The immune system is the body’s defense against infectious organisms and other invaders. Through a series of steps called the immune response, the immune system attacks organisms and substances that invade body systems and cause disease. The immune system is made up of a network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to protect the body. When it comes to children versus adults; for instance an infant and an elderly person don 't have a strong immune system, while a young adult they have the strongest immune system. Therefore, the top 5 childhood illness are chickenpox, croup, diarrhea, measles, and mumps. For each illness there are always prevention care for a child to be healthy.
Chickenpox, also known as varicella ;is a highly contagious viral infection causing itchy, blister-like rash one the skin. It usually starts on the chest, back, and face then spreads to the rest of the body. The most characteristic symptom is an itchy, blister-like rash on the skin. Other symptoms may include fever, feeling tired, and headaches. Chickenpox can be prevented by a vaccine. Treatment usually involves relieving symptoms although high-risk groups may receive antiviral medications. Chickenpox usually last five to ten days, complications may occasionally include pneumonia, inflammation of the brain or bacterial infections of the skin among other. Treatment of chickenpox in children is aimed at symptoms while the immune system deal with the virus. With children younger than 12 years, cutting nails keeping them clean is an important part of treatment as they are most likely to scratch their blisters more deeply than adults. It is recommended to ke...

...nd spreads readily amount people living in close quarters. Initial sign and symptoms often include fever, muscle pain, headache and feeling tired. Then usually followed by painful swelling of one or both paroid glands. Symptoms typically occur 16-18 days after exposure and resolve after 7-10 days. Mumps is preventable by two doses of the mumps vaccine.
Overall all parents should pay special care to every single of their children, when it comes to proper hygiene, and often doctor visits to their regular vaccines and check ups. It only take one cough for a child to be contaminated with germs and bacteria. Children will be children and its up to adults to warn children about the do’s and don’t. Teach a child how to properly wash hands after coming from outside or before coming to the dinner table, and even ask if they wanna eat a candy is it still eatable.
Shingles, herpes zoster, is a very contagious and painful rash, or blister that appears on the skin. These rashes most commonly appear on the sides of the body in stripes. The stripes are made up of many very painful blisters caused by a certain type of virus. The varicella zoster, most commonly known as the chicken pox virus attacks the nerve roots in that area. The herpes zoster virus is in the herpes family, including HSV, herpes simple virus, which causes cold sores, fever blisters, and genital herpes. (WebMD, 2011) Most people are required to get the chicken pox shot when they are children although some do not. The chicken pox shot helps to keep out the virus by keeping it dormant in the nerves. The varicella zoster virus stays in a few cells; this is how shingles appear suddenly. It appears when the dormant cells become active in the later years of life.
The job of the immune system is to keep “foreign” invaders out of the body, or if one gets in, to seek it out and kill it. These foreign invaders are called pathogens, which are tiny organisms that can cause an infection in the body. Pathogens can be bacteria, parasites, and fungi (http://www.niaid.nih.gov/topics/immuneSystem/pages/whatisimmunesystem.aspx).
The function of the immune system is it helps play a vital part of our everyday lives. It helps protect our bodies where ever we go. Our immune systems help defend our bodies against germs and microorganisms. The immune system is made up of various special cells, tissues, organs and proteins. This special system does an amazing job of keeping our bodies healthy and in good shape from different diseases and infections.
Having worked as a rehab aide in an outpatient clinic, my pediatric observation experience was completely different from what I am used to seeing. The therapist I observed was Allie Ribner who works at All Children’s Child Development and Rehab Center. Each session was completely different from one another for the session was geared towards the goals of the child and families. I found this to be a great learning experience for I saw a wide variety of different treatments and age range from 14 months to 15 years old.
Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are the extremely traumatic events that take place in an individual’s childhood that negatively affect their future attempts to succeed in life. ACEs include enduring physical and verbal abuse, living in dysfunction and over exposure to violent and criminal behavior. It was determined that children who are in the child welfare system are more likely to suffer ACEs and develop physical and mental health issues as well as engage in risky behavior (Brown & Shillington, 2017); children who suffer ACEs also have lower self-efficacy than other children. In all of the research prior to this study, much of the focus was on the psychological and behavioral outcomes of ACEs and what children were more susceptible to them. The problem that the researchers in this study have identified is that in no prior research has anyone
After a few days after developing a rash, it may change into small lumps all over the body. These symptoms may come just after a week of being infected. "The first symptoms may appear 12 to 14 days after you're infected." A rash will appear in the mouth and throat in the first few days, it will then spread to the face and arms and finally, the legs. The rashes will grow bigger as days go by, eventually transforming into large bumps filled with puss and fluid. Then these bumps are replaced with blisters, which will drop off and that indicates that the person has become infected and can possibly spread the disease.
Children should be taught how to brush their teeth and be encouraged to have good dental hygiene to prevent cavities and any other dental problems. They should be taught about good hygiene such as hand washing to prevent germs.
I will talk about the profession pediatricians, because it is a profession that it interesting. It is said that children is a joy to work with, and hopefully being a pediatricians is as much fun as it seems. In this paper, I will look into how to become one, what their works tasks are, and the salary, and how it is to be a pediatrician.
Childhood maltreatment is defined as emotional or physical maltreatment and sexual abuse that has the potential to cause harm to a child (The relation) while childhood adversity refers to physical or emotional acts that may be potentially harmful to a child’s development (Relationship). Both have similar effects in that they have been found to increase the risk of the development of a psychotic disorder and psychotic symptoms in adults. Childhood maltreatment has been proven to increase the risk of developing depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia in adults. The studies observed in this paper will help to understand if childhood maltreatment and adversity has any effect on the social functioning of people diagnosed with psychotic disorders,
This means children receive more than one vaccination for every time they arrive at the pediatrics office. Many parents question if too many vaccinations overwhelm a child’s immune system. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), no evidence suggests that the recommended childhood vaccinations can “overload” the immune system. In contrast, when infants are born, they are exposed to bacteria and viruses. Eating food introduces new bacteria to the digestive system. Most microorganisms cause no problems. Many found in the digestive system produce life- sustaining nutrients, which are essential for good health. When infants play with toys, they are also introducing new bacteria and viruses to their body. According to Brody, when a child puts things in their mouth, they are allowing their immune system to explore the environment. Not only does this allow for practice of the immune responses, but it plays a crucial role in teaching the mature immune system response to what is best ignored. Infant immune systems easily handle weakened or killed vaccine antigens (immunization). Therefore, vaccinations are little compared to what children face every
Chicken pox is not an Entrée that is served at one’s family holiday dinner party. Chicken pox is an extremely contagious disease caused by the Varicella zoster virus. Chicken Pox is not a disease that is known to affect other animals or insects. Unlike other diseases, where human and other animal close interaction causes the exchange of virus and disease this disease did not come from a human-chicken interaction. The name chicken pox has been stuck for generations; there are many theories behind its name. Chicken pox could sneak up on its young victims in the form of an innocent touch, or by inhaling tiny particles from a cough, or sneeze which then enters the respiratory tract. Once the virus attaches itself to it gracious, and unwilling host cells it causes a crimson rash that could be located on different parts of the body. The rash is highly irritating which makes it almost impossible not scratch. In the United States each year about 5,000 to 9,000 people are hospitalized, and around 100 people die from the microbe Varicella zoster that causes chicken pox.
Child neglect is the most common form of maltreatment towards children, which may lead to various short- and long-term physical, psychological and social consequences. It is known to coincide with other forms of abuse and difficulties. Infants and toddlers are often the main victims of neglect.
The immune system is a fascinating structure it defends the body against foreign invaders like bacteria, viruses and parasites. There are two primary forms that make up the immune system they are, innate and adaptive systems. Both the innate and adaptive system plays a large role in the immune system. The innate is the primary system to defend against foreign materials and the adaptive is the secondary system that responds to specific issues.
Abuse in child can differ from physical, emotional, mental, sexual and neglect. The effects of child abuse vary between children these effects can be long lasting. Some of these problems can be psychological such as anxiety, depression, academic problems in school, withdrawn and difficulty connecting with others, and can even experience flashbacks and post-traumatic stress. They also have physical effects such as bruises, sprains, fractures, poor hygiene and inappropriate dress. Children living in an environment that is full of fear and violence develop poor coping skill some of these coping skills can be eating disorders, drug use risky sexual decision and self-harm. Some children fall into a cycle of abuse and become abusers themselves. Each child can experience one or more
