To understand someone’s motivations, lifestyle choices, and beliefs one must understand the filter through which they see the world; the filter that people use to view the world is what is known as the person’s worldview. Worldviews expose what a person believes to be truth and how that affects the things that they care about. Every individual’s story is influenced by their worldview as to how they respond to certain events, what they are hoping to achieve in their lifetime, and what they hope for after death. It has been stated, “Every story is informed by a worldview.” (Godawa, 60). With that said, the Christian Theism worldview influences my story; I choose to look at the world in this way because of the love, grace, and hope that is offered …show more content…
This is stated in Genesis 1:1 “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female.” (NIV). The fact that he created them in this way holds deep importance because it means that we relate to God and each other in the same way that God would. He created us to be like Him and in communion with him, but it also affects how we see each other. If we believe this, then we should treat each person with love and respect because they are created in the image of God. He created us with intelligence to be creative social beings. Although man is created in God’s image, there is a problem with mankind in this belief. The problem is that sin has come into the world and destroyed God’s creation and separated us from Him; however, we believe the solution to this problem comes through the person and work of Jesus Christ, God’s son. Because of this, Christian Theist believe that God is a personal, infinite being because He relates to us and allows us to have a relationship with him, even if we have messed up. A scripture passage that supports this is the following: “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (1 John …show more content…
Outside of their views of the likelihood of a supernatural being ruling over the universe, Materialistic Naturalist also believe many things that oppose the Christian Worldview. For example, Naturalist believe that the world cares for nothing because it is impersonal, blind, and chaotic; whereas in Christian Theism, it is believed that the world is orchestrated by God for His glory. Where truth comes from creates another place of differing opinions for these two worldviews. Materialistic Naturalist believe that truth comes from science. However scripture says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). With that said, Christian theist believe that truth comes from God and His Holy Word. Materialistic Naturalist believe that the greatest problem is ignorance of the materialistic makeup of reality, and they believe the scientific method to discover the scientific principles of truth. In short, the biggest difference between these ideals are that Materialistic Naturalist believe that knowledge is power while Christian Theist believe that power comes from God. Despite their many different views, both worldviews do believe that the natural world is real, not an

The foundation of a Christian worldview is the belief in a personal God, creator and ruler of the universe. The Christian worldview views the world through God’s word, providing the framework for humanity to live by giving meaning and purpose to life. It defines who Jesus is, human nature, and how salvation is achieved. In essence it is the basis of which Christians behave, interact, interpret life and comprehend reality. A Christian worldview imparts confidence, answers to life’s problems, and hope for the future. In this paper I will discuss the essentials of a Christian worldview and an analysis of the influences, benefits, and difficulties sustaining the Christian faith.
Christians believe that God created the earth along with civilization in seven days and some scientist believe that the earth has always been here and that everything just has evolved over time. Being a Christian in this world and taking any sort of science class will test your faith, because all of these different things such as evolution and our bodies being powered by chemical reactions, while depending on the laws of chemistry operating in a uniform fashion. Chemistry seeks to model, understand, tailor and make use of everything in the natural world, from the atomic building blocks of matter to the complex metabolic pathways of living organisms. It is a fascinating subject which has the potential to impact the world in which we live for either good or ill. As Christians in chemistry, the interaction of our complementary scientific and Christian worldviews is vitally important, allowing us to grow in our own faith and enabling us to be effective contributors, participants and witnesses in our classes and
The Christian worldview emphasizes on one absolute God who is eternal and sacred. The origins that Christians follow is written in Genesis 1, proclaiming God spoke and created the world. God then created man in the image of God.
The Christian Worldview consists of the Creator, His Creation and His son. The story began thousands of years ago and is still relevant today. This paper will give you a glimpse of the three main characters, how they relate to each other, and why I believe this is the only worldview that provides truth and hope for my life.
The creator can only determine the Christian worldview and the origin of life. As followers of Christ, we believe that in (Genesis 1:1) with just the spoken word, creation was set in place. This view is what theism places as the foundation of a belief in God. In its consistency through out the Bible our origin is displayed in faith and by understanding (Hebrews 11:3).
Christian theism is accepting as truth that God is the one and only creator of the universe.. Per C.S. Lewis, there is a God who is wholly good and righteous, who hates hatred and loves love and has distinct views on how we should act or not act. (Lewis, 2001). This view is a shining example of theism- which can be defined simply as the belief in one God who is an absolute, eternal, omniscient, omnipotent and perfect being who is related to the world as its cause, but is unaffected by the world- we can’t change Him- only He can change us, as well as being transcendent over it.
God is like a father and we, humanity are his children. He teaches us, prepares us, disciplines us, and punishes us for not obeying and following His commands. The attributes of God that belong distinctly to him are that
Christian Worldview is specific and one that focuses on gods teaching through, scripture, prayer, chapel and the bible. Christians live to Gods words and become a product of God by using his scriptures to live by. Humans must put their trust in God and let him guide their lives. In order to have a good relationship with God you must have faith and ask for forgiveness when needed. This worldview can be explained by answering who God is, who Jesus is, how humanity goes into being a Christian, and how to solve the problems of humanity.
Naturalism worldview relies upon experiences and reasons but solely on scientific evidence to develop an understanding of reality. Therefore, all knowledge of the universe falls within the scope of scientific investigation. Three key ideas are within a naturalist’s worldview and they are: Materialism, The Causal Closure of the Physical and Supervenience. Materialism deals with reality being just a physical universe. The Causal Closure of the Physical supports the fact that physics run the show. Supervenience says all that is true in the world are from the truths of nature and ultimately about physics.
Naturalism emphasizes that the universe is a vast machine or organism, without any general purpose. Naturalism neither denies nor affirms the existence of God, either as transcendent or immanent. However, naturalism makes God an unnecessary hypothesis and essentially superfluous to scientific investigation. Naturalism entails the nonexistence of all supernatural beings, including the theistic god. Naturalists not only hold that the view that evidence for the supernatural has not been convincingly demonstrated, but also think that the belief in supernatural has lead to a great deal of misery for humanity and thus needs to be rejected and replaced with critical inquiry, accountability, and
Everyone has a worldview with main characteristics that are ever changing. Different sources influence this framework such as parenting, friendship, telecommunication or internet media, educational and religious sectors. Hindson and Caner (2008) propose standardization methods of worldview are measured either by emotions and feelings, socialism, or the truth (Hindson & Caner, 2008, p.499). Recognition of a person’s worldview can be found based on ones answer to several reality questions surrounding God (origin), human nature (identity), reality (meaning/purpose), after life (destiny), values (morality or ethics).
All people have a worldview that is based on personal beliefs forming their reality and what they feel is meaningful in life. I am a Christian of faith that has a biblical worldview, which is based on the word of God. The Book of Romans 1-8 provides the word of God and answers for how Christians can live a righteous life for our savior Jesus Christ.
My personal worldview explains the way I view and live life through the assumptions and beliefs I hold in response to the world around me. I believe I was created for a specific reason and purpose.
Christianity has no conflict with science but it does with the idea of scientism. Science is based on observation and methods; whereas, Christianity is based more on personal experiences. Our world is very vibrant and distinctive and just one perspective cannot fully explain the world. Our planet is unique because all the natural laws are in harmony. By observing our planet people have concluded that every law is perfect and right for people who live on it. All the forces and elements are in balance to sustain our life. Every detail was has a specific purpose to it. Science supports that everything in the world is surprisingly “fine-t...
