I’ve gone to small school all my life, but I big dreams that I wish to accomplish. Most of the time our teacher gives us tests to find out what career would be best for us. I have been looking into these careers since i was little, they have always applied to me because I love animals and helping people if they are hurt. Some personalities you need when being a RN are respect, calm under pressure, knowledge, and compassion. You need compassion when being a RN because you have deep awareness of health (Registered Nurse.2 2017). When being a rn you need to treat your patience with respect because if they are sick or injured (Registered Nurse.2 2017). You need knowledge because you need to know what is wrong with the patience cause they could be severely sick or injured. When you become a veterinarian technician you have to take classes and pass the exams. Veterinary technicians are like the techies of the theatre; the organization would be able to function without them, but it would be much harder. Things run a lot more smoothly with vet techs. There are multiple benefits that come with being a veterinary technician. These benefits include, but are not limited to, a high job outlook, great room for advancement, and only two years of schooling (depending on the route you take). Above all, the animals, who aren’t always able to help themselves, are being taken care of.

For as long as I can remember, my childhood dream has always been wanting to become a veterinarian. While other kids were outside having fun at the playground, I was at the library reading books and learning about the different animals. However, as I matured, I realized that being a veterinarian isn’t just about caring for and assisting injured animals. Being a veterinarian means having the ability to make quick decisions in stressful situations, showing complete dedication and passion to this profession, and being able to effectively communicate to pet owners.

It is important for the individual going into this occupation to search out the pros and cons of the different areas of nursing. Sometimes gender plays a part in choosing the specific area of an RN. For instance, the strength of males is needed in areas of physical therapy. While the gentle attributes of women are needed in the care of babies. “A nurse must like people and want to help them, and must also have self-reliance and good judgment, patience, honesty, responsibility, and ability to work easily with others.”(Jacobi). The occupation of a registered nurse includes many advantages such as having the ability to assist your family in medical needs, the salary is attractive and above the average scale, and it offers great job security.
Skills that a nurse may need to ensure that individuals are treated fairly and the care that they need is specific to them include; a good listener, this makes sure that the patient applies trust in you as a nurse and trusts you to help them in their time of need. Reliable, this helps the patient to have trust within you and this may help them with day to day lifestyle choices and could boost self-esteem. Good communication skills, this will ensure that the patient gets a say in the care that they receive and they have the right to refuse treatment, although this is not the case in some cases.
Vets need a strong foundation in science. Have sufficient skills in mathematics to succeed in chemistry. Veterinarians also must be able to think in a logical manner, with reasoning the cause of an effect and vise versa. Compassion and a caring nature are personal attributes that can contribute to a veterinarian 's success, yet they also must be able to perform difficult tasks, such as euthanizing an animal to end it’s suffering. They must always strive to learn more and expand their knowledge base. However, in addition to having a very strong understanding of medicine and surgery, they must be compassionate, and a good listener. Deb also feels a good veterinarian must be able to separate their work and home life. The job can be emotionally very challenging and in order to avoid compassion fatigue and job dissatisfaction. A good vet needs to know that when they go home, they must focus on personal and family well being. Some colleges need proof of rabies vaccines as well as up to 80 hours of volunteering in an animal shelter or clinic. After being accepted in the program you will spend 2 years studying plus a 6 week practicum (hands-on work). At the end of all of this, you must pass the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Examination), which lasts 4 hours and consists of 200 multiple choice questions. After passing the exam, you must register with the CVMA (Canadian Veterinary Medical Association) and your provincial regulating body. Like veterinarians, you are also able to further your learning and specialize in certain areas. There are 10 colleges with programs accredited by the OAVT (Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians). As for the veterinary technologist, they just spend an extra year in college. According to Penn State college of agricultural sciences the main idea about this subject is what you need to do to become a vet (2014). You need to go to college and take all courses in math, chemistry, biology, and physics. You need to have taken an undergraduate degree program, which is a bachelor's degree. Before you can become a vet you also need to have volunteering, which you would volunteer helping with animals which you could do at a vet clinic or at an animal shelter. After you are done with the classes you need to take a Graduate record examinations. Graduate record examinations are what you need to show that you know what you learned in those classes. You are also going to need letters of recommendations from people who really know you to write about you and tell the school who you really are. “What is career day, mom?” My brother asked one day after school. My mom replied, “Career day is a day where you eighth graders get to shadow somebody.” She replied, “you get to see what a day in their career is like.” The moment after I had heard my mom explain to my brother what career day was, I got excited. I knew exactly who I would shadow, years later, when I was in eighth grade- a veterinarian. My whole life, I have had this enthusiastic love for animals of any kind. I would treat any kind of animal as if it were a person. I treat our cats like they’re my children, and I love them with my whole heart. In my eyes, nothing would be better than to have a job working with animals every single day. Although I knew that I wanted very badly to be a veterinarian, I didn’t know much about veterinarians.
