In 6th grade I got to go to “ChewonkI” I rose up from my bed. I was nervous about who was going to be in my group My parents drove me to school, and I walked into my Social Studies class with Mrs. Ramsbotham. I went to go find my friends. We were all talking about “ Chewonki” We were all nervous. It was time to go to Chewonki. My friends and I all walked out of class together and down to the bus that was waiting for our class. I got lucky that I got to be on a bus with my friends the whole way there we talked. About 2 hours later we got to “ Chewonki” and were directed to a huge field where the whole grade all stood in a circle with the counselors, and the teachers off to the side. There was the main counselor in the middle of the circle that was calling out names and giving out group Information. …show more content…
My counselor gave us big water jugs to carry to our campsite he warned us that they were very heavy before we walked to our campsite. Our walk was not that far when we got to our yurt we set our things down and claimed which bunk would be ours we each got two bunks to ourselves. Next, we went outside our yurt and were giving crew jobs to do. I was on Kitchen crew for the first night so I and the kitchen crew was busy cooking over the fire. After dinner and we cleaned up. My group decided we wanted to play hide and go seek. When we were there we had no idea at all what time it was so we all went to bed when we were tired. The next morning we went to the “ Barn” which has a rope climbing course it is very cool briefly, we all were tired and decided to go back to our yurt. The girls were talking inside their yurt. Us girls decided to try to fit everyone in the top bunk and get a picture we did that and one girl fell off the top bunk it was very exciting and fun. Soon it was dinner and we did the job that we were assigned to. We played games until we fell
I lost my shoes that night to cause they fell off in the lake so my mom had to make me some it was pretty funny. I wouldn't say it was the best experience, but it sure wasn't the worst. Now for the funny part, Some of my worst experiences. i was about eleven so not that long ago we were down in the racetrack area we had found and we hadn't been there for a while and noticed there was a hill of rocks about four feet high so we decided to ride up them because it was flat on the top. I was scared like normal, so my grandpa said “ why don't you go ahead and do the throttle?” I was okay with that so I got ready my grandpa was behind me ready to steer and right when I pushed the throttle I pushed just a little too much and we tipped the four wheeler on top of us, we were crushed between the rocks and the four wheeler for about ten minutes and now when I run I think that's why my knee messes up all the time cause I got a rock stuck in it. Another experience is I was riding my sister around I was ten, she was five I had her up front so she would be safe and we pulled into the driveway because i needed a drink. We stopped and my mom got us a drink, I was turned around talking to my grandpa on the four wheeler no one was paying attention to my sister and while we were talking she pressed the throttle and we crashed into the
On the way to camp Kangaroobie we went to Mr Mcguane’s farm. The year 5 bus broke down so we came late. When we got there, we walked around this little river skipping rocks and getting stuck in the mud. When we arrived at camp, went to our cabins, and I was with, Emily, Felicia, Sarah, Grace and Klara, we packed our bag and went for a walk down to the beach! It was really fun because we went across rivers and walked through the sand dunes! When we got there, we jumped off and slid down the sand
As I walked to school with my lunch that was in a plastic bag. Once we got into school and got in the building my teacher Mr. Williams took attendance and five minutes later we turned around and got on the bus. It was windy and there were leaves blowing all over the place. Last year my 5th grade at John Stewart elementary school was going to Leroy Oakes in St. Charles for team building. It was a fall day and it was chilly. I had my drawstring on my back with my lunch and had three coats on. We turned onto a road called Dean Street and it was bordered by grass. I saw the Leroy Oaks sign, and my bus went over a speed bump that threw my class off balance. After awhile my class off the bus with a skip and a jump in my step. Then I was super excited that our
So we headed back up to camp with our flashlights tight in our hand. When we made it up we all went to bed, the parents slept in a cabin and all five kids slept in a large tent besides my little sister who begged to sleep with my mom and
Throughout my life I have tried many things snowboarding, sailing, rock climbing, and kayaking. I’ve enjoyed them all but the one activity that has stuck with me more than any other was Boy Scouts. I started scouts when I was 8 years old; I had no idea what I was getting into. I remember walking into the Saint Stevens, the church where the troop held their meetings, for the first time and seeing all of the other cub scouts. I was very nervous and wanted to make a good impression on the other kids. Due to my age I was put into the rank of wolf, the second lowest rank in cub scouts. We were a group of 16 kids. I don’t know how anyone could have controlled us at that young age, we were wild. Only three of the 16 ever made it to eagle and I worked hard to be one of them.
I was 5 years old, I was shy and didn’t have much courage and talk to people. Making friends was always hard. So sitting with my mom and helping her with my baby brother was what I chose to do the whole game. Like I said, ‘I chose’. My mom told me that we had just won our first game and that we had about an hour wait before we went on to play our second game. She wanted me to go play with this big group of kids. They were all my age, More than half was boys and maybe there was about two girls. I had said, “Ok”. But inside, my heart was racing, my brain was telling
I don’t remember what day it was, but I do remember going to Band Camp early summer in 2016. I had just finished 6th grade. I was so excited for Band Camp. Everyone made it sound like so much fun. My aunt decided to take me because everyone else was busy. When we arrived, there were a lot of people in line. The line was almost going outside. There were two dorm buildings, one for girls and one for guys. I obviously went over to the girls one. My aunt and I got me signed in and I went a t-shirt, which I still have. We brought all my stuff up to my room and got everything set up. The first night went smoothly. We went over all the rules that night and I went to bed at 10:30. First night over with.
One Saturday morning, while other teens were probably sleeping in, I woke up early to get ready for my first day of Korean school. My mother had gracefully accepted my urge to learn Korean a few weeks before and enrolled me in a Korean school located at a nearby high school. As I arrived, I could feel the warm sunlight shining in my face while I saw other children who were definitely younger than me scurrying around and playing in the quad. My mom and I stepped into the office and met with the director. He was an older gentleman who looked experienced. They conversed in Korean, while I was questioning myself deciding if this was the right choice. Several minutes later they finished and my mom whispered in my ear, "I will pick you up at one when your first lesson ends." I waved and then director told me to go to room five. I did not know what to expect as I was finding the room, still deciding to back out at the last minute. This was what I wanted and I had to go on with it. For what seemed like a long time I found the room and gently opened it to see what was in store for my new skill.
When I was seventeen years old and going into my senior year of high school I was given the opportunity to go on a trip to Spain with my school. It was a two week trip during the summer, visiting different cities and historical sites throughout the country. While we where there we went to see a Flamenco dance show in Seville which is about an hour and a half outside of Madrid, the city where we were staying. It was a Wednesday around one o’clock when we left and the ride up there was really beautiful. We were driving through the country side passing some small villages on the side of the road. We arrived there around 3:30 and sat down for the show. It was really cool they had all the ladies with their bright dresses and fruit in their hair dance around while we ate lunch. And the show ended around five and we started to head home. On the way home we were driving through the countryside along side a small village when all of a sudden we heard a loud bang and the bus started slowing down. After a couple of ...
Star Wars Battlefront reminds me why I love Star Wars. Its skirmishes unfold across iconic planets, with gorgeous landscapes and sweeping vistas on a massive scale. Endor's trees dwarf us. Tatooine's desert stretches for miles. And when the battle music reaches its peak, and I glide over Hoth's frozen trenches, I'm right back in my childhood living room, watching The Empire Strikes Back for the first time.
It was the last Saturday in December of 1997. My brother, sister, and I were chasing after each other throughout the house. As we were running, our parents told us to come and sit down in the living room. They had to tell us something. So, we all went down stairs wondering what was going on. Once we all got down stairs, the three of us got onto the couch. Then, my mom said, “ Well…”
Instantly upon my arrival at this colossal palace filled with joy and curiosity, all of the world’s troubles and pains seem to melt away. When I push open the soundproof glass doors, I am struck with the voices of hundreds of people all talking about the different movies they cannot wait to see, like Daddy’s Home, and Star Wars. After just a few steps into the theater, my entire body is filled with an aroma of smells. The freshly popped popcorn with lots of warm, flawlessly drizzled butter makes my stomach growl louder than a dog. The sound of the bubbling sodas makes my mouth begin to drip more than a leaky faucet.
On that fateful day in March, I was a couple months shy of my third birthday. My family and I lived in New Mexico at the time and were renting a house with an outdoor in-ground pool. The day was beautiful. I was outside with my oldest sister Rachel and my father. Rachel was diligently reading curled up on a bench that sat against the house, and my father was mowing the backyard. My mother and my other sister were in the house. Off to one side of the house there was a group of large bushes. I was playing over there with one of her large cooking pots, off in my own little world. At one point while amusing and en...
It was in July, and we wanted to go camping. I asked my dad if we could go up to our family's cabin in Elk Springs, which is near Montrose. He agreed, so Chase, Tyler and I, all sixteen years old, packed our stuff and were ready to go camping. With excitement, we jumped into Chase's truck, and took off to the woods.
One memory that comes to mind belongs to a day of no particular importance. It was late in the fall in Merced, California on the playground of my old elementary school; an overcast day with the wind blowing strong. I stood on the blacktop, pulling my hoodie over my ears. The wind was causing miniature tornados; we called them “dirt devils”, to swarm around me. I stood there, watching the leaves kick up and then settle. My friends called me over to the wooden playground surrounded by a sea of mulch chips. The bridge squeaked furiously under our weight. An unannounced game of tag started and we found ourselves weaving in and out of the wooden fortress and the trees that surrounded it. My shoe became untied and I took a time out to tie it with a method that no one uses here. We heard an adult voice; it was time to go in. We lined up single file, supposedly in alphabetical order but no one ever does. I liked that, I never liked being in the back. While waiting for everyone to line up, I looked up at the trees that line the walkway.
