"I am a positive person, I never think of the glass as half empty. I just keep pushing forward" Rosie Perez the proud woman who declared this quote is a person who overcame many obstacles and difficulties to bring success in her life, despite her many hardships and traumatizing past.
Angela should also seek out psychological services such as individual therapy, family therapy with Sarah, couples therapy with Wayne, and complete a psychological evaluation to determine further services that she should partake in. Angela should also find full time employment so that she can either contribute in Sarah’s home or move into a home of her own to help her relationship with her mother. Intervention in Sarah and Angela’s relationship is just as important as Angela and Adam’s relationship as Bornstein (2012) describes a mother and her baby as partners in the child’s socialization.
I also spoke with her about the importance of medical care for her children and how seeing a doctor regularly is important for them, and for her. Precious reports that she never went to a doctor growing up, and her first time inside a hospital was when she was giving birth to her second child. I explained to Precious how she and her children will qualify for Medicaid services, and what all this will cover for them. Precious was very receptive to this information and liked the idea of being able to see a doctor. Another important intervention for Precious is treating her mental health. Precious has been through some very traumatic events throughout her life, and counseling is something that can help her work through the past to develop a healthier outlook on life for herself and her children. I also spoke with Precious about attending support groups which can help her work through these issues, as well as giving her opportunities to be involved in her community. Precious said she would like that, and was very open to this information. I have referred her to a Teenage mother’s support group, along with Survivors of Incest anonymous support

People of the court, we’re here today on behalf of our defendant, Mary Maloney. Our defendant is not guilty of first degree murder, which she has been charged with. After hearing Mary’s testimony it is obvious that Mary reacted under the influence of pregnancy hormones, past insanity, and extreme stressful anxiety.

(Forney, 230). Similarly, in Depression, Allie’s mother is the sole reason that she decides to seek help. She went to the doctor so her mother would quit crying, as she stated “If I go to a doctor, will you quit making that sound?” (Brosh, 69). Although her mother did not recommend going to the doctor directly, she encouraged the suggestion, resulting in Allie’s doctor’s appointment.
The tragedies Ruth Ginsburg experienced throughout her upbringing had a lasting contribution to her life today. In 1933, she was born to Russian-Jewish immigrants amidst the Great Depression. In the hardships of the Great Depression, she lost both her older sister and mother as a child. This time was one of great difficulty for Ginsburg; however, she withstood this adversity and gained invaluable life lessons giving her the opportunity to attain unprecedented levels of success. After coping with her losses, she left to attend Harvard Law School and later Columbia Law School, two world-renowned schools of law. At this period in history, however, both men who dominated this field and who ran the schools discriminated Ginsburg based on her gender (“Ruth Bader Ginsburg”). At one point during the school day, the Dean of Harvard Law approached her and said, “How do you justify taking a spot from a qualified man?” (Galanes). Despite this prejudice, Ginsburg continued to excel in her schooling where she later graduated as top of her class at Columbia (“Ruth Bader Ginsburg”).
Due to her experiencing of her mother as insensitive, ridiculing, and disparaging we can understand that she would have an aggressive drive towards her mother for making her feel bad about herself. Freud described a type of anxiety known as signal anxiety. This type of anxiety is produced by a danger situation, or via the anticipation of danger. Signal anxiety is produced by the ego, and it serves to activate the forces at the command of the ego to meet or avoid the impending traumatic situation, which would result should the id be allowed to act on the aggressive drive (also known as id’s wish-fulfillment) (CITE). Freud identified four primary danger situations. They include loss of object, loss of object’s love, castration anxiety, and guilt (CITE). Of these danger situations, the most relevant one for Ms. M is that of castration anxiety. Castration anxiety, in a metaphorical sense, refers to the fear of being degraded or made insignificant. It is usually an irrational fear where an individual will go ...

Elizabeth Cady Stanton was born in November 12, 1815, in Johnstown, New York. Her parents were Margaret Livingston and Daniel Cady, who were important citizens. Daniel Cady, in particular, was notable for being a lawyer, state assemblyman, and congressman, who supported his daughter’s education. Unlike many women of her time, she went to primary school at the Johnstown Academy and attended Emma Willard’s Troy Female Seminary, an all girl’s boarding school that taught grades 9-12. In addition, she was taught Greek by a minister and received an informal legal education from her father and the young men who were learning under him. Although she was raised a strict Presbyterian in a conservative household, she had other influences in her family that were more radical. Her cousin, Gerri Smith, was a philanthropist,
Modern society has become emotionally numb and drastically morbid. It is proven by the fact that negative headlines sell better than positive ones. The same can be said of the human tendency to accept negative information about someone more readily than positive information. The writer of the article “Lizzie Borden: Her School and Later Life – A Noble Woman, Though Retiring”, published in The Boston Herald, advocates for Lizzie Borden’s innocence, despite the human tendency to reject positive information about an individual. Lizzie Borden was being accused of murder and the writer sought to prove, through an extensive analysis of her appearance, that Lizzie could not be guilty. The author’s use of faulty logic, due to the lack of substantial
My mother was a very well-tempered woman, who kept to herself. Like Suzette, I didn’t know much about my mother’s background, or a lot of the pain and hardship she went through until I was older. This is when I realized why my mother conducted herself the way she did, because of all the pain she had built up inside of her from her past. For example; it was very hard to get my mother to talk during emotional situations, she was always quiet and would just mostly stare at you in silence. My mother was born in Philadelphia on October 3rd, 1966. Diane was the oldest of her four siblings, and if it’s as common as I think older siblings tend to have it harder than the others because they have to set examples, their looked up to as the protectors, and are just assigned a lot of responsibility at a young age.
The collection of the Athena Acropolis reliefs are mainly all working to depict the same message and all have the same style. As opposed to the other set of reliefs that are also located at the parthenon called the Parthenon Frieze. One of the main things that set apart The Athena Acropolis carvings and the carvings from The Parthenon Frieze is that the frieze carvings are typically larger scale narratives that focus on scenes of war or preparing for war. Many of the carvings that I saw at the museum were all very unified, because of the excessive amounts of fabric draping over them, which seems to be the main focus in this whole collection. Although it may seem like the heavy fabric is overbearing on their bodies, it is still very easy to
I started reading Medea, by Euripides, on March 6, 2015, on a Nook, and then I purchased, Medea and Other Plays by Euripides. I have had my downloaded version with me everywhere to read during my free time, or as distraction to not worry about my critically ill infant nephew. Euripides created Medea about 2500 years ago, 431 B.C., in ancient Greece, and first produced this for the Greater Dionysia. During this time period, Euripides witnessed the rebuilding of the Athenian walls after the Persian Wars. He was considered one of the most influential dramatists, as well as, the last in classical Greek culture.
