In today’s world, youths across the globe are facing more pressures than ever before and one of these groups in particular are the Aboriginal people in Canada. So what are Aboriginal people? Are they Indian people or Inuit people? Wikipedia introduces a common understanding, they are a unique group consists of the Inuit, Metis and Indian people in Canada, and they are known as “Aboriginals”. Additionally, as an illustration of stressed youths, Inukjauk Island, isolated from other Canadian modern places, has declared that a growing number of Aboriginal youths were committed suicide. This essay will mainly develop three main issues including poverty, less education and criminal justice that Aboriginal youths are facing, and explain why this is a to concern for the Canadian society and that these issues need to be addressed. Poverty is the main factor that able to tie other factors together. In 1995, 55.6% of Aboriginal people living in cities were under threaten of poverty on average (Ontario Fed. Of Indian Friendship Centres). Canadian Council of Provincial Child and Youth Advocates (2010) recommend the nation creating a statutory, taking investigation and participation initiatives, and holding special conferences for national children and youth, in particular Aboriginal children and youth. The statutory takes responsibility to pay attention policies such as fighting for rights of children and youth, or voting for legal protection improvement initiatives and legal punishment to those victims whom had violence or other criminal actions to children and youth, or working hard for more money support from the national financial department or the society. Then national investigational initiatives are made to collect the information and data of “welfares, education and health outcomes” of children and youths, therefore, the nation or related departments and associations could adopt initiatives to help children and youth to get their welfare benefits, education rights and health insurances, for example, some children or youth work for money instead of attending schools, then their schools and teachers could arrange callings or visiting to come over for help, according to the investigation reports.
