Cynthia is scared to go to the doctor’s office for the first time. It’s time to go to the doctors said Cynthia’s mother. Mom, I really don’t want to go! Cynthia cries and screams! “you have to go sweetie; I am sorry,” says Cynthia’s mother. Cynthia goes crying to her father and asked if she has to go. Yes, darling, you are required to get a checkup if you want to start kindergarten next month. Cynthia says to herself, do I really have to go? She huffs and puffs while she goes out to the backyard. Cynthia hides from her parents and sits quietly, scared and nervous. Her parents look for Cynthia. “do you know where Cynthia is?” Finally, they found Cynthia in her tree house. “Hey sweetie, everything will be fine, but it’s time to visit the
doctor’s office now.” Said Cynthia’s parents. All Cynthia believed that the doctors were mean scary monsters. Before going into the doctor’s office, her father reminds Cynthia to behave and the doctors would have a surprise for her at the end of her visit. Cynthia felt a little relieved after hearing. They walked into the doctor’s office and the doctor greets them with a big smile. Cynthia just waved shyly at the doctor. The doctor said, “everything should be fine Cynthia it should go by fast.” The doctors began to take care of Cynthia. He took her temperature, he weighed her, checked her eyesight and looked at her ears and throat. Cynthia was finally finished with her checkup. Cynthia was happy as can be after visiting the doctor’s office when realizing it wasn’t scary at all. Especially after the doctor rewarded her with some candy after being on her best behavior. Her parents thanked the doctor and so did Cynthia. “Cynthia are you still afraid of going to the doctor?” Her parents asked as they went to the car. “no mom and dad, the doctor was really nice towards me” replied Cynthia. “I’m happy my checkup is over, but now next time I go won’t be afraid.” Says Cynthia My doctor is my new friend, so next time I will smile when I see him again. Cynthia learned that the doctor’s office isn’t that scary and that is always fun with a reward for doing well towards the end. Kindergarten here I come! Shouts Cynthia on her way home.

For decades newborns have gone through screening and assessments to determine where they are health wise after birth. The screening and assessments not only worry about the immediate moment, but also look for possible presence of disorders that could affect the newborn in the future. There are a number of different assessments and scales used after a newborn is born. The neonatal assessments and scales range from assessing behavior to determining whether there is a possible medical condition that could arise later in life for the infant. The screening and assessments are necessary, even if not all of them are completed there are some that will be done automatically after birth.

As an additional provided layer of social support for Lydia, the therapist will recommend Lydia to visit the school counselor when encountering difficulties during the day, especially if she’s being bullied. In addition to seeing Lydia and Lisa each week, the therapist will check in with the school counselor via phone call or email to assess Lydia’s social participation and perceived affect. The therapist will also assess if there have been any issues when she interacts with her peers or with the staff. As Lydia continues to grow and develop, another useful collaborator on her case would be her pediatrician. While the pediatrician can be a helpful resource for the parent to make sure a child’s development is following an appropriate trajectory, they are more importantly an important resource for the child to ask questions that might be too embarrassing to ask a parent. Since most children this age only see their pediatrician once a year, this resource is one that would be reinforced by the parents. When talking to a child about their pediatrician, it would be important to remind them that an appointment can be scheduled when the child needs one, even if they’ve already done an annual exam. Since the therapist will not know how often the child will see the
Billy Thompson and Sam Westfield were similar in many ways. Since a young age they both has excelled at sports and both loved more then anything, the sport of football. While growing up, the boys did not know each other and probably thought they would never have too. But all of that changed with the diagnosis.
And to tell you the truth, I enjoyed being at the dentist. But when I was teenager, it was rare for me to get a checkup unless I really needed it. When I was a junior, I had been getting pain in my stomach and chest. My parents were worried and took me to the doctor. It was a false alarm, but it is always good to check.
Screening is the first step in addressing any concerns in a child’s development. Healthcare providers and parents should continue surveillance and screening through childhood; screening tools should be used whenever concerns arises about a child’s developmental (Lee, Lu, Allan, Yeh, & Chang, 2015). American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has suggested evidence-based screening tools improve early detection, causing the use of screening tools to increase (Sheldrick et al., 2016). According to a survey by AAP, there have not been improvements in developmental screening in primary care setting; pediatricians are not using effective screening methods for their patients (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2006). Thomas, Spragins, Mazloum, Cronkhite, & Maru (2016) conducted a study that suggested that health care professionals (1) override evidence-based screening results with their informal judgment; and/or (2) assistance is needed with making referrals and understanding tests. Based on literature, screening policies need to be mandated and standard for each child, for the
On 08/03/17, at approximately 2:54pm, I Deputy Warden N. Christian with Franklin County Animal Care and Control (FCACC) was dispatched to 38 S Wheatland Ave on an injury-possible dangerous or vicious dog. I arrived at the location and saw a small terrier mix (black/brown) loose on the front porch of that location. I approached the location. I slowly approached the front porch, where I placed a leash on the small terrier mix. I knocked on the door. Caller Lisa Vanskle came outside and I asked if this was the dog that bite someone. She stated it was. I advised her that I would return after I placed the small terrier mix in my vehicle. I returned to the above location and spoke to Ms. Vanskle and her son (victim) Travis Vanskle. I asked

What I would do differently next time is not leave the task as long I will complete it much quicker. The reason for this is I would have more time to do things like planning and making multiple designs so I can get the best layout. Time is a major thing with something like this and this task has definitely shown me this. I did not feel from first glance the task would be as challenging and time demanding as it was. So for this I would definitely say more time should be spent on the planning and the development to get the best final result form myself.

Attending kindergarten means having more structure in a child’s young life, and they are ready for it after going to preschool. They have learned to socialize, follow simple rules, and stay on a task longer and longer. They are now ready for more intense learning; this is an opportune time for a teacher to harness the mind and still keep the fun and adventure of a kindergartener’s mind going.
