In many countries, especially in Africa, there are child soldiers. Some do volunteer, but most are forced into the military. These child soldiers kill lots of civilians, and commit oodles of war crimes. The population that carries out these abhorrent and petrifying acts should be given amnesty. This is because most of the soldiers had no choice. They were forced into it. Some say that these soldiers should not be given amnesty of any kind. This is because they did kill lots of people. However, they don’t realize that these children are brainwashed, and are given loads of drugs. These children need amnesty.
Many of these child soldiers had no choice but to join the military or die. They were forced into it. If they didn’t do what the militants
told them to, they would be shot. Their villages were destroyed. Then, the people that destroyed their homes would capture them and make them fight. An article called Armed and Underaged said that this was said by a military commander from Chad: “Child soldiers are ideal. They don’t complain, they don’t expect to be paid- and if you tell them to kill, they kill” It also mentioned that that in Colombia, about 8,000 kids are fighting in a war. So, these children that are fighting in the military had no other real choice. Some say that these kids should not be granted any amnesty of any kind. They claim this because they say that they did have a choice. They could choose to die. But, that is not a real choice. Some of the children did volunteer, to willingly fight in the army. However, they probably didn’t think about their choice carefully. They really didn’t have a choice. Another reason that child soldiers should get amnesty is because they are brainwashed. They are forced to watch extremely violent like Rambo: First Blood. They are then brainwashed. This makes the children willing to kill. Thus, mass murders of civilians occur. They are brainwashed so heavily that it’s technically not them. These children need amnesty. This is because they had no choice. They had to kill or die. Some say that they don’t need amnesty. But they had no choice whether or not they liked it. They are also brainwashed. As well as this, they are given heavy drugs. They need amnesty for their appalling crimes.
There is no exact known number of children currently being utilised in warfare worldwide. The issue of the military use of children is so widespread that no figure can be calculated, although it is estimated that there are currently over 250,000 child soldiers across the world. Many are drugged and brainwashed into murder, many are forced to sever all ties with their family or watch them die. Most are faced with a simple choice: kill or be killed. Although the notion of child soldiers is vastly alien to contemporary Australian society, it is a reality in many parts of the world. ISIS have been known to employ the use of children in warfare and over 30,000 children have been abducted into the Lord’s Resistance Army for military purposes. It
Many kids are involved around the world in violent wars as child soldiers. These children who were forced into being soldiers had no other choice but to face their own death and therefore should be granted amnesty. This is because the great majority of the kids were forced into being war fighters. Even then, some people think that just because they’re kids doesn’t change the fact that they have performed horrible acts, and that they should be punished for their actions. Also, these kids were forced to take drugs and drink alcohol which influenced bad decisions and made them less thoughtful about the harm they were doing. So, child soldiers should get another chance and be granted amnesty after proven worthy.
One of the major problems in the Middle East is child related. To be specific, child soldiers. It is estimated that there are over 38,000 kids who are forced into being child soldiers (Storr). Because child soldiers can’t prevent their horrific fate, they deserve to be granted amnesty by the United Nations. One main reason why they should be given amnesty is because they are forced and drugged into becoming killers.
Children have been used as soldiers in many events, however two that stand out are the use of child soldiers in the Sierra Leone civil war and the drug cartels in Mexico. Most people agree that forcing children to be soldiers is wrong and not humane. The people that make them soldiers transform them into belligerent beings by force. Child soldiers of drug cartels and the armies of Sierra Leone were threatened with their lives if they didn’t become soldiers. The lives of these child soldiers are lives that nobody should live. Situations in both countries are horrible because of the high number of youngsters that are forced to take part in drug use and are transformed into extremely belligerent and inhumane people; in addition they are deprived

When children are kidnapped and torn away from their families to fight for something they know little about, violence can be justifed. In the book A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of A Boy Soldier, Ishmeal was forced to,”become the very thing he feared,” and he also tells us that the military,”brainwashed [them]..” and that the boy soldiers had become,”...addicted to cocaine, marijuana, and “brown-brown.” The abuse that Ishmeal and his fellow boy soldiers endured should not happen to anyone. Fighting back against a terroristic regime should be the standard because no child should have to endure that type of
Child soldier is a worldwide issue, but it became most critical in the Africa. Child soldiers are any children under the age of 18 who are recruited by some rebel groups and used as fighters, cooks, messengers, human shields and suicide bombers, some of them even under the aged 10 when they are forced to serve. Physically vulnerable and easily intimidated, children typically make obedient soldiers. Most of them are abducted or recruited by force, and often compelled to follow orders under threat of death. As society breaks down during conflict, leaving children no access to school, driving them from their homes, or separating them from family members, many children feel that rebel groups become their best chance for survival. Others seek escape from poverty or join military forces to avenge family members who have been killed by the war. Sometimes they even forced to commit atrocities against their own family (britjob p 4 ). The horrible and tragic fate of many unfortunate children is set on path of war murders and suffering, more nations should help to prevent these tragedies and to help stop the suffering of these poor, unfortunate an innocent children.
“Compelled to become instruments of war, to kill and be killed, child soldiers are forced to give violent expression to the hatreds of adults” (“Child Soldiers” 1). This quotation by Olara Otunnu explains that children are forced into becoming weapons of war. Children under 18 years old are being recruited into the army because of poverty issues, multiple economic problems, and the qualities of children, however, many organizations are trying to implement ways to stop the human rights violation.
“I would like to give you a message, please do your best to tell the world what is happening to us, the children. So that other children do not have to pass through this violence.”
The mental illness most commonly associated with war veterans is post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. PTSD is an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to a traumatic event. Events that may trigger PTSD include: violent personal assault, accidents, natural disasters, and military combat (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Among Adults). An individual experiencing PTSD shows symptoms of having flash-backs and frightening thoughts, avoiding places linked to the event, emotional numbness, strong guilt, difficulty sleeping, and being easily startled (PTSD). The widespread implication of these symptoms shows that having this disorder makes living a normal life and participating in everyday social situations a difficult task. The wars
For decades, there has been constant conflict on whether or not children should be used in war or battle. Millions of children have been forced into fighting for militaries. The question is, should child soldiers be given amnesty? “Children are forced by commanders through false promises, drugs and things which you can’t even imagine, to kill innocent civilians, other children, and even their own families.” This quote from Child Soldiers helps give a good idea of what these children are being put through and what they are being forced to achieve.
Not only were child soldiers deprived of a normal childhood but they were also unwillingly forced to destroy the lives of many innocents such as themselves. This is shown in an article about teens and their age limits, her a 16 year old soldier argues and fights back to her commander about how she shouldn't be forced to join the army because she is underage. She says, “‘If you’re under sixteen you can’t join the army, so you must say you’re twenty.’ I said ‘I’m sixteen’ and I said I wanted to put my real age, but the sergeant said, ‘You can’t.’ I said, ‘Then maybe I won’t join the army,’ but he said, ‘You have no choice.
This is because the leaders of major rebel fighting groups know that child soldiers do not get prosecuted. With this information they not only “recruit” new child soldiers, but they send the existing child soldiers into the more violent situations (Suivre.). We could reduce the number of occurrences of situations like this by persecuting the child soldiers.
...rthermore, to fight in a way is fundamentally inhuman. As humans, we are thinking animals and we should be able to tell from right and wrong. Since these soldiers have decided to join the war, they are not human at all.
Child Soldiers: The use of children in the military. Child Soldiers have three different roles in armed conflict. They can take a direct part in hostilities, or they can be used for support, such as sexual slaves, lookouts, messengers, and spies. Also, they can be used in the political aspect of war. Because many children have been physically or mentally damaged by their participation in armed conflict, children should not have any involvement in any armed conflict and should be removed indefinitely from warfare. Every child has the right to go to school, free from violence. Children have been used in the military for hundreds of years.
