really didn't think any differently about it, but now for this paper I get to interview a friend and see what his religion is all about and what he thinks.
Through serving in various leadership roles, I reignited my passion for mentoring and fostering lasting relationships. Particularly as a science teaching assistant, I became a leader and counselor by teaching classes, utilizing metaphors to explain complex science, and encouraging others by relating to their struggles. Also, I discovered the importance of truly being in the moment by being receptive to others’ unvoiced problems. Most notably, this position taught me that we can all learn something new from each other as I experienced before with Abby. All these benefits incited me to create a mentorship program on my college campus that pairs accomplished seniors with younger students. As someone who entered college feeling unprepared, I felt it beneficial for others in similar situations to have a role model whom they can trust for encouragement and
“Youth Ministry” in a better way. Having little or no experience in youth ministry, I was not really sure where to start. I believe my start was chosen for me by a higher calling (God) do I believe I pick the right book to start reading or did the right book pick me? The book picked me and here is why.
I spent every spring and summer in middle school doing mission work and community service. I loved the opportunity that it gave me to build relationships and share my beliefs with people I didn’t know. Little did I know that this would pave the way for a life-changing experience that I would encounter one day. Each spring my church would host a missionary event called “The Ignite Project.” I felt an urge to join the group, recognizing that it was a calling to profess my faith in Jesus. These mission trips helped me to go out
I was very surprised at a few facets as I ventured my way through these job descriptions. One of the first things I noticed is how few full time positions there were on this list. I had always figured a church position would be a full time job because that is the kind of church I grew up in. However, to see that a worship pastor’s position was only a 10 hour a week commitment was quite surprising, but that makes sense in a smaller church. Thus, it has caused me to think about new opportunities for other part time work outside of the church. I suppose I’ve never really thought of a back up plan because I was so sure I would be in a full time pastor position.
What is Christianity and why has it been able to develop into a continuously growing and evolving religion?
The following essay will evaluate the importance of the journey that takes place from Systematic to Practical theology; this view will be explored through Ronelle Sonnenberg’s research done regarding ‘being together’ in a youth setting. This essay will first build on the basis of Practical Theology; furthermore addressing the importance of the community aspect within a youth setting; this will lead to the process that takes place between a Systematic stance, leading to a Practical theological stance.
It may seem a little bit strange, but my favorite place in town in none other than this beautiful Evangelic Church. However, it wasn’t always so.
When it comes to religious beliefs, people have opinions that can be very conservative, to people who have extremist opinions. It is nearly impossible to say whose opinions are correct, but one thing that can be found in their opinions is a middle ground. From religion to religion, people tend to have some degree of similarities in their beliefs or practices. I saw something parallel to this during my interviews. I interviewed four very different people, from different generations, and different religions, yet I found similarities within many of their answers.
A philosophy of Christian education encompasses many aspects that overlap areas of a child 's life that could not be nurtured and molded in a public school setting. Therefore, the Christian philosophy of education must include so much more. The Bible must be used as the basis for the education of children. A child should be taught in a way that will best benefit the individual that God created. He should be trained in his own way, the way he learns best. In order to do that, teachers must be able to assess their students in a manner that will reveal the learning styles that best fit each child. By doing this, the best possible education can be given to each student. Proverbs 22:6 states, "Train up a child in the way he should go..." The ways
For my observation trip, I decided to visit St. Ignatius Church in Oregon, Ohio. I visited a mass at 11:30 on Sunday November 19. I decided to visit a catholic church because my family has no religious background whatsoever, and I decided that I could go with one of my good friends that way if I need to ask questions, she was there to answer them for me.
Being the youth leader and the church admin has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of people and manage them equally, also it involves me listening to them and given them confidence in whatever they are going through at the time, also
Religion takes the forefront in many current crises, and in order to understand the role of religion you must first understand the history of it then look at the effects of which it has in a modern environment; this is something I am looking forward to delving into at university. As an agnostic applying for theology I believe this leaves me fully open to ideas, and currently I feel that I can argue either for or against the idea of God depending on what presents the strongest argument. My enthusiasm for Religious Studies was enhanced greatly at GCSE where the ethical debates proved to me that I can argue and back up my point successfully, whilst still listening to the variety of opinions put across by others. It is through Religious Studies that I have learnt that no opinion should ever be regarded to be wrong so long as it is backed up; it is with this mind-set that I will enter university and hopefully this will allow me to provide well rounded essays that take every account into consideration. At AS-level I found the rigorous essays were something that I enjoyed, I predominantly liked having to search for the different scholars and philosophers and then analyse the different perspectives to come to the strongest conclusion possible.
Churches have dominated the religious and social landscape for centuries. From the absolute power of the papacy in Medieval Times, the conflicts of the Protestant Reformation, and even our religious divides today. Today the power of the church is unraveling in their hands. The once powerful hand is now merely symbolic. The Information Age has led to a massive freeflow of information unprecedented in the church’s history.
A pastor has a great responsibility to minister the Word of God and to be a shepherd to his people. The pastor must be committed to biblical truths when he engages the work of the ministry. Some of these truths include: The Bible is the infallible Word of God, his preaching must be from the Word of God, and he must do proper exegesis to get to the authorial intent and proclaim that to his congregation.
