I arrived at the Children's Center at eight in the morning on Wednesday, with a warm welcome by the teacher. The preschool room two was filled with the morning sun and assisted with dim lighting. The room was divided with shelf for multiple areas. Most of the room is carpet but under the art area and entrance had lanolin flooring. The room had a dramatic play area with dress up clothes and a plastic kitchen. The reading corner had a large fluffy seat and a quiet area to have alone time. The building or block area had a variety of sizes of blocks. The rooms walls were filled with pictures of the children, a calendar, and inviting happy pictures. The chairs and table were to children's size with legos to play with. They had fish and rocks …show more content…
He was building a tower with the lab student and said “let's start with the small ones then use the big ones” the lab student said “that's a great way to start”. The teacher was cutting out shapes and asked the boy “what shape is this” the boy replied “a heart” the teacher next ask “what other shape should I cut out” he replied a triangle”. At about eight fifty my child arrived Julia. Julia walked in so excited to share her pretty white dress with a fluffy sweat with a cat on it. She began playing in the dramatic play area and pretended to pour water into cups. Other children began to arrive and the teacher brought out a new item to add to the dress up stuff. She presented talis that clipped to their clothes, so each child picked one and began walking around the room acting like dinosaurs. The teacher asked “who wants to go outside” Then all of the children became excited and went to the door. Going outside I could see a patio area with many activities to explore on it. Past the gate was a enormous covered sandbox with trucks, buckets, cups, and a water spot. Just past that was a play structure with bark under it. It had slides and rings to play on. Further into the yard was a huge grass area with cement around it for riding tricycles. The furthest part of the yard had swings and a outdoor kitchen. Julia ran around the yard playing by herself but
"The bunk house was a long, rectangular building. Inside, the walls were whitewashed and the floor unpainted. In three walls there were small square windows, and in the fourth, a solid door with a wooden latch. Against the walls were eight bunks, five of them made up with blankets and the other three showing burlap ticking..." (17)
The Child Development Center of College of San Mateo provides early care and educational programs for children between the ages of 3 to 5 years old. Children are divided into classrooms with a “master” teacher, a “regular” teacher, and two or three “associate” teachers. Klara attended Classroom, “A,” a stimulating and well-resourced classroom. Klara was observed for two hours on Monday from 9 am to 11 am and for two hours on Wednesday from 9 am to 11 am. During these two hours, classroom activities consisted of “free time,” “story time,” and an outside “play time.” A “master” teacher, a “regular” teacher, and two “associate” teachers were present during observations. Additionally, a total of eighteen children were in attendance during the observed days.
While at school August had many chances to go on intriguing adventures, some he was interested in and some he didn’t seem too excited about. At the end of the year the entire 5th grade went on a field
For less than two hours, I observed the grandson of a visitor at my aunt’s home.
Home of the infants, this is where they lived for the first 5 years of their lives. “The sleeping halls walls were white and clean and bare of all things save one hundred beds (Rand,20).” So the building was very plain and didn’t have like any toys or and diversity.
When and how does the child cooperate with other children, does she share, take turns, negotiate or help the other child with tasks?
The infant that was observed for the purposes of this essay was Phoebe, a two-month old girl, born via cesarean section at thirty-eight weeks of gestation to interracial parents. She was observed in her own home, in normal behavior and interactions between her and her mother. The observation was separated into two different one hour sessions.
There are primarily three developmental class levels within the center. Each developmental level has two to three classrooms. The first level is the infant room where children range from six weeks old to 18 months old. At this age children learn best through play and most interact well together. While in this stage they eat and sleep on request and each infant is kept to their own schedule that best suits the parents and child, where in the rooms that precede this all the children are primarily on the classroom schedule. Once the infant turns 18 months old they move onto the next level of class which is the toddler room. The toddler classrooms accommodate toddlers from 18 months to three years old. In the toddler classroom is where we start to see children struggling. Many kids in the class are already stating their colors,...
This paper will explore my findings of my observation of a young boy, age 28 months, named Jax. Jax is fun little man and happens to be my nephew. I will discuss the attributes and characteristics of Jax that I witnessed in the few hours that I had observed him. Starting with motor development skills, I observed that Jax is a very favorable walker. He is well coordinated, and loves to run. Still, just like any two-year-old, he still stumbles frequently. He loves to play with his toys and can pick up and grasp his toys well. He is great at maneuvering his toys and putting them where he wants them. I did notice that he did favor his right hand regularly. Jax did love to throw things, and catch them as well. However, he seemed to be a bit better at catching things, more so than he was at throwing
Every time someone in her class said a color she would turn that color and they would all laugh at her. Camilla's teacher called her mom and asked if Camilla can go home because she was a distraction to her peers. Camilla went home and cried.
For 12 weeks I observed a young pre-schooler Child C aged 31/2 years old, through my account I would give an observer’s view of Child C, three theories peculiar to Child C and my the emotions evoked in me as an observer. My observation assisted in my understanding of the changes in Child C as the week progressed over the 12 weeks.
The child I observed was born on February 21st, so the baby that I observed is just weeks old. The baby is white and a male. The baby is a friend’s child and I observed him in the living room of their home and in his personal bedroom while he was in his crib. There was two couches in the living room, a television, two end tables, and a big sectional rug which was where the child was most of the time. There was 4 adults. The mom, the dad, my mom, and I. There were no other children in the house at this time.
I observed at St. Eve’s Learning Center location in their preschool room. The center has a naturalistic feel to the environment and all of the staff is friendly and welcoming. The classroom displayed best practices, modern theories and research, and followed expected standards set by their accreditations.
In choosing participants to interview for this project, I decided to seek individuals who I have already bonded with, so that the participants would be comfortable answering my interview questions and also provide feedback with less hesitation. Therefore, I chose to select my five year old sister Grace, my eight year old brother Aiden, and my eighteen year old boyfriend Dean. Aiden and Grace are both Caucasian children who live in a middle class household with their mom, dad, and dog Piper. With my dad and step-mom’s permission, I interviewed both Aiden and Grace separately over Skype. I interviewed Aiden with both my dad and step-mom present while Grace was in another room and used the same format when interviewing Grace.
I would like to put up children’s art on the walls. This will boost up the children’s self-esteem. And by creating a cozy reading corner for six year olds, this will encourage the children to read more.
