Chore Wars There was a time where I didn’t like to do chores, shocking I know right. well during this time of hate in chores I guess that I kinda sorta went to war with my Mom over chores. Why can’t they just help or do something anything. well I wrote this piece it is called chore wars a story where I have to do chores and what happens. When I was around the age of ten I was the worst procrastinator in the world well can’t give that rank to myself that rank my sister was pretty bad, well that’s another story. I would make excuses that were totally fake like ‘’oh ya sorry can’t I have to……….. go grab clothes for school’’, It was friday night. So to continue my parents knew that they were fake so what she would do is add a chore to my …show more content…
That was the best part of the day and when my sister was yelled at when she didn’t do what she was told, but then she gave me chores and she gave a lot I tried to get around some of them, but she was able to throw the chore back at me like a broken vacuum and she gave me even more to do. She was amazing it took me two and a half hours to get them done and by then it was time for bed I stayed up all night tossing and turning trying to think of a plan to get her back but I was blake I had nothing. The next day I realized that I had to do the dishes and I didn’t have an excuse so I said “okay” with defeat choking me up and every minute it took me to clean I tried and tried and tried to think of a way to get her. I spent the day in and out of my brain twisting it and turning it to think of anything. Then I thought a little more and that after I did the dishes she didn’t give me any more chores. I couldn’t wrap my mind around why see didn’t give me more chores and my mind is like play doe. There was peacefully asleep in the dead of night it HIT like a train dropped from a plain it was insane, she didn’t give more chores because I didn’t complain. I had to experiment this theory out so the next day she asked me to the laundry so I did without complaint and guess what NO MORE CHORES what is this why could I not think
People become inspired from all sorts of unique things from a play or a quote to a book of poems. Julia Alvarez’s “On Not Shoplifting Louise Bogan’s The Blue Estuaries” conveys the speaker’s discoveries and the passion and inspiration they created through the use of tone, imagery, similes, and alliteration.
As I was starting my homework, I heard my mom yell "Honey! Come down for dinner!!". As I went down the stairs, an aroma of buttery mashed potatoes filled the air. As soon as I sat down at the table, my father asked the same question he does everyday, "what did you learn at school today sweetheart?" "Well, I read a story called "Block Party" and we had to identify the theme of the story, which was that you dont necessarily need a mother to grow up well, get advice, help regarding more personal problems, or to have a female role model in your life. I agree with the theme of the story because if you need advice you can always ask your friends, or or if you are having more personal problems you could go to other relatives in your family. Also, you could have another female role model, such as an aunt or a grandmother.
After reading, The Case Against Chores, by Jane Smiley, I must say that I disagree with her perception of chores. Ms. Smiley states that the reason for chores is for “developing good work habits or, in the absence of good work habits, at least habits of working” (Smiley, 2009, p. 274). However, chores teach us things such as responsibility and how to go above and beyond what might be asked of us. As a child I did a lot of chores and had to grow up a little faster than some children, but I would not change that for the world. It molded me into the adult that I am today. Therefore, chores, to a certain extent, are a great way to start you on the path in preparing you for adulthood.
After we relaxed for a long time, it was time for me to go and wash off all of the seaweed my hair had collected. I turn on the shower and there is a huge spider waiting for me just sitting there waiting for me. I killed it and then resumed my shower. After I got out and we were all ready leave we didn’t know where to go. Until my sister saw a commercial for this really cool place with alligators and a Ferris wheel, we decided to go there. As we pulled up to the place we noticed that there was an amazing Ferris wheel and I immediately got really excited. But my parents said that I have to wait until after dinner. So we went and ate our amazing dinner and it was so amazing. I ordered the best lobster and crab, it was so
cHave you ever been to confident in something? Well in the story “The fight” by Adam Bagdasarian Will is being over confident and very cocky because when his loyal follower Kevin didn’t think Will would be close to winning the fight but Will on the other hand thought he would crush Mike in the fight. Lastly Will under estimated Mike and thought he would be bigger and that is why Will is cocky and overconfident.
When I walked inside the front door something didn’t seem right. The feeling of sorrow overwhelmed the house. It was so thick I could literally feel it in the air. Everyone was motionless. They were sulking;I was befuddled. The most energetic people in the world, doing absolutely nothing. I repeatedly asked them what was wrong. After an hour or so, my dad pulled me aside. He said that my Aunt Feli had passed away last night. My mind went for a loop, I was so confused. I thought that he was joking, so I replied “You’re lying, don’t mess with me like that.” and punched his shoulder softly while I chuckled. My dad quickly started tearing up and said, “There...
We all decided to go back to the house to watch a movie to end the night; I wasn’t too excited about that because I had already watched the movies we had in the house three times. When we got home, we went to the living room of the basement. I don't remember much of what happened but what I do remember is Mickey’s boyfriend calling my sister crazy. I don’t know what happened to me but I felt that same rush of emotion from the day when I played volleyball and this time, I wasn’t going to be a little bitch again. All that anger came to me and the next thing I knew, I jumped my sister’s boyfriend and attempted to fight him.
Doing the household chores isn’t even difficult task to accomplish. Children your age have had to do much more strenuous chores, especially back in the late 18th century. “The Chimney Sweeper” by William Blake is a prime example of this. Blake’s poem talks about the hardships that come with working in the chimney’s and the mindsets of the young persons working in them.
There is a small road lead to her house which I have to walk because my brother car can’t drive through. On the side of the road are blocks of block beautiful golden rice field ready to harvest.I saw farmer get ready to go to the field and my parent use to be one of them.Suddenly I heard “Come in ” my aunt ,she shouts out from the middle of the field with an excited voice. “ Okay, make sure your dog was was not coming out from the middle of nowhere and to bite me like last time,” my mom said and laugh. We start talking and she asks “ do you still go to school”. “ Of course, yes, I’m going to start College when I come back” I answer. “ Where are Nhi and Mi, are they in school?” I ask. Nhi and Mi are my cousins, they about my age. My aunt, she
I woke up Tuesday morning excited for the day I was going to spend with my mom. I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking fresh coffee listening to my mom and aunt tease and joke around about how paranoid my mom was about doing well in her classes, my aunt was telling her that maybe now that I was there, she would relax a little bit and have some fun. Our plan was to go to one of mom's classes with her, and then on a tour of UNC and then we were going to go to dinner and a movie.
When I came inside I was so cold that I felt like a ice cube so my mom made me some hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was steaming hot! I had to wait for 8 mins, but it was worth it because it was so tasty and warm. My mom then told me that dinner was done. When I had smelt the delicious dinner mom made, my stomach had roared with hunger and I swear everyone heard it. We had a giant turkey, some mashed potatoes, and mac cheese it was the perfect family dinner, so delicious. When dinner was done, my mom said I had to lay down for school tomorrow so I leaped in my warm, cozy bed and put the covers over me and my mom said “Goodnight.” Man, today just seemed to fly by so quickly with all the excitement I had. As i drifted off to sleep all i could think about was how much fun my day was and I wish every week we had a snow
It seemed like a normal day when I entered Mrs. A’s AP Language and Composition class, but little did I know that she was going to assign a very important project that was going to take forever. I took my seat and wrote down what was on the board. Then I sat patiently and waited for Mrs. A to come explain what we were doing today. When the tardy bell rang, Mrs. A glided into the room and gave us all a stack of papers. She then proceeded to discuss our upcoming assignment, a memoir. As she explained the very important assignment, I wondered whom I would write about. No one really came to mind to write about and I thought for sure I would never be able to get this thing done on time. I finally decided that I would write in on my mother, Kari Jenson. I knew I would probably put the project off until the very end and do it the weekend before even though it would get on my mom’s nerves. Putting work off was just how I did everything, it worked for me. When I arrived home from school that day, I told mom about the project. I told her I would most likely write it about her and she was overjoyed.
...y brother and took the dog out. I jumped into the shower and did a fast wash. I ran to my bedroom to get dressed and took a quick look at the clock. I had plenty of time. I got dressed, and I even changed my shirt twice because I could. I went down for breakfast and the coffee was ready. But, I was alone. My heart started racing. In my hurry to get ready, I did not notice that my mom and brother were not up. “Oh no”, I thought. I dashed to my mom’s room and yelled, “Get Up, Get Up!, you need to hurry or I am going to be late for school.” My mom looked at me and said, “Why are you in such a big rush today, when normally I cannot get you to open your eyes at this time?” I yelled, “Hurry or I am going to be tardy and get suspended.” My mom just smiled and pulled the covers over her head. As she did that, I could just hear her say, “Trace it is Saturday.”
After half an hour of waiting for someone to call and my sister and dad to come home also thinking about what to do. I gave up and went to take a shower. When I came out, my bed was made and my mom called me down for breakfast, which I didn’t feel like having. I just drank a glass of orange juice. My mother went to the porch to sit. After a few seconds I decided to join her. Since I had nothing better to do at that moment, I asked her where my sister and dad had gone. All she said was “I don’t know”. I gu...
The significance of chores in the household is important in building the character of our youth. When children participate in the chores of the house they can learn more than how to wash a plate or how to separate the recycling; children can learn to be independent and responsible and develop a proper work ethic that can benefit them throughout their lives. Physical activity is another benefit that children can receive by participating in chores; physical activity can reduce the risk of mental and physical disease. Children who do not do chores may also be independent, responsible, be appreciative of hard work, and have a reduced risk of mental and physical illnesses, but children who do participate in chores are more likely to experience
