Zeus was a significant character according to the Greek Mythologies as he was a very powerful character. He was referred to as the god of sky and ruler of the Olympian gods. He ruled from Mount Olympus, where he would impose rules on other gods as well as mortals. His other name is cognate that was derived from the Roman equivalent Jupiter, a first element. He possesses powers similar to those of Indra, Perun, and Odin. Zeus was the youngest seed of Cronus and Rhea. This discussion will particularly explore his traits and personalities. Uranus and Ge had warned Cronus, Zeus’ father, that one of his offsprings would ultimately overthrow him to take the throne (Nagy, Gregory, and J Banks). The other gods referred to him as the god of all natural phenomena, ruler of state and father of gods and men (Atsma, Aaron). His powers allowed him to create all natural phenomena including intense darkness, storms, and even tempests. Just by a single command, he could create lightning and mighty thunders that would wreak a vast region. Also, at his command, the skies would open up and allow rain to pour down on the earth. The other gods and humans as well were thus careful not to piss him off as his punishments were fatal. They strived to please him so that he would shower them with blessings in return. As a ruler of the gods, Zeus bore several roles and responsibilities which came along with his supreme powers. Hesiod referred to Zeus as the lord of justice as he used to settle disputes and ensure that there is peace in the land (Nagy, Gregory).
