Education in today’s society is very valuable to have. Going to school is very important because it allows the generations after us to learn from our mistakes of the past and to be smart enough to live life. Millions of kids go to school in Canada and while that is a great thing for our country, school life is not easy for many kids throughout Canada, and throughout the world. So many kids are scared to set foot in a school because of bullying and harassment. There are so many things that effect kids in the twenty first century and it is important for teachers to understand how to help these kids, because a lot of the time, it is not their fault that they ended up being in the situations that they grow up in. Learning to be a teacher not only teaches you how to deal with kids, it also teaches you to be a better overall person. One huge thing I have learned so far about kids is that some kids do not have a great living situation like other kids. Some kids go days without anything to eat or any new clothes on their back, even in Canada. Growing up in a tough home is very challenging, and going to school is sometimes the only break these kids get from their tough home lives. I read an article on young men who grow up in the inner city, and how their lives are affected by it. One thing that was said in that article was “Within popular discourses too, these young men are frequently portrayed in ‘folk devil’ terms, being associated with inner-city social problems such as crime, deviance and unemployment, the causes of which have been linked to the boys’ problematic subcultures and/or class/ethnic cultures and their ‘anti-education’ masculine identities.” (Archer & Yamashita 2003, p. 115) and it was very prevailing to me. It is tough for them because they are different and they want to be just like everybody else. I went to school with a boy with autism my whole life so I understand that teachers need to be patient and a great influence. The boy I went to school with was named Brenden. He is the most admirable person you will ever meet. I watched him grow up throughout the years and he still keeps fighting everyday. I remember when I first met him and I began to understand his struggles. Brenden worked very hard throughout his whole school life to get to the point of graduation and he got to have his named called on stage at my graduation and he had a special presentation to make. After all the graduates were called he sat down on a stool on stage in front of a thousand people and he sang a very simple song while he played the guitar. I am sure everybody knows the song but the song is called “You’ve got a friend in me” and it is from the movie Toy Story. The whole auditorium was so touched and he touched everybody’s heart in that building that day. A few of my friends I grew up with had watched him grow up and keep fighting and it really hit us hard because we were the guys who were next to him his whole life. He proved to everybody that no matter what, he was going to do whatever he could do to make a difference and that is why I want to become a teacher, because I want to
He took a stand to make a difference in something he was passionate about and he urged the American people to do the same. He made the audience realize that even if this law is passed there will always be times that We the American people will also have to take a stand to do what’s right. His speech is so well written it makes it seem like the only option is to vote for the law to be passed. In a way this speech inspired me to take a stand when something wrong is happening and make a difference. Living in a time period where this was a big issue would have been hard but, I think it needed to happen to show the world that just because your skin color or religion we are all American people and we all need to work together to make this place
Over time, the debate of childcare issue within the Canadian public policy context has been raging. Rise in the media attention of the social issue of childcare policy in Canada concentrates on the relationship and coordination among the federal, provincial, and territorial governments in addressing the social issue (Finkel, 20013). According to Lewis Steven of The Star Canada News Agency, childcare is one of the priorities the Canadian Federal Government need to consider when designing its social policies. According to Lewis (2013), the Canadian Federal Government needs to consider the safety net income as an important factor contributing to affordable childcare services in the country. In Canada, parents or members of extended family have the responsibility of providing childcare services without the consideration of family net income. However, outside the family, there are many childcare providers operating as private individuals or agencies. Such childcare providers operate as private businesses.
The Educational System in Ontario, Canada has been implementing a new curriculum to ensure a successful, practical and functional early education, where children of three, four and five years old could benefit in the short term from a new early intervention educational system. This group of legislators believes that during the following four years with full day educational intervention (FDEL) will bring new changes within the old philosophy that will affect the way young children’ are leaning . (OCDE, 2006).
Many a time these kids will be found in the corner, off by themselves. They seem to be in some sort of a daydream and will be distracting classes, so the teacher has to take time to get the class under control, as well as the autistic child. The final stage occurs when they become adults, and then the signs of autism will set in. Depending on the severity of the disease, they may be able to lead a normal life, while others must be watched with close supervision. P.S.P.E. - P.S.P.E.
I am glad that there was so many young people and kids that looked up to him. They wanted to pursue their dreams just like he did and I think that’s really amazing to have so many young people in America wanting to be like you. Knowing that if they really try and put everything into something it can turn out to be something big and amazing.
2. People with autism have problems with abstract and conceptual thinking. Some may eventually acquire abstract skills, but others never will. When abstract concepts must be used, use visual cues, such as drawings or written words, to augment the abstract idea. Avoid asking vague questions such as, "Why did you do that?" Instead, say, "I did not like it when you slammed your book down when I said it was time for gym. Next time put the book down gently, and tell me that you are angry. Were you showing me that you did not want to go to gym, or that you did not want to stop reading?" Avoid asking essay-type questions. Be as concrete as possible in all your interactions with these students.
Youth from across Canada have gathered in Ottawa to finalize a Canadian Children’s Charter – a call to action to respect, protect and fulfill the rights of children.
Having worked in an Autism program first hand I can tell you these people are doing everything they can to help these kids into functioning members of society. Though some will need to be assisted their entire lives some can lead semi-normal lives. In these classrooms these programs not only focus on learning the fundamentals like all children in school (english, math, science, etc..) they also teach social skills and activities, they teach the kids things like proper etiquette in public places, safety on the phone, all the things that that isn 't 'common sense ' to them because of their disability. They work hard to help the students who are more high functioning to integrate into normal classrooms and the children who are more so low functioning to be able to do the basics and beyond for themselves. These programs are continually developing and reshaping to best fit the needs of their
The way that peers and parents interact with autistic children affects their educational and social life. Autistic children are children all the same and while some will not always show their emotions they are human and need respect and acceptance. Every interaction whether intentional or not affects the people around us in positive or negative ways. Everyone should treat children that are different the same as any other child. As a child is developing they are impressionable and therefore nearly everything they see around them will impact them in some way. Be the one that impacts the child positively.
Autism, what is it, well imagine it like a bubble. A bubble surrounding a person, an autistic person. In that bubble a person feels safe, protected, and like they are living in another world. That person doesn't want to escape the bubble, so they block themselves from the outside world and make the surface of the bubble like a barrier, a wall. But with the right tools they can pop that bubble, and escape. That's how it is in real life, an autistic person looks like they live in a completely different world, in their bubble. With help from people, family, therapists, and psychiatrists they can actually get better and improve. Only if they pop that bubble (www.youtube.com-autism:life inside a bubble).
There are many reasons people decide to enter the teaching field. Some enter because they enjoy working with people or children, others because they like being off during the summer months, and still others because of their love for a particular subject. Although all these reasons are valid, I feel my reasons are much simpler. The bottom line is that I love kids and enjoy working with them. My desire to make learning a more positive experience for them has only increased with time.
In today’s world, youths across the globe are facing more pressures than ever before and one of these groups in particular are the Aboriginal people in Canada. So what are Aboriginal people? Are they Indian people or Inuit people? Wikipedia introduces a common understanding, they are a unique group consists of the Inuit, Metis and Indian people in Canada, and they are known as “Aboriginals”. Additionally, as an illustration of stressed youths, Inukjauk Island, isolated from other Canadian modern places, has declared that a growing number of Aboriginal youths were committed suicide.
As an education major at State College, I’ve decided to become a teacher for several reasons. As I progressed through elementary, middle, and high school, many of my teachers were great role models for me. This has inspired me to become a role model for someone in the near future. My love for science and math has also influenced my desire to teach and make a difference in a child’s life. I want to teach students the subjects that I love so much. I want the feeling that I helped a child accomplish or learn something they couldn’t understand. One of the main reasons I want to become an educator is because I feel education has really lost teachers who truly love teaching and those who truly love teaching and those who have the desire to make a difference. I feel I can really help make a difference in the education world and bring back the love to teach.
Many people on this earth grow up saying they would like to make a difference in this world. However, half of those people do not feel like putting in the work in order to do so. As an elementary education major, making a difference is one of the main goals. There are many benefits of becoming a teacher, and students benefit as well. In order to have many students successfully graduate from one grade to the next a teacher should be willing to put in as much work that is needed. Elementary school is where children are set up for the rest of their education. It is important to understand how to go into this career field, becoming a teacher has its own benefits, and the children are able to benefit from teachers.
I have decided to become a teacher because I love children. I enjoy watching them grow, and I want to make a difference in the lives of my students. As a teacher, I will do everything that I can to ensure that each becomes a productive, successful citizen in life. In order for me to obtain this goal, I will create a loving, positive, respectful, and safe learning environment where each student will be treated equally and be encouraged to do his or her best. Keeping this in mind, there are four elements that I must remember which includes (1) how young children develop, (2) what they should know and be able to do, (3) instructional strategies that I have learned, and (4) my feelings regarding parent involvement.
