Many career fields in this day and age have little too no requirements for what demographic they are to hire, but there is a rapid growth of certain types of demographics in this century. The business field is no different, there are no requirements to who they will hire, as long as you are able to perform it doesn’t matter your race, ethnicity or credo. A diverse workplace is one that has representation from several different types of people. The career that I hope to someday pursue is entrepreneurship, an entrepreneur can be anyone of all ages, races or ethnicity’s. The entrepreneurship career is all about having a great idea for a business that you personally believe will succeed. I believe that I have all of the qualities that are needed …show more content…
This demographic adds an extremely powerful experience level to the business workplace, they have years of experience that they can pass down to blooming professionals that are fresh out of college. Also, the business world is experiencing a spike in non-Caucasian Americans, those that are African-American, Hispanic, Asian and many more races and ethnicities. These people help make the workplace diverse and they help to appeal to people of their Culture and credo. On the other hand, the people who have experience in the workplace will need to break the formality that they have been acclimated too since they have been in the business world. Entrepreneurship is a career within the business field, an entrepreneur is someone who takes a great financial risk to start and operate a business or …show more content…
Diverse workplaces are composed of employees with varying characteristics including, but not limited to, religious and political beliefs, gender, ethnicity, education, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation and geographic location.” (Brookins, 2014) Diversity within a small business is crucial to the success of that business no matter what type of business it is. If a company is not diverse then the people whom they interact with will not have a connection with managers or employees of that company. For example: my father’s company interacts with over 100 restaurants in Baltimore and the surrounding areas, in order for the company to hold them as a client they have to have a connection with them on a personal level. So, in order for that to happen his employees come from many different backgrounds and
Diversity in the work place has generally been thought of as purely an employment equity issue. However, diversity is coming to be recognized as an asset which can, like any other asset that is well managed, contribute to the bottom line. Diversity is growing almost as quickly as the number of software vendors at an accounting convention (Talbot-Allen, 1995, p. 3)
Diversity in the work place is one of the leading causes of innovation in United States’ companies (Hewlett, Sylvia Ann, Melinda Marshall, and Laura Sherbin). Some of the largest companies in the United States are also on the list of fifty most diverse work places in America, companies such as AT&T, Kellogg’s, Master Card, Wells Fargo and many more huge companies, coincidence I don’t think so. Innovation leads to economic growth, competitive advantages, and is an in important factor for businesses to thrive. With diversity in the work place everybody comes with their own way of looking at things which brings new ideas, thoughts, and process which increase productivity. Why would we destroy the great diversity that we tried so hard to get? Sounds counterproductive especially in a globally connected world that we have
Workplace diversity includes the attributes, elements, and differences that set a person apart from others in the work setting. There are many factors that influence diversity including age, race, culture, gender, ethnicity, birthplace, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, education and work
Businesses that promote diversity in today's global marketplace are better able to attract and retain the best talent. Employing a diverse workforce allows a company to utilize the potential within the job market to its fullest and contributes to overall economic growth and prosperity. Differences among co-workers should not divide a workplace. Rather, differences among co-workers should be used to foster creativity and innovation, thereby driving profitability and business success.
A diverse workforce more closely reflects the global marketplace that the organization competes in. With the growing number of Asian, Hispanic and other minority populations, it makes sense for companies to promote and strive for diversity in the workplace. By doing this, businesses create the very conditions needed to produce more creative outcomes to the problems and challenges they will be faced with.
The impact of diversity in the workplace is contingent upon several factors. Across companies diversified workforces are becoming increasingly common. To successfully manage a diverse workforce, organizations are ensuring that employees understand how their values and stereotypes influence their behavior toward others of different gender, ethnic, racial, or religious backgrounds; are gaining an appreciation of cultural differences among themselves; and behaviors that isolate or intimidate minorities are being improved (Noe et al., 2010, pg. 302).

Diversity issues will gain importance because of the effective interactions and communications between the people. Diversity is the reality of the business world. It can have negative and positive impact on the employee’s behaviour towards work and work results. This also depends on how the employees have understood it and grasps it.
An entrepreneur is someone with the capacity to lead a business to success and is willing to take the risks in order to accomplish their goals. (Dollonger, 2002). Starting a new business is an example of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs are very important in order for any business to succeed, however, only some entrepreneurs will succeed in life. Here are some of the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs.
An entrepreneur isn’t just a business owner or a boss, they are someone who has seen an opportunity. Someone who has noticed a demand that is currently unsatisfied. Or invented a product that makes life easier for people. With this in mind, it can safely be said that an entrepreneur is someone who is innovative and able to see opportunities that many others don’t yet believe in.
This clearly shows that entrepreneurs are more likely made rather than born. Education offers a huge advantage. Entrepreneurial skills are not purely genetic, it is something that needs to be observed and learnt in order to practice it in the real game. Most of the entrepreneurs gain their skills through experience which is also a good source for learning. It is no doubt that some people are born with certain skills such as adaptive thinking and seeing reality with positive spin but these people also need to learn on how to practice those skills in entrepreneurship at the right time.
Entrepreneurship is a key driver of our economy, wealth and the majority of jobs are created through entrepreneurship, and it also helps and educates people in terms of growth and realizing opportunities (Nolan, 2003). Entrepreneurship is also seen as one of the important contributing factor to local development (Nolan, 2003).
Entrepreneurship is extremely important to the American economy. Without entrepreneurship there would not be any new business to help our economy grow and expand. Entrepreneurship allows job creation, social growth, and economic growth.
