The two largest current religions on the planet are Christianity and Islam. Because of this most people are choosing one of the two rather than the many other smaller religions in the world. Do to this it is important to understand the basic beliefs of the two, seeing as they do share many beliefs and ideals but differ on others. In this essay I will talk about the most basic beliefs of both religions and the size and amount of growth of both religions.

Both Christianity and Islam have basic beliefs and tenants that the follows are to live by and believe. In each of the religions there is the belief that God is the only God and he is neither equal or lesser to anyone or anything. In this belief both religions shun any kind of worship of a any God or idol other than the God spoken of in the Bible and Quran. Islam recognizes many of the prophets and history figures in the Bible as what the Bible describes them meaning that they also believe in the existence of Jesus. Except where the Bible speaks of Jesus being God or a extension of God, the Quran states that God is not Jesus and Jesus is not god. In both religions there is two afterlifes, one of punishment for your deeds in life and of eternal bliss as a reward for living your life as God desired. Islam does not believe in the idea of original where Christianity believes man is born into sin and can only be saved by accepting Jesus as their messiah. Islam believes every man and women is born pure and sinless where in Christianity it is said that man is born with the mark of sin on his being because of the original sin of Adam in the Garden of Eden.
