Auto education is a natural ability that people absorb knowledge and practical skills, it's controlled by the brain. Each person individually makes the neurological connections that from new knowledge. Direct connection with the environment and through the manipulation/handling of the environment the child makes neurological connections, and form concepts about the world. For example, in the object to picture matching activity, the child observing the colors, shapes, and fruits, flowers in the picture to name the objects. Sensitive period is a period of when the child is most receptive to take in the information from his environment. Personal experience and can help them easily get involved with the environment. Sensitive periods mostly occurred from the time of birth to …show more content…
It is also aids the child’s independence, self- esteem, and self-discipline. Like in the moveable alphabet short vowel sound presentation, the letters to represent the picture do not make the sounds of the picture represented, the letter “dog” does not make the sound “a”. Observation is a majority duty of the teacher. There are the ground rules that the teacher should observe while the child using materials to do the experiment. The child will develop their will when the ground rules executed. The teacher observes for the forms of order during the child’s behavior occurs. The respectful communication from child-to-child, child-to-materials, and child-to-adult also should be observed by the teacher. The teacher makes changes of variety and extend of the materials is through the observation of children’s need. For example, when the teacher observes a child doing sentence labels consonant blend with picture presentation, if the child reads the sentence and matches with the picture quickly, then the teacher can make it more challenging by letting the child to write it down the sentence on
For less than two hours, I observed the grandson of a visitor at my aunt’s home.
In conducting an in class observation of Sebastian’s classroom behavior it was seen that he interacts very well with other boys his when there is unstructured free play. Sebastian engages other boys in role play with trucks, blocks, and toy animals in building a zoo. He display skills in problem solving when dealing with the challenge of a shortage of Tigers for the zoo. Sebastian showed ability to focus on task when they are high in engagement and hands on activities. The area concern that was observed with Sebastian are in transition times and structured curriculum times. It was observed that Sebastian had a very difficult time during structured curriculum time being still and keeping his hands to himself. Often time Sebastan would interrupt the teacher, grab items fro...
When and how does the child cooperate with other children, does she share, take turns, negotiate or help the other child with tasks?
This is based on the cognitive and social behaviours that must be learnt during the optimal time. If it is not learnt during this period, theorists conclude that the skill cannot be acquired later on. Boundaries of learning time periods are less defined in the sensitive period for development can still occur later. The sensitive period acknowledges that learning is supposed to occur during the critical period, but as the body is plastic, it can still happen. The critical and sensitive periods is significant to the field of child development because both sensitive and critical terms acknowledge that that learning occurs at a particular time. This allows the teacher to focuses on practices that encourage the learning of the child during the critical period and if the skill is not learnt, it can still develop
Another rather consistent observation I saw was the indication that most children used their parent as a secure base. A secure base is provided through a relationship that harbors one or more responsive caregivers who meets the child’s needs and to whom the child can turn to as a safe haven, when upset or distraught. This relationship can be seen in many of the observations I made. The one that stands out the most and that clearly depicts how a child uses a secure base is Susy. Susy used her parents as secure base when she was frightened by the boy that was older than her and whom she didn’t know. She ran to her parents for protection and comfort from the stranger. Another clear depiction of a secure base was when Susy demonstrated separation
The infant that was observed for the purposes of this essay was Phoebe, a two-month old girl, born via cesarean section at thirty-eight weeks of gestation to interracial parents. She was observed in her own home, in normal behavior and interactions between her and her mother. The observation was separated into two different one hour sessions.
The child I observed was a seven-year-old girl in Year 2 who sat on the second highest ability table in a mixed class. While not in school, she lived a substantial distance away meaning she travelled to and from school by car and was often the first child to arrive in the morning and the last to leave in the afternoon. I will focus on the social and emotional development of this child who, from now onwards, will be referred to as C.
The child I observed is Lucy, she is three years old, weighs about 30 lbs, and is 35.5 inches tall. Lucy is white, has blonde hair and blue eyes. In her usual household Lucy lives with her mother, father, older brother and older sister. Due to some flooding in the basement, the family had to temporarily move out of their home and into the father’s parents’ house. At the time of the observation the members in the house hold consisted of Lucy, her brother, sister, mother, father and paternal grandmother and grandfather.
For 12 weeks I observed a young pre-schooler Child C aged 31/2 years old, through my account I would give an observer’s view of Child C, three theories peculiar to Child C and my the emotions evoked in me as an observer. My observation assisted in my understanding of the changes in Child C as the week progressed over the 12 weeks.
The child I observed was born on February 21st, so the baby that I observed is just weeks old. The baby is white and a male. The baby is a friend’s child and I observed him in the living room of their home and in his personal bedroom while he was in his crib. There was two couches in the living room, a television, two end tables, and a big sectional rug which was where the child was most of the time. There was 4 adults. The mom, the dad, my mom, and I. There were no other children in the house at this time.
The location of the observation was at the Community Center (Early Childhood education program) at 11:00am to 12:30pm on April 15, 2014. The meaningful experiences in early childhood education can positively shape children's development. With a teacher is guidance authentic child-art activity can educate enrich young students' learning abilities, encourage positive attitudes toward other children, and more importantly, learn to interact with people around them in the contemporary world. However, art for young students often takes many diversified approaches and emphasizing questionable practices. Observation is a part of meaningful and authentic early childhood art education. Observation enriches children’s experiences in their environment, gives them motivation to study, interact with other children and follow the practices of their adult models. Moreover, they develop strategies and skills to represent objects in their environment.
Observation is important as the practitioner can find out what the child is interested in and what motivates them to learn alongside their progress and how they behave in certain situations, additionally at the same time it identifies if children need assistance within certain areas of learning or socially (DCSF, 2008). Furthermore the observations check that the child is safe, contented, healthy and developing normally within the classroom or early years setting, over time the observations can be given to parents as they show a record of progress which helps to settle the parent and feel more comfortable about their child’s education. Observations are not only constructive within learning about an individual child, they can be used to see how different groups of children behave in the same situation and how adults communicate and deal with children’s behaviour (Meggitt and Walker, 2004). Overall observations should always look at the positives of what children can complete within education and not look at the negatives and all observations should become a fundamental part of all practitioners work alongside reflection (Smidt, 2009).
I arrived at the Children's Center at eight in the morning on Wednesday, with a warm welcome by the teacher. The preschool room two was filled with the morning sun and assisted with dim lighting. The room was divided with shelf for multiple areas. Most of the room is carpet but under the art area and entrance had lanolin flooring.
Observation, combined with anecdotal records, is essential, especially in the early grades. By observing and keeping track of these observations, teachers are able to tell a lot about their students. For example, they can see how they interact socially with other peers as well as how well they carry out a given task. I am inclined to be an early elementary teacher, in grades K-3. The first years of school are my ideal age group. The early childhood stage is a time when children develop the most. They are developi...
There are slow learners as well as a mixture of fast learners in every classroom. These should be taken into consider and activities should be planned accordingly so that slow learners will not left behind and fast learners will not be bored. There are students with learning difficulties which will affect the teaching learning process. These should be taken into consider and teachers need to avoid things happening which as an effect in the teaching learning process. Behavior such as disruptive and destructive shows similar characteristics. These behaviors need to be discussed with the parents and necessary actions need to be taken to create a good atmosphere in the class. Also teachers will be able to identify different cognitive levels and learning styles. Some students learn through audio, some need to see visually while some of them learn by writing. So as teachers we need to have all these learning styles in a lesson to fulfill each individual. Planning should be done accurately which helps in the teaching learning process. Teachers play a great role in handling different children in the classroom. To build up an effective teaching process, these facts need to be taken into consideration. Teachers could think of different ways that they can implement in the classroom in the process of teaching and learning. Group method is one of the main teaching
