For anyone that don’t know me, Maria Angelina Meraz was my daughter. Although we had little time together I cherished our time. Through our struggles of only being me and her, on welfare and wondering where we would rest at nite we kept moving forward. I did everything I could to take care of her and be the best single, homeless pops I can ever be. I just wish we had more time together, one of the reasons why is because my daughter was the only thing I had left.
I chose Saint Catherine of Alexandria because I think she is an amazing role model. She has done a lot of brave things to keep teaching the faith, and I will try to be like her but in a more modern way. She also died a virgin and martyr, and she is the patroness of philosophers and preachers. Because she is patroness to philosophers and preachers, she is often shown with a quill in her hand. St. Catherine is also pictured with a wheel because she was tied to a spiked wheel, and when it broke, she was beheaded. Her feast day is November 25. Nothing is said about when she was beatified or when she became a saint, except that she was canonized during the pre-Congregation period. I think Saint Catherine of Alexandria deserves to be a saint, and
The author and I are experiencing the same point of view on how the media influence people around us. This article is not only written for any particular group, race, ethnicity, gender, etc… I think as a human being, this article is related to all of us. The author has done an outstanding job for all of us by describing as people how the media represent a big problem for our society or our community. I learned a valuable lesson from this article, which I also discovered that central Africa women must have hips, but because of the western image that value is no longer applicable. I also encourage everyone to stay focused and love their culture while watching some TV shows because it is easy to forget about who you are and adopted another way of doing things you never used to do before.
Encapsulated in a democratic homeland since the advent of time, media systems are habitually acclaimed as the “fourth power,” with its journalists often hailed as the “watch-dogs” of such a society. Lending itself to act as ‘gatekeeper’ for the wider society and performing the traditional role of journalism, the media (overall) exist as powerful “instruments of knowledge” that perform the function of providing information to the masses in a public sphere, where issues may be discussed, justified and contested (Scannell, 1995, p. 17). Evidently, media workers play a pivotal role in our society; however, their status in the realm of professions is not definite. Although the above emphasize the predicament at the heart of ...
Tom Stoppard, the Czech playwright, once said: “I still believe that if your aim is to change the world, journalism is a more immediate short-term weapon.” According to The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Journalism is a field where journalists work hard to report and transmit news to an audience. The transmission process is done through print (newspapers, magazines and books), broadcast (radio and television) and online (blogs, social networks...) media. This seems a very simple and easy job however journalism is not a safe and secure domain to work in; journalists may face different dangers throughout their working life.
