Christmas Caroling Safety Tips
Christmas caroling is a favored family tradition dating back generations. As you plan to take your beloved family and friends out this year, be smart, plan ahead, and be safe!
Planning people.
Invite your friends and families to come out caroling with you. Take a look at the ages of the children attending. Adult chaperones are a necessity, and the younger the children, the more you will need. For really young children, plan for one child per adult hand. Assign children to their adult friend. Older children can be assigned a peer partner or two. Children should be required to stay with those people at all times. Also consider the age and attention span of the children who will be involved. Plan the length of time

Avoid wearing dark clothing. Instead, wear bright, flashy colors that can be easily seen at night. Consider adding reflective tape. Try to have all members of your group wear the same colors. That will also help lost members more readily find you.
Look for the light.
Try to stay in well-lit areas. Also carry flashlights. They will help you see where you are going as well as help you to be seen. Adults and older children could even carry lit candles. Or, plan to do some caroling during the daytime.
Wrap up for winter.
Christmas occurs in winter, and for most of us that means extremely cold weather. Check the weather forecast for the designated caroling time and be sure to dress appropriately. Dressing in layers provides more warmth than just one big, warm coat. Cover all extremities to avoid frostbite. Include hats, earmuffs, gloves, mittens, thick socks, waterproof boots, scarves, etc.
Ways of warming.
Keep huddled together to create body heat to stay warm. Set up stopping points along the route where you can go inside someone’s house or a business for a few minutes to warm up. Bring along some hot cider or hot chocolate to drink. Have someone follow along in a heated car and take turns warming up inside.

The main character, Ebenezer Scrooge, is the very greedy man of this play/movie. All he cares about is making money and using it all on himself. Until he gets visited by three ghosts which are the past, the present, and the future. This drama and movie have many similarities, yet many differences.

Christmas has consumed itself. At its conception, it was a fine idea, and I imagine that at one point its execution worked very much as it was intended to. These days, however, its meaning has been perverted; its true purpose ignored and replaced with a purpose imagined by those who merely go through the motions, without actually knowing why they do so.

In the fictional play, A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley, by Israel Horovitz, Scrooge’s first impression is not very good. He refuses to donate to the poor, he dismisses family who want a relationship, and he is miserable and tries to make others the same way. When two men come to see Scrooge, they were asking for donations for the poor. Scrooge, being one of the wealthiest people in the community, is very dismissive, wrongfully so, and asks the two men to leave empty handed. When Scrooge asks if there are workhouses for the poor to go to, the men explain that most people would rather die than to go there. In response Scrooge states, “If they would rather die, than they had better do it and decrease the surplus in population.” (649) When
How can one truly be happy? According to psychologist Karyn Hall, radical acceptance of oneself is the only way to live a happy, healthy life. In Charles Dickens’s novel, “A Christmas Carol”, the main character, Ebenezer Scrooge, declares that he will live in the past, present, and future. By the end of the story, Scrooge radically accepts himself, learns to love others, and copes with his anxiety. Scrooge’s declaration to live in the past, present, and future demonstrates his ability to overcome his suffering and become empathetic of the world. Although it is not possible for Scrooge to completely overcome his anxiety, he learns to radically accept it.

In "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a transformation as a result of his encounters with three ghosts and becomes a kind, happy, and generous man. His greedy, cruel, and grumpy demeanor is replaced seemingly overnight, but he doesn’t just wake up and decide to be nice. It takes three Spirits to change his outlook on life - The Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future. The Ghost of Christmas Past makes Scrooge begin to regret his selfishness, and the Ghost of Christmas Present begins to teach him about others. This second Ghost helps to make him realize that money doesn't buy happiness. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, however, teaches the most profound lesson of all: unless he changes, no one will care if Scrooge dies. Because of the Ghosts, by Christmas morning Ebenezer Scrooge is a completely different person from the man who went to bed on Christmas Eve.
