How to Make Homemade Chicken n’ Dumplings My grandmothers homemade chicken and dumplings recipe has been handed down from generation to generation. I have been fortunate enough however to have the opportunity to learn several great recipes from my grandmother. I would love to pass along everything she has taught me, but I will share one special lesson on delicious homemade chicken and dumplings. Always have extra cans or cartons of chicken broth available to use because, the chicken stock may not be enough if you are making several batches of dumplings. That way you don’t have to run to the store, during the process of fixing homemade chicken and dumplings. The chicken broth needs to be added if it looks like they are too crowded, so they don’t stick to other dumplings, against the big stock pot, or even at the bottom of the stock pot. After all dumplings are put in, turn the burner down to low and cook for around approximately one hour. Be careful to not let them stick to the bottom of the pan or even the sides, and don’t let them burn. That would be so awful and depressing with all the work you just put into make these delicious homemade chicken and dumplings. Around approximately fifteen minutes to twenty minutes before the dumplings are done, you want to add the chicken meat to the dumplings, if you desire. I typically enjoy having chicken with my dumplings. But however, some people do not want the meat mixed in with their dumplings.
