Child Hunger in Third World Countries

Currently, “one out of every nine inhabitants of the planet suffer from chronic hunger and millions of people die from this cause (FAO, 2015)” (Figueroa 72). There are children all over this world who go with only one meal per day, maybe even less. Imagine not having food provided, only eating a small portion of rice to eat through the day, or going days at a time without having food at all. This is the reality for some growing and developing children. While some work is being done, not many improvements are actually showing through, addressing the problem of child hunger because there is some volunteer work, but not near enough for the surplus of needs. This has been a problem for too long that needs a quick solution. In 2015 the United States was taking actions to attempt and help the global problem. Malnutrition remains a serious problem to child survival, growth, and development in underdeveloped countries” (Kluwer, 104). Malnutrition is defined as a “lack of proper nutrition, caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of the right things, or being unable to use the food that one does eat.” In many third world countries, children do not have access to the proper nutrients that are necessary for them to grow and develop properly.
