This book is a great inspiration for the women that are having doubts about going into the ministry or marrying a preacher. The book covers equipment to help us once we are in the ministry and new to a congregation, how we should adjust to moving and leaving everything behind. For instance, we as wives will sense we are so alone and have nobody to talk to you while our husband is at work. Another great lesson we learn in this book as wives is how to work together as a team with our husbands. “Where your treasure is, your heart is also” (15). This is a major subject, we absorb in this book that a preacher’s family is not rich and a preacher’s family is certainly the most watched, but ignored family there is in most of the occasions. And, we see the qualifications the preacher’s wife should have or develop in order to help her spouse and help her in situations that she may find herself. She must be a happy, outgoing, positive minded, caring and last but not least a loving person.

In many ways Ted Koontz, a Professor of Ethics and Peace Studies at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, continues where Dyck leaves off. In the article, “Commitments and Complications in Doing Good,” Koontz covers a slew of some of the hardest questions when it comes to service. Although Koontz covers both theological and implantation issues, this section will look at only the theological problems. Koontz agrees with the theme, common with previous works, that Mennonites and in particular MCC have emphasized work over words. MCC is a major part of the “Recovery of the Anabaptist Vision” as Koontz puts it. He goes on to stress that the vision is being met by MCC in many ways. Like the Anabaptist vision, MCC is also primarily concerned about ethical living, not “words (worship, evangelism, mission) or religious experience (conversion, piety)…” MCC and the Anabaptist vision both emphasize how Christian discipleship is hard as well.

In asking outsider witnesses to enter into the storied lives of others, definitional ceremonies allow for people to journey with another for a brief time, just as Jesus did with his disciples on the road to Emmaus. In thinking upon the preparation period that leaders go through in preparing for the retreat, the principles and practices of narrative therapy can prove beneficial to the formation process, especially in the crafting of retreat talks. Additionally, an incorporation of definitional ceremonies can intensify the experience of being accompanied so that retreat leaders can accompany others more effectively.

In today's world, there are many different ways to get involved in religion; various methods have attracted groups of all ages and races. One popular association is FCA or Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This particular group has helped me to find Christ in my own life. There are a lot of unconventional activities to help the younger generations get involved. Some of these activities included Death Week, which focused on death and pain, meetings about family and divorce, lectures to help people reach for their goals, and encouragement speakers. There is a great deal of fun incorporated into all the seriousness, though. We went on ski trips, did missionary work, and put on skits. All of these activities involved Christ in some way, and helped the younger generation to realize that being spiritual was not 'uncool.'; When I attended the FCA meetings, it was the one time that I actually felt free from all my problems. FCA helped me to find my spiritual self and gave me a sense of completion.
