Introduction What is abuse? Abuse can be considered as emotional, physical, or sexual violence against another person. The United States has the worst child abuse and neglect records in the world. “Children may be subject to a variety of abuse, neglect and maltreatment. It can occur within families, by adults or older children, in the community, by gangs or in an institutional setting. The majority of abuse is by someone known to the child” (Hunt, 7). A child abuse prevention program can help bring awareness to the topic. This prevention program can help the people in the community find alternative ways to discipline their children and identify child abuse. It will also help by providing support groups to people in the community, who may have …show more content…
I would encourage that they join the parenting courses so they could learn different techniques to discipline their child, and ways to cope if their child were abused. I would encourage the parents to join the program by expressing that majority of children are abused by people they know, and stress that this is an epidemic, so it is best to know the signs. After stating facts, I would appeal to their emotions and love of their child; our future generation by saying you can help prevent child abuse in this community and all over by knowing the signs and helping children, who are in distress.
Engage Stakeholders
My stakeholders would consist of community members, social workers at child protective services and the local board members. I have carefully chosen this group as stakeholders due to their knowledge in child abuse and their desire to help prevent child abuse.
The child abuse prevention program’s primary stakeholder is the community members. The community members are the people in the community, who are directly being affected by this program. The community members would play a major role in the child abuse prevention program. The members knows the resources the community needs, as well as the community’s reaction to the program. The members would

These stakeholder will be indirectly affected by the program. However, the social workers at child protective services want to prevent and educate others on child abuse. Child protective services social workers are important to the prevention program as well. They were chosen as stakeholders due their extensive knowledge of child abuse in that particular community. The social workers can refer the prevention program to some people in the community, who are mandated to attend preventive services.
The prevention program’s key stakeholder the local board members. This stakeholder may belong to both or neither groups of stake holders listed prior. The local board members wield a lot of power in the community, due to their influence and option to encourage change in the community. The local board members are important to this project because they can assure the community that the program is not going to change the community. However, the program will bring child abuse awareness and prevention to the community.
Create a Shared Vision and
Perspective Stakeholders in health and social care can be referred to a person, group or organization that has interest or concern in an organization. Stakeholders can affect or be affected by the organizations actions, objectives, and policies. Some examples of key stakeholders in health and social care are inspecting bodies, managers, employers, government and its agencies, owners of care services, owners of local businesses, suppliers, trade unions, service users, and the community which the organization serves. For example, a local health and well-being strategy may be developed by;
“The Signs of Safety approach is a relationship-grounded, safety-organized child protection framework designed to help families build real safety for children by allowing those families to demonstrate their strengths as protection over time. This strengths-based and safety-organized approach to child protection work requires partnership and collaboration with the child and family. It expands the investigation of risk to encompass strengths and signs of safety that can be built upon to stabilize and strengthen the child’s and family’s situation. Central to this approach is meaningful family engagement and, in particular, capturing the voice of the child” (http://www.cebc4cw.org/program/signs-of-safety/detailed). Because this approach proposes a framework for child welfare it offers broad applicability to the areas of juvenile justice, foster care and adoption. If one looks at the principles of this approach across all child welfare settings it is evident that they can be used as a map for assessing and planning, building constructive relationships, and improving communication.
Within my organization there are many different stakeholders. It is crucial to first understand what a stakeholder means. A stakeholder is a person who has something to gain or lose through the outcome of planning process. Within healthcare there are three types of stakeholders, those who receive health care, those who give health care, and those who manage the financial aspects of health care. Health care organizations do not face just one or a few stakeholders they hold many. Healthcare executives must learn to manage a portfolio of stakeholder relationships.
Identifying stakeholders for an intervention is essential. Stakeholders are all of the individuals who are affected by and issue or problem (BOOK). The stakeholders are going to be the individuals who can work towards changing the problem and who deal with the concern at the front lines (BOOK).
Life in the United States has been difficult for many children. Statistically speaking, there are four children who are killed by abuse each day (Allyn & Bacon, 2011). With numbers increasing over the years change is something that is starting to take place. There are many things that will affect the child welfare system in the future, such as the economic policies, political views, and the current policies set in place (child welfare information). The reason for the child welfare system is to help the children who are getting abused. In the past, there was not a policy set in place; however, this is beginning to change. One of the systems that have been set in place is the Children’s Bureau, an organization that does studies on the mental health of abused children (Thomas, 2012). Although this organization has no authority to develop federal regulations, they are one of the largest agency leaders in child welfare (Thomas, 2012). There are many problems with the economy and government that make it hard to maintain the child welfare system.
...Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), currently enrolls more than 640,000 students through out the county (Dauter, Fuller, 2016). Promoting a culture of prevention aim at educating youth, should incorporate policy advocacy interventions that can be embedded and take root within one of the largest school district in the country. It would be within a social worker’s scope of practice to adopt an integrated, ecological framework for understanding the origins of gender-based violence (Heise, Lori1998) .It would be fitting and corresponding for social workers at all levels to allocate a strategy for social change aim at violence prevention (Futures Without Violence, 2016). By working hand in hand with LAUSD, social workers can provide a universal prevention approached that addresses domestic violence while urging community participation, primarily high school seniors.
...s between those who are “at risk” with teachers, pastors, and officers of the law. The construction of the bond is essential. The neighborhoods youth understanding their teachers, principles, and law enforcement officials have their best interests at heart, allows for these individuals to recognize they can accomplish any goal they set. Once a foundation, is built amongst the schools, city officials can address other areas of concern in these neighborhoods. For example, establishing a “community development plan” with local residents to earn an income while demolishing abandoned buildings within these communities. Providing developmental land for these neighborhood. Each step is necessary, however without a solid foundation with emphasis on youth and education, areas such as these will continue to witness large amounts of crime and the depletion of their community.
Child abuse in the United States is a growing epidemic. Every year the number of reported cases, and missing children go up. This is caused mostly by lack of education about the different types of child abuse, and the signs that go along with it. Communities need to provide more resources to better educate the public about the types of abuse, and the signs that go along with it. Child abuse and neglect can be lessened by more resources, more education and to reach out to others.
...ces. In this project, local advocates and volunteers work in collaboration with schools, churches and community organizations providing educational presentations on the effects of domestic violence on children. Parents also learn non-violent parenting skills, enabling them to deal with their children effectively. They also provide a 24-hour crisis line, a place to sleep, clothing, food, medical treatment referrals, and assistance with reporting crimes to police and prosecutors. This program has helped reduce the crime, and strengthen the children?s self-esteem through community service. Relationship building is a prime focus, and they learn how to create healthy relationship with others. We still have a long way to go in the future. Activists must continue to promote public awareness of domestic violence, and help to make this country a better place to live.
We will never get rid of predators, and there will always be abusive parents. Social workers, church leaders, school principals, and district officials may be following rules designed to serve adults and guard institutions, but they should have tuned into more basic instincts and protected children. If they would have embraced those children as their own, their feelings might have led them to a very different outcome(Banks). States are looking for ways to deal with the one millions cases of child abuse that appear each year. Instead of only one approach in child welfare, they are looking for better ways to use their staff community resources. We fight for the every girl and boy who has had basic tight to safety. We constantly assess the successes and failures of strategies undertaken on behalf of our youth. While there is more to be done, we have made great strides. Because of the collective progress made in identifying and helping victims, we have launched a prevention initiative designed to ensure that at-risk children never become victims in the first place(Joseph). The United States is taking baby steps, but hopefully it will lead into some bigger and better things in the

In the next five years, I aim to continue my education, potentially pursuing a master's degree in Public Policy or International Relations, to further deepen my understanding and effectiveness in this field. My lifelong goal is to create a team and together implement an all-encompassing program that will protect people who are affected by these types of abuse. This program will not only focus on prevention but also, provide support and rehabilitation services to survivors, and broader educational research and resources regarding these topics. I plan to work with non-governmental organizations, government agencies, and international bodies to ensure a wide-reaching impact and work directly with policy
People need to be more informed about different forms of violence and abuse problems in society in order to know when to report unacceptable behavior. Too often things are unreported or undetected due to people being unaware on what to do leaving children in an inadequate situation. Several key people in communities like teachers, physicians, dentists, hospitals, or daycares are mandated reporters where they are obligated to observe the well-being of each child and report misbehavior if necessary. Recently, there has been a jump in violent behavior reports due to changes in legislation and a shift in attitudes of the general public on the harmful effects of children (Lavergne et al., 2011). Child Protective Services can step in to provide different resources or help groups to help the family to get back on their feet. Some of the services are shelter services, counseling, family violence centers, and temporary emergency care. The temporary emergency center like the Children’s Haven is a safe neutral location for children to go while families are experiencing crisis. Law enforcement can decide to place children from violence or substance abuse situations in a neutral setting until a foster care has enough openings for every child to be placed together. Temporary emergency centers can also provide support for parents undergoing traumatic situations for instance if a mother is trying
Child abuse is a very serious problem that continues to happen all over the world. The Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, defines child abuse as a failure to act as a parent or caregiver which results in physical/emotional harm, sexual abuse, and in some cases death. There are many different types of child abuse such as emotional, physical, neglect, and sexual. With each type of abuse there are warning signs you can spot before it is too late. When a child is abused there is a huge possibility that it can cause them to have many long term effects.
Management theorists have identified three critical skills that managers need to possess for successful work in an organization. They are conceptual, technical and human or interpersonal skills. Conceptual skills include the ability to think and express ideas about abstract and complex situations and visualize the organization’s condition in the environment. These skills are very important for top managers, the organization’s leaders. Technical skills require job-specific knowledge and techniques needed to proficiently perform work tasks. They are essential for first-line managers who typically are responsible for the main production of the organization’s products or services. According
