Since the beginning of time, food has always been something that brought groups of people together. A place where families join to celebrate important mile stones of life or just simply reconnect for just a couple hours in midst of their hectic schedules. For me, family meals are a place of joy and laughter that I always look forward too when special holidays come around. There are certain dishes that always make the cut when planning the delicious menu. These things include: hamburger cookouts, delicious desserts, and my personal favorite, Christmas dinner. Every summer, we gather for multiple different holidays, but one thing that’s always in common are juicy hamburger patties sizzling on the grill at my grandfather’s house. With added ingredients, such as fresh produce like ripe tomatoes, crispy lettuce, and savory onions topped with numerous condiments, they taste practically gourmet. The abundance of side dishes including pasta salad, potato chips, crunchy cole slaw, and warm baked beans are essential aspects to the impeccable cookout. Nothing feels more like summer then unwinding poolside while soaking up some sun and then enjoying the …show more content…
Requests are always submitted prior to the holiday and one particular item that is continuously selected is my mom’s strawberry pretzel salad. Guaranteed to be the first dish consumed, the sweet and salty mixture is without a doubt an all-time favorite within my family. An additional beloved dessert is sweet, satisfying, and delicious apple pie pulled straight out of the oven still steaming with heat. As I am generally the one preparing this dish, nothing creates a more at home aroma then the smell of the fresh-cut apples tossed in flavorful spices and baked with a buttery, flaky crust baking in the oven. I believe dessert is the final step to any impeccable
This is a disgrace! To all the turkey’s at Thanksgiving! forty-five million turkey’s are cooked a year. Not only are those awful humans eating us, now they are entrapping us in disgusting cages and making us eat only corn and soybeans. That’s not even the worst part, they put something in our food called vitamins and minerals. I heard yesterday from keith, my turkey friend, that they talk about how they feed turkeys healthy things so that the people who buy the turkeys won’t get sick or something like that. They also say we taste different at different ages.
Using canned foods and instant sauces saved women the time of preparing meat and vegetables and seemingly turned cooking into a two-step process: empty ingredients into a pan and placing the pan in the oven. My mom can attest to this as she often resorts to casseroles when the family schedule becomes hectic. The quick preparation of the meal and slow cooking in the oven takes away from the time my mom spends laboring in the kitchen and allows her to use that time on other tasks around the house or simply to spend more time with my family. Shopping for casseroles includes an assortment of inexpensive ingredients, which can fill the plates of the entire family. Casseroles not only call for cheap ingredients but also a rather short list of them. The growing popularity began to slow as people relied on canned food, left overs, and instant sauces. Despite the simplicity of the dish, my mom enjoys using her creativity with the casserole dishes and has created many recipes of her own for our
One of he biggest things I like about the holidays is the food. There is any kind of pie you can imagine, pumpkin, apple, chocolate, and so many others. Then there is fried chicken. My grandma makes the best fried chicken ever. I love when just me and my cousins stay at her house during holidays. We can eat all the junk food we want.
It is Christmas Eve at my grandparent’s house. I am sitting around the table in the noisy dining room with my whole family. As the seven different fish dishes finish cooking, my grandfather begins to place each one on the table in front of us. My favorite Christmas Eve dish is the first to come out—linguine with clams. As my grandfather enters the room, my senses are suddenly overwhelmed with the smell of the homemade white sauce and the fresh shellfish. My grandfather slowly sets the bowl of linguine with clams in the center of the table and I can barely stop myself from diving right into it. Linguine with clams and the other fish dishes hold a religious significance for most Italians, but for me, these dishes are significant because of the quality time I spend eating them with my family.
Some people dread Thanksgiving. They hate to see relatives they dislike, they abhor the bloated feeling from eating too much, and they despise all the work that goes into planning such a big event. I am certainly not one of these people, for I adore everything about Thanksgiving. I always enjoy spending time with family, I love to eat all the food I can, and I have no problem preparing for this wonderful holiday. Celebrating Thanksgiving is a lengthy yet rewarding process, and I intend to explain how to make the best of it.
Thanksgiving- To most of us, It is just the stereotypical you have turkey, a little stuffing, and maybe some pumpkin pie, but how is it really?
Food is profoundly in American’s culture it is like a social essential necessity. America has a mixture of different ethnicities and although they may have their own food everyone eats similar foods and if one does not it will set a social barrier. Food can be for gift giving, simple generosity or even in exchange for something. Usually, food is shared and many tend to sit together at a specific mealtime it may vary from friends, parents, children or visitors or, strangers, new people. In an occasion like this it somehow becomes a symbol of love as they all come together into an eating event. Aside from just love, there ...
Hamburgers and Ground Beef Each individual in America has a goal he or she wants to accomplish. Whether it’s to purchase a new car or a huge home, it’s a goal that wants to be reached. However, with the amount of fast food that Americans eat today, they will have a hard time accomplishing these goals because of the obesity or even disease they’ll have from the fast food. One major fast food that we like to eat while on the go is hamburgers. If it’s breakfast we grab a burger, if it’s lunch we grab a burger and even when it’s dinner we grab a burger and might throw in some fire and a huge soda to go with it.
America is a capitalist society. It should come to a surprise when we live like this daily. We work for profit. We’ll buy either for pleasure or to sell later for profit. It should come to no surprise that our food is made the same way because we are what we eat. We are capitalist that eat a capitalist meal. So we must question our politics. Is our government system to blame for accepting and encouraging monopolies?
Grocery shopping is something that almost every person in a modern society must do to get their food, however, disposable plastic grocery bags are accumulating on landfills and are polluting our oceans. Environmentalists are now encouraging others to lessen their impact on the environment by opting for reusable bags instead of disposable plastic bags while grocery shopping. Grocery and retail stores have gotten involved in this trend by selling their own reusable bags. This trend of shoppers bringing their own reusable bags with them when shopping is far less harmful for our environment, however, it is uncertain whether people are actually acting in such a way without

The social standing of food became very significant in the early modern Europe. In this period, food was not just a mere substance but was considered an indicator of social position and situation . For instance, famine changed the social framework and relation and even the individual fortunes. Lack of enough food was a common challenge in early modern Europe. Due to this, the fear of famine was witnessed and was influential in the lives of early modern Europeans. With regard to the apparent effects on health and
My favorite meal is the chicken fettuccini pasta. I chose this dish because I can never stop eating it. The meal is made up of warm tenderized chunks of chicken, delicate smooth creamy white sauce, and many varieties of sliced up vegetables. However, when I was a child vegetables has always been difficult to eat. It prevented me from enjoying my favorite meal because I would always have to take out the mixed vegetables in the meal. As a child I 've tried avoiding vegetables, but was found throughout the school cafeteria 's food, my mother 's cooking, or many fancy restaurants. There was nowhere to run. Over the years, my mother knew I was struggling to eat vegetables. She worked very hard by coming up with her own recipes in order for me to eat healthy. From mixing in the vegetables into the meals I usually eat or to trick me into eating meat but was actually vegetables. Soon later I came to realize how much effort she has put into the meals. All those hour and hard work my mother put it allowed me to enjoy my favorite meal again.
Collected and dumped not eaten foods that means remains of a hot meal after the meal is over, and everyone has finished eating is called leftover food. West materials and food scraps also conceder as leftover food(Cho et al., 2004a). The ultimate fate of leftovers depends on where the meal was eaten, the preferences of the diner, and the prevailing social culture.
