Responsibility, and personal influences can all contribute to what is classified as a good citizen. However, none of these characteristics can be put to use unless one is first taught the value of respect. Respect is a deep admiration for someone or something based off of his or her abilities, qualities, or achievements. One must learn respect to give respect. A child should be exposed to this attribute within the earlier stages of their childhood. Children tend to understand these morals and values when it is something that is introduced to them at a very young age; when they grow up it is something already engraved in them. Having understood the value of respect will undoubtedly guarantee the opening of many doors and give a child a different outlook on life in general. Respect is a mindset. Success cannot completely be fulfilled if a child does not learn to respect themselves, their elders, and their peers. A child should know the difference between the relationships with authority and the relationship with their peers. A conversation between children to children is completely different from a conversation between children to teacher. Morals and values let a child …show more content…
Learning self- respect is guided by how a mature child views his or her own self. My child will truly understand his or her value before their values get taken advantage of or taken away. Teaching my child self respect will help them understand how to carry his or her self in any type of setting. This concept may also be thought of as ones morals and beliefs bestowed in their children. It is important for a child to learn this concept within the home so that they know how to handle themselves out in the real world. I will teach my child to be able to accept themselves, flaws and all, so that they may be able to take on the world as humble and knowledgeable as they can
Respect is a such a simple concept and a virtue that should be simple to follow. It means treating other people and animals in a dignified manner. Respect doesn’t mean that people need to hug everyone they come across or hold their opinion higher than everyone elses. Respect means treating others as equals and acknowledging that as human
Proper respect for others begins by a person respecting their self. Respect is developed by expressing honor, leadership, value, and trust in a person. If everyone respects everyone someday, the world will become a seventh heaven. It is important to be respectful for safety, to abide by the law, because children are influenced by their elders’ actions, and because God says so. Motivation from peers can help a person realize there is always room to improve the level of respect a person exhibits. Respect was, is, and always will be a positive attribute for everyone to strive for in their lives.
Respect to me is admiring someone for their abilities, qualities, or achievements. I think respect is always earned an can never be given. As soldiers soldiers we should always respect our peers because they have made the same sacrifice as us. But as soldiers we should have a higher level of respect for our NCOs because they have done their time an have earned it. Being respectful is not hard it is simple, just treat others the way we would like to be treated ourselves.
when it comes to respect you must at all times have equal respect and concern for the children and
When I think of what respect means to me, my definition is: listening and being mindful of what someone is saying or doing. The dictionary on Google has respect listed as: “admire (someone or something) deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements” (Google). I have never associated with respect with admiring someone’s abilities, qualities, yet along their achievements. The two different mothers in the stories view respect differently as well.
Respect is important; however the most influential values I learned were kindness and the power of knowledge. As a kid, I was taught to work hard and have fun later; we were not allowed to leave the house to party or go out unless we had all our homework done. This meant learning to think critically and efficiently in order to do great work in a small amount of time. My parents dropped out of college so that they could give my sisters and I opportunities they didn't have, for this reason I have learned the value of har...
Young children have active imaginations and need time to express themselves whether it is through their words, their actions, or through fun and games. However, more often than not adults deprive children of the opportunity to do so. They are hurt in the process and grow to treat others the way they have been treated; poorly. In Anton Chekhov’s “A Trifle from Life” the mother’s boyfriend takes advantage of and disrespects a young boy named Alyosha when Alyosha tells a story to him. Similarly, in Margaret Atwood’s poem “Dutiful”, the protagonist reflects on her childhood and how the adults always control her. Adults often overlook children because they care more for themselves
In three seperate dictionaries, respect is defined as a regard for or appreciation of the worth or value of someone or something. In my opinion, respect goes far beyond this definition. Respect is the cornerstone of the society in which we live. Although many look at respect as simply treating another person or thing with kindness, this word has many different aspects. For instance, I would not give an elder the same type of respect that I would give my peers or myself. Respect is not considered a neccessity in this world but, I can’t imagine a person getting very far in life without this virtue.
Respect is a very powerful word it can be given and also taken. So many people really don’t know the definition because they don’t have any for their self. Maybe because they were never taught the word or the meaning. There are rules and meanings to the word Respect.
Many values have been lost because some children don’t respect their parents, teachers, and other kind of authorities. This mostly has to do with the wrong way they are being raised. Instead of having time outs , I
teach them, while others believe that a child is born with a set of values. In
Once I grow older, and have children, I hope to teach them the same lessons that I learned when I was a kid.
School, in essence, functions as a ladder to the future. The farther up the ladder a person goes, the more prepared for real life he will find himself. Respect is one of the keys to getting up the ladder and succeeding in many aspects of life. I grew up respecting my elders: whether it was my grandparents or the librarian, I have always had respect. The regard I have developed for teachers has come from knowing that I will need their help to make it through school and I can only get it by being respectful and polite.
Respect is showing love, when you love someone you protect them from hurt. It gives comfort to the heart to be with someone who respects you. I gained confidence through being faithful to my marriage and putting my focus on one family. A husband and wife should build each other up, not tear each other down. I have come to believe and stand by the word of God in my marriage and not a day goes by that I do not appreciate my children and especially my wife for treating me as a man I have grown to be.
On the contrary of these individuals, Slater (2008) declares that “there is always a desire to separate the teaching of values from the teaching of reading, writing, and mathematics, the so-called value neutral subjects. But we have learned, and every parent who has done homework with his child knows, that like it or not, we teach values in the course of teaching these subjects.” Believe or not, when parents send their children to school, they think that their kids are only going to learn the traditional school subjects such as mathematics or science, but the truth is that in every aspect of school; students are going to learn in a way social values. Parents need to reflection and understand about this situation. They have to comprehend that the goal of teaching values in schools is to protect our children for future situations that can have an emotional impact their life. By teaching social values in schools, teachers not only educate our children how to think and solve problems, they also inform children’s beliefs about what is right, good, and important in life, sharping their values in the
