customer violently shakes a cereal box and voices his anger with a light rainfall in the direction of the manager. The cashier, one of Pierrefonds’s well-known employees, Christyne Chartrand, stands at a distance and adjusts her glasses waiting for peace to be restored in this chaotic situation. As frustrating as these types of confrontations might be, Christyne perseveres through it all and continues on with her day.
The word perseverance has become a keyword in Christyne’s vocabulary. No matter the obstacle placed before her, Christyne demonstrates a calm and collective approach every time. In fact, becoming a part-time retail worker was not her first job of choice; however, Christyne makes it work and receives praise from loyal customers on a daily basis as a result of her hard-working attitude.

As a freshman in the police tech program offered by John Abbott College, Christyne enrolled in the army and worked during the summer as a ceremonial guard at Parliament hill for the Canadian Grenadier guards.
Being away from home and in the army gave Christyne the essential tools towards becoming a disciplined and independent woman.
The following summer, Christyne had been called for a position to work in administration at Quebec City. Since women were restricted from entering any infantry positions, Christyne graciously accepted the opportunity and used it to build onto her growing resume.
Every chance that came her way, Christyne procured an abundance amount of work experience as a way to strengthen her abilities. Whether it be as simple as guarding a certain area for a security positon or more complex as being employed in the army, Christyne consistently strived for perfection in every domain she entered.
All of these occasions where she worked were to increase her chances of becoming her lifelong dream as a police officer. She had completed all of the necessary courses required but a shocking revelation disturbed this
aspiration. Christyne was declined from the force due to a congenital malformation in her back which she had no prior knowledge of. Luckily, with Christyne’s versatile attitude, she swiftly transitioned and continued to make do with what she had. Upon leaving the army, Christyne had met her husband and had three kids. With her children being in school, Christyne was able to show the leadership she was not able to show from the force through the different organizations she became a part of. As time goes on, Christyne does not regret any of the choices she has made because to her, they have shaped her into a better person and she has learned several valuable lessons that she can now pass on to her children. Being a cashier at a super market isn’t what anyone wants to do nor wishes to become. Some are more prone to working these types of jobs where as others simply fall on bad luck. Being employed is making a commitment to the employer that you are to complete the job to the best of your capabilities. Some may slack off and not respect their wishes, nevertheless, a select few that will go above and beyond are those who have unexpected pasts.
“My name is Sadie Frowne. I work in Allen Street (Manhattan) in what they call a sweatshop. I am new at the work and the foreman scolds me a great deal. I get up at half-past five o’clock every morning and make myself a cup of coffee on the oil stove. I eat a bit of bread and perhaps some fruit and then go to work. Often I get there soon after six o’clock so as to be in good time, though the factory does not open till seven.
Within Megan H. Mackenzie’s essay, “Let Women Fight” she points out many facts about women serving in the U.S. military. She emphasizes the three central arguments that people have brought up about women fighting in the military. The arguments she states are that women cannot meet the physical requirements necessary to fight, they simply don’t belong in combat, and that their inclusion in fighting units would disrupt those units’ cohesion and battle readiness. The 1948 Women’s Armed Services Integration Act built a permanent corps of women in all the military departments, which was a big step forward at that time. Although there were many restrictions that were put on women, an increase of women in the U.S. armed forces happened during

Most women felt that it was their national responsibility to do what was right for their country. Like most women of her time, Alcott wanted to participate and contribute to the war effort. The qualification to be a nurse w...
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines perseverance as the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. In today’s society, there are so many walls and barriers that prevent humans from achieving their dreams and goals and people begin giving up. However, great poets such as Homer and famous music groups such as Mumford and Sons have used the strife of humanity to compose works that can be used to inspire and institute hope for humanity. With perseverance, there are three key aspects, struggle, loyalty, and strength. The struggle is what allows humans to learn, grow, and better themselves, the loyalty demonstrated provides motivation for success, and the personal strength allows the person to build

Two men were working the front end, the cashier at register 3 was helping an older looking woman with a sun hat, Capri pants ,and far too much make up on, the other cashier was leaning on the bag rack behind him, enjoying a break in a slow day . Both of the clerks looked as if they were in their early twenties, definently townies, the townies hated summer vacationers. Townies never said a word to vacationers, and you could tell in their attitude; they all longed for Labor Day to roll around so everyone would go home, bringing peace to their little town again. My observations of the store and town politics were...

The first war contributions of women were as “Nursing Sisters”, who went overseas to care for the sick and wounded in times of conflict. However, it was during World War One that the roles of women in wars began to expand. Most Canadian women stayed on the home front to join the land army, work at munitions factories or support the war in their free time. Canadian women greatly contributed to the war efforts beyond just the role of nursing. A great example of this includes, but is not limited to, their involvement in the farming industry.
